The hidden scout finally revealed himself and he was making a beeline towards their leader, who was located at the head of the group of captives.
As it turns out, the psychic from before was actually bait, used to lure the captain away from the front of the group so that the scout could rescue their leader first. He had purposely revealed himself so that the captain would discover him.
This was easy enough to understand because if the psychic wanted to scheme with the scout without being discovered, he could have used telepathy to converse and the captain would have been none the wiser. Every psychic had the basic telepathy talent. this was not to say that every telepath could become psychic, but every psychic definitely new telepathy.
There was also a telepath present in Trapp's own team, but he was only responsible for bridging communication between all the members of the squad. He didn't show any other psychic abilities and probably wouldn't.
