Charlotte's heart missed a beat when the 'ding' sound resounded in her ears. She locked eyes with Tyler and her lips formed an inaudible 'wow' She tried to speak but the shock concealed in her lungs made her beam with a smile.
"There you go ma'am" the salesperson's voice jolted Charlotte out of her realm of thoughts. Her line of sight met with the package her supposed quarterback boyfriend could not afford "The purse is yours now" the salesperson added.Charlotte's spine bubbled with adrenaline moments ago, but the salesperson's voice doubled the adrenaline rush. Because she has to make a tough decision. Her supposed well-to-do quarterback boyfriend couldn't afford to buy her a purse. And now - Tyler her ex, the same guy she cheated on, the same guy she called a broke ass bought her an expensive purse. At first, it seemed like a huge punch on Raul's face, but when Charlotte stretched her hands to accept the package from the salesperson, Raul's face shrunk into a scowl. Charlotte ignored the don't-take-it stare on his face, she collected the package from the salesperson. Raul stomped his feet on the floor loudly, with rage clenching his throat. She turned to Tyler. The irked stare on his face made her hesitate for a moment, but she stepped up to him. "Tyler" she smiled. "Thank you so much for this...I me...."Tyler shot her a glare and she halted the sentence. Tyler must have been a simp in the last couple of months, but the mysterious look on his face could scare a pride of lions away.Tyler skimmed his eyes around the vicinity, and his gaze settled on Raul. "Have a nice time shopping" he walked past Raul, brushing his shoulder. Tyler walked back to the counter - where he was before the couple's voice sped into his ears.Raul heaved a sigh, and he swallowed the chunk of saliva in his throat. If Ice had a human version, it'll be Raul. He froze the moment the terminal beeped. He never thought Tyler can afford anything that expensive. Oftentimes, Raul throws money around to show off, but a whopping one hundred and fifty thousand dollars will take him over three years to make. Tyler just spent someone's three years' salary on a purse and walked away like nothing happened. For a moment, he thought Tyler's actions were in a quest to get under his skin and spite him for taking his woman. Sweat trickled down his face, eyes blinking at an accelerated pace."Did you just take that?" He half yelled. Charlotte's smile faded, and she turned to meet a feral stare on Raul's face."Take what?" Charlotte retorted."The damn purse!" Raul yelled. "Don't you think that's disrespectful to me? I'm your man and I think you should ask my permission before accepting gifts from strangers in public"Charlotte scoffed, clutching the package in her hands. She held on to it like an ant will cling to a piece of sweet. "My man?" She exclaimed.Raul peered at her I'm disbelief, giving her an I-don't-get-you kind of frown."Raul I don't want to get into an argument with you out here," she said. She walked away, leaving Raul to sink into the chaos of her denying him right to his face. Charlotte walked to the other side of the counter. A smile formed on her lips when she caught a glance at Tyler."Hey," she muttered ambling close to him. Tyler rolled his eyes when he saw her. He ignored her beacon, turning his attention back to the purse he was checking out on the rack."Come on," she said, placing her hand on his shoulder. "you're so rich now... $150k is a lot. Thank you so much anyway" Tyler stared in disbelief, not because he doesn't know what to DA, but because he doesn't know which emotion to express first.A line from his recent Will Donald journal skimmed into his mind. "Everyone is like ants - glued to anywhere they can find sweets""Tell me.....how did you make that much money?... Won a jackpot?" Charlotte mumbled as she drew invisible lines on Tyler's chest with her finger. "I miss you Tyler"Tyler shoved her fingers off his chest. Shocked at Tyler's sudden action, Charlotte rolled her eyes in disappointment."Ugh... What if I never had money? Huh?" Tyler said. He leaned back for a moment "Charlotte for the records, we are done. You called it quits... You shouldn't be missing a broke ass like me" Tyler said, taking her down memory lane. He tried to walk away but Charlotte gripped him by the arm."Don't walk away please"Tyler let out a sharp breath, staring at her."That's him over there" a familiar voice interrupted from behind.Tyler turned to see three people walking toward them. Raul, the salesperson, and a man wearing a black suit. Tyler and Charlotte exchanged glances as they stared at the approaching trio."That's him," Raul said, pointing to Tyler. "I saw him stealing something a few minutes ago"Tyler's heart pulsed faster.Charlotte stared at Raul in disbelief."Sir" the man in a black suit stepped forward. "I'm the manager here. Just as you heard, this man saw you stealing. We don't condone any form of theft here... We have to search you to ensure you don't have anything that belongs to us on you""What?" Tyler questioned. He frowned at Raul and then at the salesperson. You must be joking" Tyler scoffed."You're the joker here" the salesperson retorted."Really? You guys want to embarrass me... Ugh... This is crazy....""Sir, you have to comply, else I'll have to get you arrested," the manager said.Tyler hunched his head for a split second. "Fine""I'd do that myself," the manager said. He moved closer to Tyler. He dipped his hands into Tyler's pocket. He creased his eyebrows when his fingers poked something. He pulled out his hand and a hairpin fell off.The manager's eyes dilated she the hairpin fell. He tried to shrug it off until a golden ring fell off Tyler's pocket too. His eyes widened, almost bulging out like spikes. "What the h....." He exclaimed. He tried to reach for the ring, but Tyler got it before him. He slid the ring into his left index finger. The golden glint of the ring made everyone gaze in shock. Tyler may have bought an expensive purse a few moments ago, but owning a ring worth millions of dollars is the height of all astonishment. "You own that?" The manager said, pointing to the ring in Tyler's fingers. "Yes. I didn't steal it...I" " I didn't say you stole it here" the manager interrupted. "Besides we don't have such kind of luxury ring here" he added. Raul had his heart floating on his tongue. He stared at Tyler in outright shock. If a broke janitor could afford that, then maybe wishes are now horses. There was no way Tyler could afford such a rare gem, within the range of forty-eight hours. "....u...uhm"
Tyler boarded a cab to Ava's. He alighted from the cab after a few minutes. He stood in front of a luxurious penthouse. Tyler stared at the tall building and then he looked down to his tattered shoes. He heaved a sigh. Ava is like an icon, and that depicts the kind of people that'll be attending her birthday party. Ava is a sassy lady, and everyone who's close to her dines on the same table, except Tyler. "I hope I don't get judged because of my outfit" Tyler muttered beneath his breath. His shirt - was slightly drenched with rain, and his brown hair - was disheveled as it sprouted lazily across his forehead. A haircut won't hurt Tyler. He clutched the bag in his head and ascended the stairs, heading to the entrance. He arrived in the long hallway. A few people in sight - each minding their business. The address Ava sent asked that he goes to the second floor of the building. Tyler's eyes skimmed around the hallway and he saw a door, leading to an elevator. His eyebrows creased, a
Tyler paused - lips pouted in awe as he stared at Mandy. Mandy also reciprocated the same gesture. She stared at Tyler with eyes pricked with surprise and a glint of disappointment. "Mandy meet my friend Tyler" The awkward silence lasted for a few minutes. Mandy was the mystery lady in the elevator. "You guys know each other? Ava asked as the unidentified familiarity echoed volumes in silence. "....no" Mandy muttered. "It's good to meet you Tyler" Mandy snarled. She tried to be nice but the smirk in her face gave her away. " I've heard a lot about you. You look horrible by the way" Mandy said. Her face formed into a frown and stormed away. "Mandy!" Ava yelled as Mandy walked away. "Ugh..." She let out a deep breath. " I'm sorry about that. Mandy can be a pain in the ass sometimes" Ava said, placing her hands on Tyler's shoulder. "It's fine," Tyler said. "Happy birthday once again. You look beautiful tonight" Tyler complimented. A smile scurried to Ava's lips and her cheeks red
The teammate creased his eyebrows for a moment as Tyler walked away. He has never seen this savage part of Tyler. Tyler is always known for being a spaz and a weird redhead who acts like a child. But this new portrayal of action and confidence is alarming to the brim. **** Tyler walked back into the hallway, the bright walls gleaming at his sides. For the umpteenth time in a day, Tyler feels proud of himself, ranging from the Charlotte, Raul, and the manager saga in the store moments ago, and now - the teammate. He has never gotten a chance to taunt his oppressors. The fact that this opportunity presented itself makes it a moment he's always craved. Tyler turned back to gaze down the hallway he's been trudging from. He caught sight of the teammate walking miles away behind him. Tyler pressed his lips together and turned forward. But.He bumped into someone. His instincts swung into action almost immediately and he gripped the figure by the shoulder. The soft skin under Tyler's pa
Tyler walked down the stairs of the building like nothing happened a few minutes ago. As if he wasn't accused of presenting fake stuff as birthday presents to Ava. As if he wasn't discriminated against because of how he was dressed. He became less worried about that the moment his father's message popped into his phone. At first, that message felt like one of those entries he writes to Will Donalds, but the urgency in the message made him have a quick rethink. Johnson wouldn't pull such a prank on him. Not today. Of all days. Not when his newfound wealth has been revealed to him. Not when the urge for revenge is thumping hard on his chest. Tyler reached for his phone again to read the text his father sent to him again. 'Hey, son. Where you? I just got you a new crib. I need you to come check it out right now. The address is ....... Come quick Tyler" A gasp evaded his lips after he read the text again. He shoved his phone back into his pocket as he waited for a taxi. *** Tyler al
A confused frown appeared on Tyler's face. He blinked rapidly to ensure he wasn't asleep or the words he just heard weren't products of hallucination. "Brother?" He muttered coldly. His voice wasn't audible enough for everyone to hear. "You've have to kill me first before you hurt my brother" The lady added, stepping into the scene. She lazily swept her long braids back to her shoulder. Her deep blue eyes shimmered like the glints of sunlight and her alluring light skin glistened epically, like fine ointment. Her words gave Tyler the reassurance he needed that he heard her the first time she mentioned the word brother. As unreal as it sounds, Tyler swallowed the lump of saliva in his throat. He remained silent, hoping that everything would unfold. There's no flame without fore right? He yearns to see the source of the burning fire. The man who yelled at Tyler a few moments ago bent his head in remorse. The lady stepped closer to Tyler, with a smile curling on her long and elegant
Dear Will, Do you remember the last time I wrote to you? I promised to write to you again, but I added the phrase 'Maybe in another life" I guess I was being prognostic when I wrote that entry because this is a new life, a new Tyler, and of course a new beginning. That's one of the things you always talk about on the STAR TV SHOW right? You always say everyone would always have a new beginning and a new life if they believe and continue to grind. I think my situation is a bit different. Because I was only grinding. I never believed in anything. I was stuck inside my doom, slumping deeper by the second, without a single escape plan. Until the tune changed. Will, I'm the first child of the Johnson family. Yeah, the Johnson family you know. The family owns the most conglomerate in the whole of LA. I got to know about it that night I wrote my last entry to you. I was stunned to the bones too and all I did was go with the flow, even if it all felt unreal and dreamy. My dad knew I wasn'
"Are you nervous?" Kara said, nudging Tyler's shoulder. He's been standing by the entrance for a while and his head had been bent in confusion. Tyler forced a grin, nodding his head, negatively. "No I'm not"Kara feigned a frown and they both chuckled. "I know you're nervous. But its fine" Kara said. She moved closer to Tyler, adjusting the collar of his blue suit. He was decked out in a luxurious suit, his long and unkept hair had been cut, and now he looked pretty different from how he looked days ago. He doesn't look like Tyler the janitor anymore. His appearance now portrays the look of Tyler Johnson. The new found billionaire that's about to take control of his father's company. Tyler heaved a sigh, grazing his hands across the grill. "It all still feels like a dream you know" Tyler said. "A few moments ago, I was wretched and poor and now, this. The whole wealth and money feels unrealistic and weird" He added. "I understand how you feel" "You do?" Tyler cut in with a scoff.
