Unknown Girl's Pov
I spent a lot of time thinking about what happened yesterday. After I had gotten over losing my concentration and falling in the lake I couldn't train any longer. I tried searching for the strange boy from yesterday but he left no trace after disappearing the way he did.
I tried talking with my connection who happened to be Susanoo the Japanese god of storms and sea to find out if he had any clue of the one behind the boy's powers but all he gave was a vague reply. I honestly disliked speaking to him at times. He always had a temper and he was always talking about focusing on training. I work my butt to please the sea god but he never seems satisfied.
Walking through the hallways in school, I was still drowned in a plethora of thoughts until I bumped into someone. Looking in front of me I saw that the person I had bumped into was the smiling redhead. He was creepy but smart in a very scary way. He smiled and said
'Hello Ame.'
I cautiously sidestepped him and him before replying
"You don't have to act like we're close or anything. We're just working together for the time being."
I flipped my hair as I walked past him. Without losing his smile and moving soundlessly like he always did, he appeared in front of me before replying
'You don't have to be so cold Ame. I have to care for a fellow teammate. After all, that's what we are now.'
His smile got wider after saying that.
'We'll be meeting up with one of the members today. I spoke to him last week so we'll meet him after he's done with his after-school training today.'
After giving me the location to meet up, he casually walked away. Sighing while wondering what I had gotten myself into, I walked off in the direction of my class eager for this day to be over with.
Tora's Pov
I had gotten considerably better when sparring with the professor and it was obvious now that he had to actively put in an effort to stay away and prevent me from touching him. Another major difference in training was that I was now allowed to launch counter-attacks of my own.
While I had gotten stronger with the help of Byakko, I still lacked experience when it came to facing another incarnate. Though it was quite similar to facing opponents while learning swordsmanship, the major difference was that their attacks weren't restricted to weapons since some had powers and speeds normal humans do not possess.
My movements had improved to the extent that the professor had to actively keep a fairly visible dome created by a heat wave around him at all times to make me think twice about approaching him recklessly.
Constantly on the move, I launched several lightning attacks at him while reading his movements to try and figure out his next move. However, my focus on the professor didn't allow me to see the trap he had set along my path. I stepped right beside an ember the size of a birthday candle's flame that was on the floor and immediately felt the hairs on my entire body stand. Dodging at the final second allowed me to escape the initial fire pillar that had emerged from where I had been standing.
However, I was not prepared for the heat wave that resulted from a concussive blast that had gone off after the fire pillar erupted. My left hand was singed as it had not been properly coated with my powers before the explosion met me. The force pushed me back a couple meters before I caught myself again. Utilizing the power of Byakko in a way that had only been theoretical till now, I used electrical signals to dull the pain receptors in my left hand till I couldn't feel the damage any longer.
Running power through my hand I slammed it on the floor sending a massive wave of electricity through the ground straight at the professor. His response was slamming his feet on the ground causing an eruption in a circle around himself while at the same time causing the area around him to erupt like molten magma. Without missing a beat, I punched the air in front of me causing the debris in front of me to fly straight at the professor. The dust and stone particles worked both ways in the sense that they obscured both our visions. However, I had learned a cheat while tinkering with the power and knowledge that Byakko had given to me.
Channeling power to my eyes, I switched my vision so I could see the thin lines of the nervous system all connected to the brain receiving signals allowing me to pinpoint where the professor was. Since Byakko's powers were mostly current related I had begun thinking of unconventional ways to make use of them should the need arise. Training my eyes to see the static currents in the air and in living organisms had been one of the results of tireless practice. Even Byakko was surprised when I came up with this technique. Now I could even see in the dark or find someone who had canceled out their presence without much work.
Coming at the professor from above in the midst of the dust cloud, at the last moment I was about to touch him I noticed his system started changing before something hit me and sent me flying backward. After righting myself in the air and finally landing, I looked towards his direction as the dust dispersed only to find that professor Pius had grown ... a tail?
"Very good boy. The display of power you have shown me today is satisfactory for now. Your movements are getting better but your attacks are still limited when you do not have your swords with you."
Noticing that I didn't reply and was instead staring at his tail he raised a brow and asked me "Never seen a dragon tail before?" I shook my head as I stepped a bit closer to get a better look at the appendage that had hit me with the force of a moving truck.

Tora's PovSensing movement at the last second, I quickly jumped back to avoid the incoming attack. Not being able to avoid it completely I was able to reduce the damage by a reasonable amount. Not knowing what her intentions were, I still took a ready stance waiting to see her next move. She immediately gathered water from the atmosphere creating orbs that were floating around the entire room."What exactly is this supposed to be? Some kind of test to see if I'm worthy enough to be on your team or what?"With a stern look, she replied to me'You'll find out when I'm done.'Some of the orbs in the air moved towards her direction and combined with the staff in her hand. Within the next minute, she held a spear made of crystal clear water in her hands. Anyone seeing it from afar would think the weapon was made entirely of glass. Spinning the weapon above her head a few times, she charged at me and I could sense the seriousness behind her actions. We began a deadly dance where she was at
Ame's PovAll the bubbles in the air suddenly split in half and fell to the ground, creating puddles everywhere. Even the one I had hardened to form my spear had returned to liquid form. My legs gave out from under me as I realized my breathing was ragged. Suddenly I found myself in Susanoo's presence. He looked at me with an indifferent expression but his usual haughty atmosphere that was always around him was nowhere to be found.'It seems you have finally learned defeat today child.'Was that all he had to say? In that brief moment it felt like I had seen him move countless times and blades had been everywhere in the air. Anyone of those blades could have taken my life if he so wished it. Looking up at Susanoo, I saw that he was still watching me before he spoke.'His skills far surpass yours. That can only be possible with years of dedicated training a strong will. You have always been regarded as powerful from a young age and that has stunted your growth. No one pushed you to be
Tora's Pov My mind was not on whatever the instructor was teaching today as it had wandered a long time ago. I was pondering on more ways to adapt my swordsmanship with Byakko's power in order to increase damage output. The possibilities were endless. I just had to put my mind to good use. After school, I made my way to the training location as usual only to find the professor was not alone. With him were Kiri and Ame. "What are they doing here?" Turning his head to look at me Professor Pius replied me 'I believe it is pertinent to mold your unit into a proper one if you are to make any progress in the future. From now I will take charge of your team and take it upon myself to whip you in shape before the time comes to send you on missions.' Ame was still pouting and making comments about a grumpy old man under her breath while Kiri just said 'Well I hadn't gotten to the point of selecting a teacher to be our team's guardian yet so this makes things easier.' Sighing I stepped
Professor Pius Pov Well, it seems like even HE was impatient to meet them. I haven't brought anyone here for a while now. But since he summoned them himself, they are likely to face more serious challenges than normal. Hmph. Well, I can at least watch and see what the other two are made of. That Tora boy is growing at an outstanding pace. Raksha, I sincerely hope this vessel can adapt quickly to your brother's power. Kiri's Pov Hmm. I suddenly appeared in the forest that was below us. But the green scenery sure is nice. Who knew that the mirror could be used like this too? It sure is fun sticking with the people you told me to Celeste. The shadows stretched and formed the outline of a fox before moving and speaking. "You have only unlocked powers of two tails so there are still things you cannot perceive with your level of power." "Even two tails worth of power is incredible. I wonder what I can achieve with all nine tails. Maybe I'll be able to overpower Tora." The smile on my
Tora's PovStanding in the white forest that I had seen from above it really was more beautiful than I could imagine. Snowflakes fell leisurely and the air had a serene feel to it. Too bad the killing intent that I sensed was ruining the perfect environment. Since the presence just seemed to observe for now I think I'll just ignore it for now. Walking along the only pathway that was visible I channeled power into my eyes and began viewing the entire place through Byakko's eyes. It was always exhilarating seeing things in another light spectrum, be it in a fight or just on a normal day. Counting the number of electric signals being generated from bodies, I counted a total of forty eight enemies surrounding me and moving in a continuous formation as I wandered along the path. Finally being content with the precious moments of peace and serenity I had enjoyed, I decided it was enough and focused on the task at hand.As if noticing I was ready, a figure flew overhead and after going in a
Ame's PovDispatching the dogs became somewhat easy as I now knew how to get rid of them. But now the rising challenge was the female golem attacking from the rear end. After I had destroyed about half of the fiery dogs, she started to toss magma balls at me anytime I closed in on a potential opening on the remaining dogs. And by the time only three were left, the ferocity of her attacks had increased to an annoying level. Using the orbs rotating in the air I drew them close to me before firing them in all directions at a high speed. The whizzing sound they made like arrows could be heard along with the deep thump as they made contact with anything before exploding. Using this chance as I had stunned the enemies attacking me, I did the only thing I could manage right now. I ran.Running as fast as I could, I sniffed the air in hopes of finding any moderate-sized body of water. I had smelled it back then while fighting and now I was desperately following the scent. Going as fast as I c
Kiri's PovFinally free from the bubble she was trapped in, the gorgon-looking monster screamed in my direction. Already expecting this, I used my powers to block off most of the waves coming toward me. Immediately her scream subsided, she twirled the staff in a timely fashion before slamming the end on the ground again. However this time, nothing happened. Looking confused she looked at the staff in her hands. Only then did she notice a difference. The crystal was gone. "Missing something?" I waved the stone that had previously been resting stop her staff in front of my face. Her face contorted in anger as she pointed the staff at me and vines from her body began moving. Gradually, they wrapped themselves around the body of the staff, slowly making their way towards the tip. Once at the top, a part of it extended sideways and formed a long, curved blade. Before long she held a deadly scythe in her hands. Holding it in both hands, she looked at me and then let out a deep growl that
