Leveling Up

Picked up the brown briefcase, Ethan was smart enough to take the sewage outlet from whence he came instead of the front gate. Trusting his guts, he never knew he was taking the right steps as his instincts led him until he heard an alarm in the pyramid castle few minutes after he was gone out.

He did not hesitate to use the available taxi back home to Sharon apartment. And as he entered his room,

The systems dialogue box appeared and the excitement on his face was unexplainable when he saw his account balance which was right about the first place he had his eyes on — he needed the money.

"Ethan." Sissy called out while knocking consistently Ethan had to quickly open the door and was like,

"Sissy, is there a problem?" He asked because she seems anxious.

"Yes, it's about my daughter. I believe you have the money now. Please repay me the money Arnold took from me, I need to get my little daughter, Brooke, tested." She grumbled to his face.

"Oh, Sissy, quit grousing, it's not worth it..." He sighed and went in leaving the door open and as expected she followed him while he kept trying to find the right words with which to convince her not to think of sending Brooke into D.C. United for any test. "...you do not have to get her tested, trust me. How much is it?"

"$1500 dollar it is." Her voice went to normal, conveying a sense of calmness.

"That much?" Ethan asked eyes full of surprise and grinned amusingly knowing that was really a huge sum of money.

"Yes, that much." She muttered unamused.

"Okay, I'll send it to you now, but please do not take Brooke to D.C United. There is this place I know she would be safe." Ethan uttered confidently thinking of keeping her in Deer Creek Diner because the place looks protected.

"Why don't you want her tested? Do you have any problem with that?"

Ethan Sighed saying, "it's not safe, Sissy. I don't want you taking a wrong step!" Ethan exclaimed keeping a serious face.

Her phone beeped and she glanced at her screen, confirming the credit alert of $1500 dollar before asking him further, "thanks. Ummm... what do you mean it's not safe? Did you hear something?" Sissy asked with a wondering eye.

"We leave in the morning, Sissy. Just trust me and don't take her to D.C. United yet. I'm sure you are going to believe whatever I have to say when we meet Isabell tomorrow."  Ethan reiterated and started taking off his suit, she knew he obviously needed rest.

"Who is Isabell?" She asked because that was the first time he is mentioning that name.

"She's the waitress in Deer Creek Diner. When you get to meet her, there are things she's going to tell you, I believe you'd want to know as I do." Ethan muttered and yawned feeling sleepy. He was glad she never said a word after that before leaving.

Ethan felt a sudden percussive noise in his head when he woke up the following day and the moment he held his head with both hands, the resurgent system started talking...

[Updating task list]

[System informing in process... incoming notification... Approved!]

Ding!!!

(...Task list dialogue box appears...)

- Go into D.C. United with Isabell Wells.

- Find Keira Wells. Make her give you her bracelet willingly.

...Dong! Task list closes...

"Gosh! It's too early for this, Terra. Don't you think? Please do find a way to keep Isabells mom out of this. You do know that that woman is Isabells mom, right?" Ethan asked both yawning and stretching his body, trying to sit upright on his bed.

Terranova: "it is already past eight, Ethan. Are you always this lazy in the morning? And yes, that bracelet on her wrist is important. You will get to understand later on."

"Whatever!" Ethan exclaimed unamused as he got up and went straight to have his bath. "... and as for being lazy, just so you'd know, I lost my job and so I do not think I have any reason to wake up very early." He mumbled while showering.

Terranova: "that's absurd. Well, just so you'd know, you have a job now and for your information, Sissy and her child are already dressed and ready to leave."

"Wait, what!" Ethan exclaimed and hastened to leave immediately. He was as fast as he could be even as he got out of the bathroom and got dressed on blue jean trousers, white T-shirt and shoes without forgetting his wristwatch.

KNOCK....

"Sissy, it's Ethan. C'mon open up." Ethan said quite inaudibly because he doesn't want the neighborhood knowing their whereabouts.

"Ethan. Good morning. I have been expecting you. We got ready on time and was about coming over to your place." Sissy replied as she opened her door to let him in.

"Shit, Terra. I thought you said they were leaving!" Ethan scolded with just a whisper when he noticed that Sissy had entered her kitchen.

Terranova: "I said she was ready to leave and I never said she was leaving without you, stupid."

"Somehow, I wish I could punch you in the face!" Ethan muttered and noticed the little girl staring at him talking to himself, he had to look her in the eye and with a smile, he said, "hey Brooke, how are you doing and how was school yesterday?"

She kept her eyes wide opened and gazing upon him she replied, "I don't know where my mom wants to take me to and she isn't saying anything at all. I barely go to school and yesterday I heard my teacher telling the principal that they would have to shut down the school because they can't protect the children. Ethan, I don't know why some of my friends never show up at school after a while." Brooke whined with her tiny whistle voice.

Ethan held her close to his embrace immediately she was done talking and said, "don't worry Brooke. Your mom and I are trying to see how we are going to fix things and also protect you. You just have to trust your mom. Whatever she does is for your protection okay. Always listen to mommy."

"Ethan, I'm ready." Sissy said as she showed up carrying a bag on her back and a lunch box for her baby girl.

"Let's go then. Ethan replied, but the minute they opened the door, they heard police sirens all over the vicinity, coming in hot from afar off. It was strange because it's been long they heard such...
