GRAVEYARD INCIDENT; HIS MEMORY IS BACK

She went closer to the man to get a closer look at him. She was afraid she had killed a stranger. She leaned down, put her palm over the man's face and when she was certain he was still alive, she heaved a sigh of relief and began to think of what to do. She looked at the man again, wondering loudly if she should help him or just leave him there. She knew that leaving him there would be cruel, she didn’t see any blood but what if he had a concussion or something? He could die if he's not properly attended to.

Even if he had been the one to bump into her, she had been the one who pushed him and caused him to fall, though his fall hadn’t been her intent. But if she helped him, he could report her and she couldn’t afford a scandal, else her father would be very angry at her. Because of his political status, even the smallest incident would become a major story and he couldn’t afford anything affecting his campaign. Leaving would be easier to do but she just didn’t have the heart to be so cruel, and she couldn’t bear having a murder on her conscience.

While she was having her internal struggle, Dennis lay still on the bushy ground, half awake and half unaware of his surroundings. He could see the lady’s silhouette through his half open eyes, although she probably thought he had passed out, and he could hear all she was mumbling to herself. He couldn’t get himself to move, not because of any life threatening injury, but because of what was going on in his mind. His head ached from the fall, but it was as if hitting his head on the stone had restored his brain back to its original setting.

As he lay there, a series of scenes began to play in his mind. He saw his life flash through his eyes, not his life as Dennis, but his real identity, Cade Milton. He began to remember all he had forgotten on the day when he had that accident at the bridge, the day he met and saved Bryan Bellwether. With the knowledge of his past came the knowledge of the betrayal that had almost led to his death. His half brother, Alex had tried to kill him by sending assassins disguised as bodyguards to pick him up at the airport. Even the problems that the company managed by Alex had been having must have been a ploy to make him travel just so he would be killed.

And Alex’s mother, Cassandra must be a part of it too, they must have both conspired to take him out so Alex would take over the company. And he had been gone for four years, so they must have achieved their aim by now. Alex had no idea how to handle such a big business, who knows what had happened in his absence. His father, Mackenzie might also be in on the plan, but Cade wasn’t so sure. The only reason Cade suspected his father was because Cassandra had him wrapped around her finger, and he might have been angry that Cade hadn’t given him back the company when he asked for his CEO position after his cheating scandal had died down.

Cade made a vow to himself to go back home and take his full revenge on the people who had tried to kill him and made him suffer for the past four years. He had endured so much humiliation in the Bellwether family for no reason. Just because they thought he was poor, and he had no memory of his past, they had treated him like trash, except Bryan Bellwether and his wife, Katherine. But the only two people that had shown him kindness were dead now. It made him sad because he couldn’t repay their kindness, but at the same time, he was glad they were no longer part of the family.

Because Cade planned to add the Bellwether family to his revenge list. And he would have no guilt because Bryan and Katherine were already gone, only the family scumbags were left alive. Bryan’s first son, Barnes Bellwether and his only son, Derek Bellwether had always despised him. Hailey’s mother, Kaylee, was the second child of Bryan Bellwether and apart from Hailey, the woman also had a younger son named Henderson. None of them would escape his wrath, especially Hailey Bellwether. He had loved her and she had betrayed him so deeply.

The woman that knocked him down tried to help him up as she noticed him stirring. His head was beginning to ache a little less as the onslaught of memories receded and he was about to stand when he saw two men coming towards them. They were behind the woman so she couldn’t see them, especially since her attention was focused on helping him stand. But Cade could clearly see that their attention was fixed on her, one of the men had a rope twined around his hand and the other had a small sack. At first, Cade had a paranoid thought that the Bellwether family had sent assassins to finish him off, but then he thought better of it– no one else knew he had come here. They must be here for the woman, but why? Who was she?

They were walking stealthily towards the unsuspecting lady, looking behind and around themselves. Cade stopped trying to get up from the ground as he realised that the men hadn’t noticed his presence because he was on the ground and the woman was blocking their view of him from that angle. He had to do something, but what could he possibly do now that they were so close and his head still ached a little like he'd been hit with a hammer?

He wondered if his fighting skills would return as well as his memories had done. Even with his busy schedule as a CEO, he had learned martial arts and had been regular to the gym in order to be able to protect himself, but he hadn’t practised any of that in the years since he lost his memory. But he had to try either way. The woman had stayed back to try and help him even though she could have just easily walked off after pushing him to the ground. He would return the favour by helping her as well.
