From the corner of his eyes, he saw the couple storm out of the hall in anger, but he couldn't have cared less. It was oddly satisfying, to say the least.Their passionate kiss was interrupted when Mr. Richland stepped forward. His eyes shone with pride and affection, despite the onslaught that had gone on earlier. He was the only one who differentiated the wolves from the sheep, despite his age. "My dear daughter," he began, sounding so emotional. "I have an announcement to make." The room immediately fell silent as one of the maids held out the microphone to speak. He briefly apologised for what had happened earlier and went on. "I have decided to announce Chloe as my successor because she has proven herself to be worthy of the title. She was the only one who stood by my side and helped me recover when others wished for my death." A collective gasp went through the room. It took a little while before the room finally went silent again. He went on again, thanking Chloe and Cage
He stopped the car once they were a safe distance away from the party. The light from his car died, and the darkness returned. Then he vented his spleen."Fuck! Fuck!!" A scream left his throat as he pummelled the steering wheel in pure rage before bowing and covering his face. He had been scalded."I'm going to kill that bastard! He has no idea who he's messed with. I will not rest until I've taught him a very big lesson, one he won't be alive to correct!" Rochelle was equally white with rage but she had not yet found the mouth with which to voice the way she felt at the moment. She had been thrown out of the party she helped organise, and to add salt to the injury, Chloe and her fiancé had somehow turned into their engagement party. Her knuckles were turning white with anger as the events of the evening replayed in her mind like a kind of broken record. Each time she remembered how her sister and her fake fiancé had treated them, her rage and resentment skyrocketed. It hurt her so
It was very difficult to discern the secret of Cage's success for most people, considering how fast and how insanely famous it had become in such a short time. Word-of-mouth spread like wildfire across the country, drawing crowds who were eager to experience the culinary delights his restaurants provided. Within weeks, it had become the talk of the town. But it wasn't to come without a price. He had put himself to work like one possessed, since he wanted to make sure that he made the most out of it. And from the look of things, his company was destined for even greater success. He had established many restaurants across the country to meet up with the demand. He spearheaded the whole thing with the help of his team- a handpicked group of brains who gave him strategic advice on how to run his business and so far they had not failed him. On this particular night, he had just arrived home from his first restaurant which was opened in the city. He had gone himself to make sure that eve
"Where the fuck are you!" He growled to himself, already starting to get nervous. He feared for the worst even though his tracks had been perfectly covered. Every incident that had led to this was impeccably executed. Something was wrong, and he hoped Cage wasn't behind it. If he was, then that was going to be the end. He couldn't imagine his mission ending before it even started. "Think, think!" He berated himself, wanting to be optimistic about the whole thing. But it was past time. He looked at the clock again and it seemed to stare back at him with the alarming reality. He was fighting so hard not to pick up the phone right now. The only sound in the room was that or his angry brooding and the ticking of the Victorian-esque clock tucked at the far corner of the wall. For Daryl, there wasn't any time to waste and f*ck around. Morality was just a facade and a construct of the weak-minded. For him, it didn't matter whether the path to conquest was paved with virtue or vice. What
Cage was in the middle of his busy day when his phone buzzed with a call from Zo. He picked up the phone before sighing loudly and leaning back on the chair, it had been a very exacting work and he was happy he had something that would put his mind off it, at least for the moment. "Cage, I've got some interesting news for you." She said as soon as he answered. He listened in, hearing the sound of flipping papers in the background before he continued. "We've been approached by Aerovista for a potential partnership." He sounded excited, but that didn't seem to be the case for Cage who was confused about what this meant. "AeroVista?' His brows came together in confusion as he thought about it. "It sounded pretty much like an airline company but he hadn't heard about them, well, until now." Zo explained. "Yeah, Aerovista. The biggest airline company in the world right now." Cage didn't didn't ask any more questions. This time, his brows shot up in surprise. "A partnership? What do the
He glanced around, shaking his head while still wondering how the attack had been initiated and how they had been able to get in. For him it was unbelievable that anyone could get through the kind of security at the restaurant but right now he knew that it was more than possible. He was faced with the stark impression that it had happened. He thought about the Aerovista CEO and about warning him to leave, but on a second thought, he shook his head and pushed off the thought since his security team would do that. He didn't want to leave the restaurant and go anywhere else. In fact if he had the necessary powers to deal with things, he would have preferred to stay behind and fight the enemy until they were gone. But this was no type of case. It was a very serious one but he wanted to see to the end of it. His thoughts were interrupted when his phone rang. With a furrowed brow, he took the phone out from his pocket, thinking it was his security official but it was a different person.
"911, what's your emergency?" The sharp female voice cut through the chaos. Cage glanced at the ongoing mayhem before replying. "The restaurant at 163 Main Street is being attacked and vandalised- we need help right away." He didn't want to reveal his identity and decided to keep it simple and short. The operator assured him that help was on the way before he hung up the phone. He watched in pain as the building got battered. His relief was short-lived as he thought about what to do to stop or curb what was going on before the police arrived. He realised that he couldn't just stand idly by and wait for them to arrive before doing something. But at the same time, he knew that his life was of the utmost importance. Presenting himself to the enraged crowd would be a very bad idea. They could mangle him before he knew it. He also thought about the possibility that there was someone behind the protesters. They might have been hired by an enemy to cause the destruction which was going on
Within ten minutes, the team.of cyber security officials arrived at the scene. They looked so grim as they stared at the cooks, it was clear from the foregoing that they knew what was going on and who might have had their hand in the recent attack. Cage was very happy with the findings, at least none of the chefs or any other personnel that were involved would be able to deny it when the evidence was very clear in front of them. One of them, a short and bald middle-aged man, dropped his bag on the table and took out a laptop. He quickly connected a chip to the USB port and waited for the video to play. "Here." He said, staring grimly at the screen as the video began to load up. Cage's face spread into a slight smile as he stared at it. Finally, they were going to get what he deserved. He couldn't believe that there could be no single evidence recovered despite the amount of security he had installed here. It was so hard to believe that anything of that magnitude would ever happen, a
