When Zo's name flashed on his phone screen, Cage took a deep breath before answering the call.

He had no idea why Zo would be calling him at a time like this but he suspected immediately that the man wanted to commiserate with him on the loss of Grandpa Richland which he barely thought about now.

His mind had been on Chloe since she decided to leave. The past few days had been very hard for him and he was doing his best not to think about her because the thought of her made everything in him weep. He couldn't couldn't help it.

"Hey, Zo," he greeted, sounding so sad. The man noticed it right away but didn't ask any questions about it. His job was simple and that was what he was here to do.

"Hey, I heard about the death of Mr. Richland. I'm really sorry, man." He said, sounding so sad. Cage was happy that the man had neglected the formal greetings and behaviour now.

This wasn't the time for any of that. He was deeply wounded, not by the death but by what she had done. In fact, he h

"What are you doing here?" She asked coldly. He was surprised that she hadn't even greeted him. He wondered the kind of anger she had been holding in ever since and the kind of poisonous words her father might have said to her all those times. "I kept calling but you wouldn't answer, so I came to see you." He said, flashing her a smile despite the situation. He was very happy that he got to see her again. Her father who had been standing there walked out angrily. They waited until he had gone before Chloe motioned the guards to give them space. "Wasn't it clear to you that I didn't want to talk to you. As you can see, I'm fine here. There was no need coming here. Its very pointless and I don't want to see you again. I made that pretty clear to you when I was leaving. I asked you not to call but every moment you keep calling, so I had to change my number." She said passively, even though it hurt him so hard. Cage replied quickly. "What do you mean by the woman I've been seeing? I don't have anything to do with any other person apart from you." He said to her but she laughed. "It's all over the Internet. You tried to deny the slut you've been keeping, but I'm happy some people were there to capture the whole thing. I just can't wait to kick you out of my life. My lawyer has already started to draft out the divorce document and I can't wait to leave you alone. Now I see why everyone hates you. They think you're an angel, I used to think that way too, but now I know that you're nothing other than a snake. And if given a chance, you could do the most unimaginable thing. I'm just shocked because I can't believe that I have allowed myself to be decided by you for such a long time now. I feel so stupid right now, but I guess we all make mistakes." She said, "I'm happy that I'll live to correct mine. Is there anything else you want to talk about?" "That woman was the person I told you about. Sh

It was the next day in the afternoon that the woman decided that it was time to give Chlor a call. As much as she was sceptical of Cage, she knew that there would be a bit of truth in her words and she also didn't want to see their marriage fall apart. She had only been guarded with him the day before because she thought he had come to manipulate her into turning against her own client, which was impossible. She learned, however, after Cage left that he had only come with good intentions. She dialled the number of her boss and put the phone in her ears. Meanwhile at the Richland mansion, Chloe's phone buzzed with an incoming call. She glanced at the screen to see her lawyer's name flashing on the display. She had no idea why her lawyer was calling but she just put the phone to her ears and listened in. "Hi, I hope I am not disturbing you?" He asked with a polite and professional voice. She forced a smile, masking her annoyance while trying to act nice. She had been angry since speak

"Zo, what I'm saying is that we need to gather evidence. Even though we know they're going to lose, we can't afford to just go there without any kind of proof. Let's just take this seriously." He could only wait till the d-day to find out what it had been the whole time. He contained. "We need footage, witness statements that I wasn't there. The rest of the week and the week after passed in what seemed to be a blur. And soon the day of the trial came. The courtroom was buzzing with a nervous energy as everyone took their seats and waited for the proceedings to begin. Cage didn't feel a thing by the way, and he was sitting beside his lawyer who was going through some papers. His mind was a whirlwind of thoughts by the way, because he knew that this was going to further damage heir relationship. He wondered how they would ever ever when they would be together ever again. It would be very weird and even if he won, she might never accept the fact that he wasn't the one who had done it. He knew she could keep thinking that he was responsible for it, so winning the case wasn't going to solve the whole problem. He had still had to convince her, outside that, that he wasn't cheating on her or anything like that. He was heavily conflicted that there was nothing else he could do to solve it other than to wait to see how things woul

The courtroom seemed to spin around him at that point. He could feel more and more sweat gathering at his forehead. He had no idea what was going on but he felt a very terrible foreboding, one that he hadn't felt in a very long time. What was the meaning of that? His office phone. How had they even found his office phone? He asked, because if they had only said they had found the leaked chats, it would have been better. But his office phone?! That was a very bad one right there. He wondered who was going to believe him when we told them that he was innocent and had no hand in this. He was the only one who knew that this was a setup, but what if there was nothing he could do to avert it. He knew that he hadn't been to his office in about a month or two, but suddenly his office phone was found with chats that were meant to explain the killers of Grandpa Richland. He wondered if Chloe would ever let that happen. He knew he'd be damned if she ever let them sentence him, if the worst cam

The next day, Cage decided that he would go and see Zo who was still awaiting trial. At least, this was the only time he could be allowed to see the man who saved his life, so it would be a very good opportunity especially to know if there was anything else Zo wanted to tell him before his trial. As he walked through the cold, sterile corridors, led by the police officer, he couldn't stop thinking about how amazed or rather, shocked he was about what Zo had done. It was a pretty brave act that not many people would do. And even though Zo had only revenged, he knew that he had done the right thing. It was only bad because he had said it to the court, but for him there was nothing bad without dealing with the person who made your life a living hell. There was no help for such kind of people, and all they deserved was the worst form of punishment possible. He couldn't wait to hear anything else Zo had to say. On the other hand, he wondered if Zo would even talk to him. He pushed off the

Trevor couldn't believe that this was happening. He'd gotten off the call with hopes that Cage wouldn't do anything, but when he had gotten off the phone with Cage, he couldn't believe it. It was still very hard to assimilate the words he had heard. They were devastating, utterly devastating. The threat and the calmness in his voice, he was still finding it very hard to believe a single word of it. "It's a fucking bluff," he said under his breath as he kept pacing the entire room. There was a lot more to this. "There is no way he's going to be able to freeze my accounts. That's not going to happen without a court order." So far he had been able to stay under the radar because of the palms he had to grease. It had saved him a lot and hearing what was about to happen meant a lot of things. It meant there was no way he could report to the authorities because they would find out what he had been doing and there wouldn't be a way to cover up the skeleton he'd been hiding in his cupboard

They had made a very big mistake the moment they decided to take her away from him so they could manipulate him into giving her up. He was going to make sure they suffered and got what they deserved. There was no mercy here. The silence was heavy where he stood and it was only broken by the occasional rustle of leaves in the breeze. He couldn't shake the images of Chloe's terrified face haunting his mind. He continued to stand there, patiently waiting. It wasn't long before he heard the sound of an approaching car. It pulled him from his thoughts as he walked to the direction. A black S

That night was the longest night in his life. While the rest had gone to sleep, he stayed awake, restless and shaken. Even with the thought that she was not hurt at the moment, he couldn't risk the dread that had already engulfed him. Nothing made sense to him him anymore. He just wanted to see her safe and he knew he was going to pull off something extra to get this done. He was back home and no longer at his office now, but the Gedan family was still out here, and they had to be stopped. It just happened out of nowhere, sending him crashing back into the world of hurt and pain and worries that he thought he would gone past now. He had to stop them and that was what he was a

    FOOLPROOF

"What happened?" He asked, the concern in his voice was as silent as a summer afternoon. Cage took a deep breath and answered. "Chloe has been kidnapped. And they want me to sign all my properties over to the Gedans Family in exchange for her release. I never saw anything of this sort coming but it looks like they have been planning it all along for a long time. I won't be surprised if I find out that they are connected to the problems we have been facing lately, especially with Marcia. They could be the ones who told her to do what she did and now that their plans won't work, they opted immediately to abduct my wife. Those bastards, once I have my hands on them I'm going to make sure they regret whatever they are doing right now." Cage said, growling and punching the table with his clenched fist. A day ago he was happy that he had been able to curtail the situation but right now, everything had just gotten worse and probably gone back to square one. There was a big silence, after

    A VERY BIG ONE

Cage sprinted back to his car as soon as he began to understand what was going on. He drove back home as fast as he could with his thoughts racing madly. He didn't know what to believe or think about. The fact that she had left an hour ago made him so worried and no matter how he tried to push the dangerous possibilities off and tell himself that she was OK, he couldn't. He knew that something was very wrong when he arrived home and rushed inside, calling out her name with a very panic-filled voice. "Chloe! Chloe!, are you here?" The house was eerily silent and he went to check the cameras after that. He found out that nobody had been there the whole time he was away. He had a very bad feeling in his gut at this point as he wondered what could have happened to her and where she might be at this point. Just for good measure, he checked every room, every corner, but there was no sign of her. The panic set in as he realised she was truly missing. He decided to wait, hoping she would wa

    A CHILL OF DREAD

Cage felt so relieved and carefree as he drove down the familiar route to Chloe's family home. He was very happy because the problem had been solved at least and he just had to find out the main person behind the fake rumours. That wasn't a pain in the ass since whoever it was would be kept at bay as soon as he knew that he was wanted and a lot of people were looking for him. He had made a mental note earlier to call Dave to know if he'd found anything about the voice of the man who had spoken with Marcia over the phone. He was snapped out of his thoughts when someone honked at me from behind. He matched the accelerator and the car began to race down the tarmac. The later afternoon sun had already cast shadows on the earth but he barely noticed. He couldn't wait to get to the house and finally meet her. He was worried about what their conversation was going to sound like. He wondered if it would be awkward or emotional, considering what had happened between them before now. He remin

The next day, he decided to call his lawyer again. He had decided that there was no need to rest anymore until he had gotten the whole problem sorted out. He felt uneasy when he picked up the phone and called his lawyer, Mark. The feeling was there with him, and it refused to leave him no matter how much he tried to. "Mark, I need to talk to you." He said, sounding tense even though he was trying everything possible not to sound that way. Yes, they had taken care of Marcia and her lies but that wasn't just working for him. It wasn't enough motivation because what faced them was bigger than Marcia, and even more deadly. He still remembered the attack of the assassins who had been sent to end his life. The thought made his gut

    BREAKING NEWS!!

Two days later, Cage was in his house, particularly sitting at his desk in his study. The last few days had been a whirlwind of confusion and anxiety. The cops were still outside the estate where he was leaving, so he hadn't been able to leave the house since then, until he had been proven to be innocent. It was a very tiresome time for him and he couldn't wait to be done with it. That was the moment that his phone suddenly rang. He thought it was from his assistant or Mark but when he peered into the phone it was a strange number. It was strange because he didn't know who it was and because the caller ID was only composed of very short numbers that nobody in the state used. It almost looked foreign, and he prayed that it was the government house so he could be done with this. But on a second thought, he wondered what it would be if it wasn't really the government house but instead the perpetrator. His heart pounded as he picked up the phone. "Hello, this is Cage. " He said, doing e
