Cage got another call that day and this time it was from Chloe's grandad. The next morning, he arrived at the dilapidated bungalow on Oak Street. Stepping out of the car, the first thing he spotted was Mason's car which was parked on the other side of the street. His heart was heavy with apprehension as he turned and walked towards the Coffee shop opposite the Oak House. He pushed the door open and stepped inside. He was instantly hit with the soothing smell of coffee. He was about to look around for Mason when he heard someone click their fingers in the distance. Getting back home, he met Zo who had come to see him. Zo had come to discuss with him about the future of his company which he had long forgotten about since the whole issue began. With everything set, he knew that it was time to put his actions into motion and finish it off. But he had one thought at the back of his mind now. It was about Rochelle. He wondered if she knew about the whole thing going on or if she was innocent and had had idea what her husband had been doing. Meanwhile, as soon as Cage got into his car he didn't waste a single time before he contacted Mason to let him know that everything was already done. He delivered the news with a fluttering heart. "He has finished signing the will. It's time we meet to finalise our deal." Despite the fact that he wanted to act confident, he could still feel the nerves that churned in his stomach. "You see, it wasn't that hard was it? You are the only person who will give me the reason on how I am supposed to treat you. If you play your cards right, I will give you the respect that you deserve. But if you try to be smart and sneaky, I will make sure you regret ever knowing me. They were dressed like rascals. They walked to the boot and opened it before dragging someone out. Cage watched on, holding the fake will. He could feel the tears gathering in his eyes when he saw Chloe again. He'd never thought it would come to this, but this was him, dealing with it. In the background, the detective asked his men to get ready. They moved their fingers to the trigger and waited patiently. Mason wasn't out yet. After they pulled Chloe out, Cage wasn't surprised when he saw how she looked. He had suspected that he was going to treat her that way. She had lost so much weight and also looked so weak. He doubted if she had any idea where she was right now. A sudden surge of anger filled him but he pushed the feeling aside and continued to watch. A few moments later, another door opened and this time it was Mason. He was putting on a black, leather jacket. It was so thick that he suspected it was bullet proof. The silence that enshrouded the street was very loud. The only thing that broke the silence was the crunching of twigs as the detective and his men got up from where they had been hiding and slowly walked up to the bodies that were on the ground. They looked around, making sure that they weren't being watched by anybody around. He had to make sure that they avoided any kind of ambush. The detective surveyed the aftermath of the chaotic shootout, and when he was sure that there was nobody around, he gently put back his gun into his belt and bent down to check the pulse of the criminals. The air was still thick with the smell of gunpowder and the blood of his victims. His eyes quickly darted to Mason's forehead when he saw blood oozing from there. He liked what he saw. Getting closer, he peered into Mason's face and that's when he saw the bullet wound. He was long dead and he was still covered in his own blood, as was his accomplice. Two weeks soon passed away like leaves in the wind. During those two weeks, not quite much had happened. The news of Mason's death and his involvement in the attacks had been making the rounds in the news and Chloe found herself on a path to healing, both emotionally and physically, as Cage wanted. Every new day brought a sense of hope to her. It reminded her of what she had gone through in the hands of Mason but she had a strong heart, and Cage was there to take care of her everyday while letting her know that everything would be okay. It wasn't surprising, however, that she recovered very fast. After she had recovered and was discharged, Cage took her back to his apartment. She still looked thin but she was getting healthier with each passing day and she felt a lot better and could stand on her legs without experiencing any kind of difficulty whatsoever.
