The silence that enshrouded the street was very loud. The only thing that broke the silence was the crunching of twigs as the detective and his men got up from where they had been hiding and slowly walked up to the bodies that were on the ground. They looked around, making sure that they weren't being watched by anybody around. He had to make sure that they avoided any kind of ambush. The detective surveyed the aftermath of the chaotic shootout, and when he was sure that there was nobody around, he gently put back his gun into his belt and bent down to check the pulse of the criminals. The air was still thick with the smell of gunpowder and the blood of his victims. His eyes quickly darted to Mason's forehead when he saw blood oozing from there. He liked what he saw. Getting closer, he peered into Mason's face and that's when he saw the bullet wound. He was long dead and he was still covered in his own blood, as was his accomplice. Despite the gruesome scene, he let out a smile. He
Two weeks soon passed away like leaves in the wind. During those two weeks, not quite much had happened. The news of Mason's death and his involvement in the attacks had been making the rounds in the news and Chloe found herself on a path to healing, both emotionally and physically, as Cage wanted. Every new day brought a sense of hope to her. It reminded her of what she had gone through in the hands of Mason but she had a strong heart, and Cage was there to take care of her everyday while letting her know that everything would be okay. It wasn't surprising, however, that she recovered very fast. After she had recovered and was discharged, Cage took her back to his apartment. She still looked thin but she was getting healthier with each passing day and she felt a lot better and could stand on her legs without experiencing any kind of difficulty whatsoever. During that time, her bruises had also healed so the scars on her hidy were not so visible as they used to be before then. At t
The following week brought with a feeling of renewal and hope for Chloe and Cage. Mason's burial was the previous week and he was ready to make new strides in their relationship. He took her to the hospital for a check-up on her pregnancy. Her stomach was starting to get rounder and bigger with every passing day. He was happy that nothing had happened to the baby but he knew they still had to go for a test so they could be very sure about it. They both waited for the doctor as soon as the test was finished. After some time, he appeared and handed them the test while talking to them. "Well. Everything looks good with the baby. But I must say you need to make sure you're eating enough to keep both you and the baby healthy." He said to them before he got up and left. He rolled his eyes at her, clenching his jaw as he reminded her. "I told you, have you seen it?" He said, giving her an I-told-you look. She smiled as she went through the details of the result. The most important thing
It was a very bright day, and the sun cast a warm, golden hue over the sprawling Estate where Cage and Chloe's wedding was set to take place. The venue was bedecked with vast lawns with vibrant blooms, elegant decorations and the towering establishment which was just the perfect backdrop for the joyous occasion. It had been a very rough journey but miraculously, they had been able to get out of it and get to the point that they have always desired since the first day he accepted to be hers and she accepted to be his. Chloe was being attended to by stylists as she sat in the decoration room, nervously staring back at herself in the mirror. She was the perfect picture of a bride, ready and willing to get in there to accept and meet her husband. Even through the veil, she could see the stylists had done a wonderful job.The murmurs that were starting to build outside told her that the guests were already arriving. As soon as she was done and everything, Cage walked in and took her han
The ceremony took off immediately. Cage was led to the altar by Grandpa Richland while Chloe was led by her father. All eyes were on them and the media couldn't get enough of the event. There was a lot of live coverage going on outside. They both exchanged heartfelt vows, promising to cherish and support each other through life's trials and triumphs. Everyone applauded as they were done taking the marital vows. After that, they exchanged rings and sealed their commitment to one another. Their happiness was so bright and infectious that everybody in the large church got a taste of it. Another cheer erupted from the crowd as soon as they were pronounced husband and wife. They went on with the rest of the event after that and headed sure to stay close to her, not leaving her for anything whatsoever. As soon as the festivities came to a close, it was time for the newlyweds to depart for their honeymoon. A sleek, luxurious Mercedes-Benz was now waiting for them at the entrance. The press
The impact of the car on the water shattered the glass instantly, and the car began to fill up with water, causing them to sink in even further. Cage didn't hesitate for a moment before he turned to Chloe who was clawing at the air. She couldn't swim, nor could Rochelle. He grabbed her arm and put his strong arm around her waist before he forced the door open and tried to pull her out of the car but that's when he felt something grab his leg. Fear seized him, as he felt they had been attacked by a sea creature. He tried to shake it off, despite carrying Chloe and being so tense but it remained. He turned back sharply to see Rochelle holding onto him tightly, refusing to let go. With a quick, fluid motion, he reached down for her and gave her a quick punch before grabbing her arm. Despite the terrifying darkness that had enveloped them, the only thing that gave him hope where the lights ahead. He could see the lights above the water, and he knew they weren't far from the surface. Bu
Cage continued to watch after Chloe, making sure that she was OK. The sound of the helicopter up above was getting louder as it gently dropped to the ground to rescue them. And that was the moment Rochelle made a break for it. She tried to run and escape the law but Cage was ready to make sure she faced punishment and suffered for all that she had done. He couldn't let her escape, no matter what. With a burst of speed, he lunged forward and grabbed her by the arm. His finger dug into her skin as he held on tight. He tried pulling her back despite the ache in his arms but she was strong. It seemed as if the near-peril experience they had just gone through didn't affect her as much, which was why she seemed so strong. Cage was beginning to regret why he hadn't kicked her away to die inside the sea. He growled as he held her back, locking his legs around hers as well. She continued to struggle against his grip, and her eyes were wild with panic as she saw the helicopter getting closer
Grandpa Richalnd was sitting in his lavish living room in an armchair, sipping on the glass of whiskey he had in his hand as he watched the evening news on the large flat screen television mounted on the wall. The room was beautified with opulent furnishing and expensive artwork, which showed how wealthy and powerful the Richland family was. He had been very glad after he heard the news about what had happened at the bridge and couldn't wait to confirm the rest of the news, he was waiting to hear exactly what he wanted. Could this be the end of it? He wondered, laughing at the thought that he couldn't have been able to finish off Cage all these years, despite hiring the best assassins, yet a woman was going to do that. It surprised him so much, but there was nothing he could actually do about it. He just had to sit back and watch, and smile when the confirmation came. He couldn't wait, and his tingling nerves were a testament to that. As he took another sip of his drink, the breaki
