"911, what's your emergency?" The sharp female voice cut through the chaos. Cage glanced at the ongoing mayhem before replying.

"The restaurant at 163 Main Street is being attacked and vandalised- we need help right away." He didn't want to reveal his identity and decided to keep it simple and short.

The operator assured him that help was on the way before he hung up the phone. He watched in pain as the building got battered.

His relief was short-lived as he thought about what to do to stop or curb what was going on before the police arrived. He realised that he couldn't just stand idly by and wait for them to arrive before doing something. But at the same time, he knew that his life was of the utmost importance. Presenting himself to the enraged crowd would be a very bad idea. They could mangle him before he knew it. He also thought about the possibility that there was someone behind the protesters. They might have been hired by an enemy to cause the destruction which was going on

Within ten minutes, the team.of cyber security officials arrived at the scene. They looked so grim as they stared at the cooks, it was clear from the foregoing that they knew what was going on and who might have had their hand in the recent attack. Cage was very happy with the findings, at least none of the chefs or any other personnel that were involved would be able to deny it when the evidence was very clear in front of them. One of them, a short and bald middle-aged man, dropped his bag on the table and took out a laptop. He quickly connected a chip to the USB port and waited for the video to play. "Here." He said, staring grimly at the screen as the video began to load up. Cage's face spread into a slight smile as he stared at it. Finally, they were going to get what he deserved. He couldn't believe that there could be no single evidence recovered despite the amount of security he had installed here. It was so hard to believe that anything of that magnitude would ever happen, a

"Yes, I know him. I know Mr. Daryl." He spoke in a hushed whisper before confirming it to the man on the line. "I never imagined he would stoop this low." He said, before getting up from his seat. His mouth had gone dry from shock and anger. The detective continued after a very long silence that seemed to confirm his fears, everything that he had been dreading. "Well, Mr. Cage, we have reason to believe that Daryl orchestrated the attack on your restaurant after the findings. We have tried to track the others who were involved but they didn't leave a single trace, you know we can start with him for now and maybe get to the others once it has been confirmed that he is guilty for what happened." Cage still found it very hard to believe that Daryl had actually gone this length to show him how really hostile he was. "What? But..but hey? What possible reason could he have for targeting me?" He asked himself, but he immediately remembered the feud that had started the whole thing. But he

Daryl, however, did something that he didn't do in the least. He nodded, chuckling right after the detective had stated the reason for his arrest. "Watch me get out of this Cage. You will see." He added, before breaking into a sick laughter. Cage could barely hold back his disgust, the fact that he was relishing his evil acts told him how much of a psychopath this man was. "You think you can destroy everything I have worked for and get away with it? Watch me lock you up and make you rot in jail for your crimes. This is the end of the road for you." He growled at Daryl before nodding at them then taking him away. Daryl replied sharply. "You are the one who has been destroying everything, Cage. I'm just levelling the playing field and keeping everything balanced, as it should be." He replied before he began to walk after the police officers. "You despicable bastard! You will regret every bit of this. You will pay for what you've done!" He growled again before reminding himself that

The next day, Cage decided that it was best to go to her family house and take care of the situation himself. And just as she had complained to him the the before, Cage met them yelling at each other. He observed the scene before him, and he couldn't help but feel uneasy as he watched the whole thing. Her cousins were engaged in a bitter argument as they yelled at each other, and accused themselves of several other things. He was shocked. "I can't believe you're suggesting that I should take care of Dad! You're the oldest, you should be the one to do it!" The girl who looked the youngest among them thundered, glaring at her elder brother. It was clear that she was spoiled. "Oh, please! Don't act like you're too busy to help out. We all know you're just lazy and selfish!" He growled back at her. The third, who had seen Cage and Chloe quickly went to diffuse the situation. "Both of you need to calm down. This isn't going to help the situation!" She yelled, but her words fell on deaf

Trevor couldn't believe that this was happening. He'd gotten off the call with hopes that Cage wouldn't do anything, but when he had gotten off the phone with Cage, he couldn't believe it. It was still very hard to assimilate the words he had heard. They were devastating, utterly devastating. The threat and the calmness in his voice, he was still finding it very hard to believe a single word of it. "It's a fucking bluff," he said under his breath as he kept pacing the entire room. There was a lot more to this. "There is no way he's going to be able to freeze my accounts. That's not going to happen without a court order." So far he had been able to stay under the radar because of the palms he had to grease. It had saved him a lot and hearing what was about to happen meant a lot of things. It meant there was no way he could report to the authorities because they would find out what he had been doing and there wouldn't be a way to cover up the skeleton he'd been hiding in his cupboard

He trusted their abilities, but hearing that Chloe had been rescued was everything he could ask for. He couldn't wait to see her come back to him again. As soon as this was done, the Gedan Family would be shooting themselves in the foot. They had made a very big mistake the moment they decided to take her away from him so they could manipulate him into giving her up. He was going to make sure they suffered and got what they deserved. There was no mercy here. The silence was heavy where he stood and it was only broken by the occasional rustle of leaves in the breeze. He couldn't shake the images of Chloe's terrified face haunting his mind. He continued to stand there, patiently waiting. It wasn't long before he heard the sound of an approaching car. It pulled him from his thoughts as he walked to the direction. A black S

Be thoughts were filled with worry for her un or child and for Cage. She knew he would come for her, but she had no idea how or when. BEFORE THE DAY ENDS

That night was the longest night in his life. While the rest had gone to sleep, he stayed awake, restless and shaken. Even with the thought that she was not hurt at the moment, he couldn't risk the dread that had already engulfed him. Nothing made sense to him him anymore. He just wanted to see her safe and he knew he was going to pull off something extra to get this done. He was back home and no longer at his office now, but the Gedan family was still out here, and they had to be stopped. That was if the abductors weren't just trying to implicate them as the real suspects when they weren't. Cage was so angry and wondered how they had been unable to see that something like this could happen. Well, he didn't blame himself. There were no leads, no suspicious events that had led up to the kidnapping. It just happened out of nowhere, sending him crashing back into the world of hurt and pain and worries that he thought he would gone past now. He had to stop them and that was what he was a

    FOOLPROOF

"What happened?" He asked, the concern in his voice was as silent as a summer afternoon. Cage took a deep breath and answered. "Chloe has been kidnapped. And they want me to sign all my properties over to the Gedans Family in exchange for her release. I never saw anything of this sort coming but it looks like they have been planning it all along for a long time. I won't be surprised if I find out that they are connected to the problems we have been facing lately, especially with Marcia. They could be the ones who told her to do what she did and now that their plans won't work, they opted immediately to abduct my wife. Those bastards, once I have my hands on them I'm going to make sure they regret whatever they are doing right now." Cage said, growling and punching the table with his clenched fist. A day ago he was happy that he had been able to curtail the situation but right now, everything had just gotten worse and probably gone back to square one. There was a big silence, after

    A VERY BIG ONE

Cage sprinted back to his car as soon as he began to understand what was going on. He drove back home as fast as he could with his thoughts racing madly. He didn't know what to believe or think about. The fact that she had left an hour ago made him so worried and no matter how he tried to push the dangerous possibilities off and tell himself that she was OK, he couldn't. He knew that something was very wrong when he arrived home and rushed inside, calling out her name with a very panic-filled voice. "Chloe! Chloe!, are you here?" The house was eerily silent and he went to check the cameras after that. He found out that nobody had been there the whole time he was away. He had a very bad feeling in his gut at this point as he wondered what could have happened to her and where she might be at this point. Just for good measure, he checked every room, every corner, but there was no sign of her. The panic set in as he realised she was truly missing. He decided to wait, hoping she would wa

    A CHILL OF DREAD

Cage felt so relieved and carefree as he drove down the familiar route to Chloe's family home. He was very happy because the problem had been solved at least and he just had to find out the main person behind the fake rumours. That wasn't a pain in the ass since whoever it was would be kept at bay as soon as he knew that he was wanted and a lot of people were looking for him. He had made a mental note earlier to call Dave to know if he'd found anything about the voice of the man who had spoken with Marcia over the phone. He was snapped out of his thoughts when someone honked at me from behind. He matched the accelerator and the car began to race down the tarmac. The later afternoon sun had already cast shadows on the earth but he barely noticed. He couldn't wait to get to the house and finally meet her. He was worried about what their conversation was going to sound like. He wondered if it would be awkward or emotional, considering what had happened between them before now. He remin

The next day, he decided to call his lawyer again. He had decided that there was no need to rest anymore until he had gotten the whole problem sorted out. He felt uneasy when he picked up the phone and called his lawyer, Mark. The feeling was there with him, and it refused to leave him no matter how much he tried to. "Mark, I need to talk to you." He said, sounding tense even though he was trying everything possible not to sound that way. Yes, they had taken care of Marcia and her lies but that wasn't just working for him. It wasn't enough motivation because what faced them was bigger than Marcia, and even more deadly. He still remembered the attack of the assassins who had been sent to end his life. The thought made his gut

    BREAKING NEWS!!

Two days later, Cage was in his house, particularly sitting at his desk in his study. The last few days had been a whirlwind of confusion and anxiety. The cops were still outside the estate where he was leaving, so he hadn't been able to leave the house since then, until he had been proven to be innocent. It was a very tiresome time for him and he couldn't wait to be done with it. That was the moment that his phone suddenly rang. He thought it was from his assistant or Mark but when he peered into the phone it was a strange number. It was strange because he didn't know who it was and because the caller ID was only composed of very short numbers that nobody in the state used. It almost looked foreign, and he prayed that it was the government house so he could be done with this. But on a second thought, he wondered what it would be if it wasn't really the government house but instead the perpetrator. His heart pounded as he picked up the phone. "Hello, this is Cage. " He said, doing e
