Bryan felt dizzy. He couldn't accept that his fiancee had cheated on his brother. He turned around and ran out of the hospital. He needed to calm down now.
"Bryan, stop!" Tracy shouted. She was a little scared. If this scandal was made public, her and Jake's reputation would be ruined.
Jake's face was gloomy. He didn't expect that his secret would be overheard by Bryan. However, he had another way to let Bryan keep the secret.
Dead men don't reveal any secrets.
--
Seeing Bryan rushing out of the hospital, Josephine frowned.
"Bryan, have you properly apologized to your brother?" she shouted, but Bryan didn't answer her at all.
Bryan ran out of the hospital. He was walking like a zombie on the street, and he didn't know where he was.
However, a van suddenly appeared in front of Bryan. Before he could react and call for help, several strong men rushed up, knocked him unconscious and pulled him into the truck.
In the hospital, Josephine still didn't know what was happening outside. She walked into Jake's ward angrily and asked, "Jake, what’s wrong with Bryan now? I asked him to apologize to you, did he do it?"
Jake looked aggrieved and said, "I don't know, brother had a poker face after he came in. When he saw Tracy here, he seemed to be jealous and ran out without saying a word."
"I must teach this beast a lesson!" Josephine said viciously after hearing what Jake said.
"Don't blame Bryan, mom. His wedding was postponed all because of me. I should be the one to find my brother and apologize to him." Jake said hypocritically.
Josephine smiled and said, "It would be great if Bryan could be half as sensible as you. He always blames us for treating him badly, but he never thinks about whether his personality is extreme."
Jake got off the bed and said, "I'm going to go find Bryan and apologize to him now."
Josephine quickly stopped him and said, "Your illness is not cured yet, that little beast will come back on its own."
Jake smiled and refused his mother's obstruction. He said, "I must sincerely apologize to my brother!"
Josephine was touched by Jake's words. She hugged her son and said, "You are so kind, Jake."
Josephine left the hospital with Tracy and Jake. However, a small truck suddenly stopped in front of Jake. Several big men rushed out of the vehicle and forced Jake into the vehicle.
"Help!" Josephine screamed, but the minivan drove away in the blink of an eye, leaving Josephine screaming in fear on the road.
"Someone has been kidnapped! Call dad!" Tracy quickly reminded Josephine that in fact all this was Jake's plan. She had to stop Josephine from calling the police, otherwise the police would definitely find out Jake's conspiracy.
Only then did Josephine call Neil with trembling hands. The moment she heard Neil's voice, she cried uncontrollably.
"Neil, our child has been kidnapped!"
---
In a dark warehouse, Bryan slowly opened his eyes and found that he was tied to a chair.
However, to his surprise, the person sitting opposite him was actually Jake.
"Jake, what do you want to do?" he asked angrily.
"What do I want to do? Bryan, wake up, you are the one who ruined everything." Jake said with a sneer.
"Obviously, my parents, sisters, and I are a family. If you hadn't been found suddenly, we would still be living happily together! I should be the one asking you what you want to do, right?"
Bryan was shocked by Jake's words. He knew Jake was not a good person, but he didn't expect him to be so shameless.
"In this family, you are the redundant one! If you behave better, we will reward you with some care, but why you must find the secret between me and Tracy?" Jake's smile made Bryan feel cold, and he continued, "Do you think you are important in this family?"
He waved his hand, and a strong man respectfully handed a mobile phone to Jake. He looked into Bryan's eyes, dialed Neil's phone with a sneer, and turned on the speakerphone.
"Who are you! Did you kidnap Jake? We will give you whatever you want!"
Neil's voice was anxious, and Jake sneered and spoke.
"Mr. Neil, I do have your kid. Give me 5 million dollars and I will let him go."
Obviously, Jake used a voice changer, and Neil didn't even recognize that it was Jake's voice.
5 million dollars, this is the most amount Neil can come up with.
Neil was silent for a moment, then gritted his teeth and said, "No problem, let him go immediately and I will pay you."
Jake laughed and said, "Don't be so hurry, Neil. I mean, a son costs 5 million, and both of your sons are here."
"Two sons? You also have Bryan?" Neil's voice changed.
"Yeah, two sons, 10 million dollars." Jake looked at Bryan with a smile, his eyes full of viciousness.
"I...I don't have that much money." Neil said frustratedly.
"It's okay Neil, I didn't say you have to take both children away." Bryan's mouth was gagged. He tried to speak, but there was no way.
"Five million, you can just take one child away. I'll give you time to raise the other five million." Jake said.
Bryan's eyes were full of despair. He didn't want to hear his father's answer because he knew what the answer would be.
But he didn't want to hear this answer coming from his father's mouth.
"Let Jake go first, don't hurt him!" Neil didn't hesitate at all.
Bryan felt that all the strength in his body was drained. Jake laughed and said, "Wise choice, Neil. I will send you the address to pay the money. In an hour, when we get the money, we will release your son."
"Okay, don't hurt him, otherwise we won't pay!" Neil said.
"Of course, but your other son..." Jake deliberately brought the topic to Bryan.
Neil said impatiently on the phone: "Bryan? This is all his fault. I will raise money to save him, but he really needs to reflect on it."
Bryan listened to Neil's words and thought everything was so funny. He tried his best to please his family, but he was never truly loved.
Jake hung up the phone. He patted Bryan's face gently and said, "Look, blood relationship is nothing. People who are not loved are redundant."
He waved his hand, and several big men pulled Bryan up from the chair. The door of the warehouse opened, and there was a cliff outside, and below it was the sea.
"Bye, Bryan. Redundant guy."
Bryan didn't put up any resistance and allowed the two big men to take him to the edge of the cliff.
Faced with death, he smiled instead.
Yes, in such a family, what's the point of living?
Jake is a bad person, but are his parents and sister good people?
Before the two big men could push him, he walked to the edge of the cliff, closed his eyes, and fell back.
If he could choose, he would rather never return to this family.
The pain, the numbness, the sensation of dying all of it vanished in an instant, Bryan blinked in confusion, trying to make sense of his surroundings. To his surprise, he found himself lying in a hospital bed, dressed in a patient's gown. As he concentrated on his surroundings, Bryan couldn't shake the feeling of disbelief that washed over him, he had been certain that he was dead, yet here he was, alive and seemingly well, and he still couldn't understand who saved him and brought him to the hospital. Bryan's thoughts and confusion were shunned by the sound of a familiar voice, shouting with anger. "I don't believe it, he's perfectly fine, he is too healthy. How did he suddenly become ill? You're lying!" He watched as his mother expressed her anger towards the doctor, her voice fuming with fury. At first, Bryan assumed she was just worried about him, but then her accusations turned sharper, "You must be paid off by him, there's no way he's sick enough to be unconscious for a week.
"Thanks to your tricks, Jake has been miserable at the amusement park, as he was forced to come back before he even enjoyed" Josephine sighed, she doesn't even know how to express her frustration, "and I had to endure being insulted by that doctor, how much longer do you expect us to suffer because of you?" "Suffer? Who's the one suffering here?" Bryan retorted, no longer able to tolerate the way they're accusing him, "have you ever stopped to consider how I feel? All you ever care about is Jake, why is it always about Jake when I'm the one who is suffering?" "What exactly have you suffered?" Josephine's anger triggered as Bryan talked back at her, "if you hadn't come back home, you'd have been out there struggling to survive in that orphanage, we have provided everything for you, food, clothes, shelter, but instead of being grateful, you're just greedy for more, you're being selfish, Bryan." Bryan forced a bitter smile, trying to hide the pain inside him as he fought back the tear
Bryan had reached his breaking point as he is fed up with hearing their continuous insults, spotting a knife nearby, he grabbed it, sending everyone into a panic, they couldn't figure out why he suddenly armed himself Jake rushed to hide behind Josephine, while the three sisters huddled in a corner. Neil, just a few steps away from Bryan, looked bewildered. Even the butler, usually unbothered, was momentarily stunned, unsure of what Bryan would do next with the knife in his hand, they're almost being like holding their lives in their palms since the knife is gripped by Bryan's hand."Bryan, have you lost your mind? What do you think you're doing?" Neil shouted at Bryan, despite not knowing his intentions behind holding a knife, "do you want to become a hero or what by holding a knife in hand like a thug? Where do those ill manners you got from orphanage would go? Is that what they taught you?" "Darling, why you're enraging him? Can't you see the knife in his hand?" Josephine shouted
"What?" Everyone was stunned into silence noticing the room which not even servants use was used by Bryan but he never complained, the butler cleared his throat before explaining, "When young master Bryan arrived home for the first time, you instructed me to assign him this room, saying he shouldn't be spoiled by luxury too soon."Stacy looked uncomfortable even to step in the room, "but haven't they changed rooms over the past four years?" The butler shook his head, as they entered, they found themselves in a small, dimly lit room, there was hardly any ventilation or sunlight, and the bed was as hard as the floor, lacking a proper mattress, Neil pointed to a worn-out study table, "What on earth is this?"The butler doesn't even know how to begin about this study table which Bryan received out of pity from a mere butler, "Young master Bryan didn't have a study table, and when I suggested getting one, you insisted he should adjust to the lifestyle here slowly rather than be spoiled wit
Josephine showed no remorse for her actions, which stunned the butler, she sighed expressing her frustration, "How can he be so childish at his age? If he is unhappy with his living conditions, why didn't he say something to us? Who asked him to adjust in this room, did we force him or what?"The butler couldn't find the words to respond, so Josephine continued, "He acted obedient so well, but now he's making a scene just because things didn't go as he wanted, who does he think he's embarrassing by living in this room?""But madam," the butler began to give an explanation, but Rosaline cut him off, "you don't have to speak for him, at least you should've told us about this sooner. Yes, we wanted to teach him the value of money, but who asked him to get a part-time job like some roadside beggar for a few pennies? If people find out the heir of the Winterwood family is working like a low-class laborer, it'll be humiliating for us, Did he think about the family's reputation at all?"Aft
The doors slammed shut right in Bryan's face, the orphanage, which had once meant everything to him, had turned its back to Bryan when he was in need.Realizing he had nowhere to go, Bryan started to walk away until he heard a voice call out, "Bryan, wait dude!"Turning around, Bryan saw Ronald running towards him with a bag in his hands, as Bryan stopped, Ronald hugged him tightly, "Man, how can you walk so fast? I nearly lost my breath thanks to you," Ronald panted heavily.Bryan hugged him back, feeling a rush of emotions, ge never thought he would see Ronald again after his death, Ronald looked surprised by Bryan's sudden change of behaviour, Bryan usually hated hugging but now clung to him instead of pushing him away."Are you okay?" Ronald asked, being concerned not understanding Bryan's behaviour. Bryan didn't say anything despite Ronald speaking to him, but Ronald understood the situation through Bryan's silence, "Don't blame Sister, seems like it was your father who told her
"Young master!" Bryan's attention diverted towards the familiar voice calling out for him, it was none other than his butler, John, approaching him, "Mr. John?" Bryan's surprise was quite evident in his voice as he doesn't know why John came to meet him.Ronald, standing nearby, let out a sigh, "First your sister, now the butler, who's next?" He mumbled under his breath but Bryan heard it clearly."Shut up!" Bryan glared at Ronald before turning his attention back to John, "What are you doing here Mr. John? How did you even find me?"Mr. John remained calm, explaining, "It wasn't difficult, young master, the only place you love to visit mostly is that orphanage, so I went there, through them I heard you weren't allowed at the orphanage, so I searched these streets until I found you."Fearing he might be here to convince Bryan to come back, before he could say something, Bryan himself took the initiative to speak, "If you're here to take me back, please leave Mr. John, I'm not ready to
"What?" Bryan asked not understanding what John is trying to say since his voice is too low, but John quickly changed the topic, "it's nothing, young master."Bryan hummed, not wanting to push John to speak, John then offered finally thinking it of a last way, "Young master, if you're not ready to stay in my place, at least let me take you to a nearby motel, it's very affordable, and it is owned by someone I know very well, so I'll get a room for you there to stay for two days."Bryan hesitated, knowing he had no money, but Ronald intervened before Bryan could say something, "please take us there, I have some money." Bryan wanted to object, but Ronald continued holding Bryan's hand, "You can pay me back later, let's go for now Bryan."John helped Bryan and Ronald secure a room at the motel for two days at a low price which is affordable for Ronald to pay, the small room, barely big enough for one person, didn't even have a bed and also a common bathroom, John felt sad seeing the condi
