UPBRINGING IN ORPHANAGE

Bryan informing the guests about the wedding update, looked at the father in an apologetic way, "Father, I'm really sorry for wasting your time, I'll let my driver drop you at your place."

He walked straight away from there without looking back at the venue once filled with laughter, cheering and clinking of glasses, now filled with void of confusion and disbelief as everyone are bewildered by the sudden incident.

Ronald followed Bryan, as he headed to the parking lot, "Hey man, where are you going?" he asked being extremely concerned about Bryan.

Bryan remained silent despite Ronald calling him continuously, even Ronald also didn't mind the silence of Bryan as he can feel the pain of Bryan, unlike other times, this time, the humiliation and insults he faced in front of everyone hurts deeper than before, so Ronald decided to stick by Bryan's side.

"Bryan, you don't have to be like this man," Ronald tried to comfort him, "we all know what they're like, I know anyone can get hurt by the way they behaved, but man don't take it to heart, you don't have to be sad because of the people who don't care about you."

Unlocking his car, Bryan entered, but before even Bryan settled in the car, Ronald got into the car sitting right beside Bryan.

Bryan glanced at Ronald being puzzled of Ronald's behaviour, "What do you think you're doing?"

"Where do you think you're going?" Ronald raised his eyebrow.

"I'm going to the graveyard, wanna come?" Bryan asked with a frown as he was clearly frustrated at that moment.

"Wherever you go, I'll always be with you" Ronald declared with a determined tone, hearing to Ronald's words Bryan rolled his eyes, "seriously!"

"I would even follow you to the hell," Ronald replied without hesitation making Bryan's emotions softened because of Ronald's unwavering support from the childhood to till today, whether it is in orphanage or now, Ronald is the only one who tried to stick by Bryan's side.

As Bryan got busy in driving, Ronald was continuously speaking, but Bryan remained silent, lost in his thoughts, finally, they arrived at the hospital.

"Are you sick?" Ronald was shocked as Bryan came straight to the hospital from the wedding venue, "since when have you been feeling unwell?"

"It's not me who is sick," Bryan gritted his teeth, "there's a devil lying in that hospital bed, pretending to be on the verge of death, waiting for sympathy."

With that, Bryan stormed into the hospital, leaving Ronald raising his hands in disbelief.

Ronald had thought Bryan was just upset and acting strange because of being heartbroken, but now he realized there was more to Bryan's behavior than he actually thought, "so, you're here to offer your sympathy to the guy who ruined your wedding?" Ronald asked completely being clueless of what's running in Bryan's actions.

"Let's see," Bryan went towards the receptionist's desk. "Can you tell me where the patient named Jake Winterwood is getting treatment?"

"Just a moment, sir," the receptionist replied, checking her computer screen, "he's on the top floor, in a VIP room sir."

Bryan and Ronald entered the elevator, and Ronald couldn't resist making a sarcastic comment, "you should've brought some fruits or refreshments, man, don't you know how to greet a patient?"

Bryan glared at him indirectly saying he was annoyed by him already, "there is a limit to sarcasm, don't you know that?"

"There is also a limit to being nice, you should've known that" Ronald retorted clearly being annoyed just like Bryan.

Bryan remained calm when they are in the elevator to the top floor and entered the VIP room.

Inside, Bryan's mother and sisters were in tears being seated around Jake, while his father was deep in conversation with the doctors. Bryan's so-called bride was fussing over Jake, trying to get him to drink some fruit juice.

Ronald cleared his throat, unable to bear the emotional scene which seemed to be foolish to him, everyone turned to look at Bryan, finally noticing his presence thanks to Ronald.

"Brother," Jake spoke with his usual pitiful expression and soft tone, "I'm so sorry, because of me, your wedding had to be called off, I was so excited about your wedding but didn't imagine this to be coming, I'm extremely sorry brother."

If Bryan hadn't already known Jake's true intentions, he might have believed Jake's cunning act, despite knowing Jake's true colors, Bryan couldn't help but feel a bit of doubt for a moment because of Jake's convincing acting of being sorry for ruining his wedding.

"It's alright," Bryan replied calmly stopping himself from showing his frustration, "what exactly happened and how did you end up with an accident?"

Jake began to explain, "well, brother" but choked up.

Josephine immediately shouted at Bryan, "are you out of your mind, Bryan? Instead of being thankful that your brother is okay, how can you ask him about the accident? Can't you see how traumatized he is? What exactly are you trying to do Bryan?"

"Don't worry, Mrs. Winterwood, Mr. Jake has no physical injuries, he's just shaken up from the accident and is in shock, but otherwise, he's completely alright" the doctor reassured Josephine.

"Shocked?" Ronald repeated, seeking confirmation from the doctor, "So, no injuries at all from the accident?"

"Thankfully, no injuries, you can take him home even right now, he is completely fine," the doctor confirmed with a smile.

Bryan couldn't understand why his parents were so worried when Jake wasn't hurt and completely fine, "Mom, Dad, Jake is okay, doctor himself confirmed it, can't we just go back to the wedding?"

Jake, with tear-filled eyes, took his mother's hand, "brother's right, Mom, I'm fine, you all need to go back to resume the wedding, it's more important than me right now, though I want you all to be with me only still I can't be selfish because it's brother's wedding."

"Are you crazy, Bryan?" Josephine sighed with frustration, "how can you be so insensitive? Your brother is in this state, and all you can think about is your wedding? Why are you this selfish Bryan?"

"Do you think I'm in the mood for a wedding now, I'm not leaving Jake alone," Tracy declared sitting beside Jake, "I'll stay with him, he needs me."

"I thought you were more responsible, Bryan, this is disappointing," Neil's disappointment towards Bryan is clearly evident in his words.

"Dad, no matter how well he is raised in our home or even if he belongs to our bloodline, where would the origins of growing up in an orphanage would go," Mia sneered, "he would never fail to remind us about his upbringing in the orphanage."

"He's just like those orphans he grew up with, lacking culture and manners, disgusting!" Stacy, the second eldest sister rolled her eyes as if Bryan was ruining her mood.

"Both of you, get out of the room, it's time for Jake to rest," Nancy, the eldest sister, ordered, trying to chase them away from there.

Bryan remained silent, ready to leave, but Jake stopped him. "Brother, you'll stay, right? I want to see you when I wake up, will you be here only for me?"

"Don't worry about him, Jake, he'll be waiting for you outside, when you wake up, I'll call him in," Josephine reassured him, Jake smiled, but Bryan couldn't shake the feeling of Jake's smirk, as if he were proud of ruining another happy moment of Bryan just like always.
