8. FIGHT AGAIN

In the evening, Daren went back to the restaurant to meet the manager.

Daren's curiosity was still very high. He was sure that this plan would go smoothly.

"Sorry. You came to the restaurant this afternoon, right?" A waiter immediately recognized Daren.

She came up to Daren and asked the question.

"Yes. I came this afternoon to ask about the manager of the restaurant. Did he come?" asked Daren curiously.

He had no intention of having dinner or just sitting back and relaxing. There were important matters, which were more interesting than eating and so on.

The waiter shook his head, "I don't think the manager is coming today."

"Really?" snapped Daren off and the waiter nodded confidently.

"That's right, sir. It seems the manager is not coming tonight. Because until now, she hasn't come... On normal days. The manager never comes late. She's always on time."

The waitress, however, couldn't offer much of an explanation, as she hadn't been told by the manager whether she would be coming or not?

Daren smiled wryly. What he had planned was not what he had expected. It turned out that tonight, the manager wasn't coming to the restaurant. For that matter, Daren was very curious.

Daren thought hard about how he could explain this to Joshua and Xena. They must be disappointed, because the plan that has been carefully prepared, apparently did not go as desired.

Daren didn't want to go home empty-handed. However, he also didn't know where else to look for information on EAGLE EYE headquarters?

Returning empty-handed was bound to make Xena furious.

"Hey, you little guy!" someone shouted from behind.

He shouted loudly, so all eyes were on him.

Daren turned around. This was quite a surprise. It had been less than twenty-four hours since Daren had been in the District, but bad luck seemed to have caught up with him long ago.

"Who are you calling a little man, sir?" asked Daren without showing any emotion.

"Still asking questions, you idiot!" cursed the man and immediately tugged on Daren's shirt collar. He had a terrifying look on his fierce face.

Because of the man's tight grip, Daren's body was lifted up. However, Daren still remained calm until this moment.

"You're the one who hit my friend!" the man pointed out with a fierce, angry stare.

Daren raised one eyebrow, astonished. It came as a complete surprise to him. Who had he beaten up? In the past few days, there had been so many people Daren had fought, that he didn't know which of them was this man's friend?

"Friend? Which friend are you referring to?" Daren asked innocently.

"My friend! The man you beat his body into submission this afternoon!" He tightened his grip on Daren's shirt collar. The man, then, raised his arms, so that Daren was lifted up.

It didn't take long for Daren to recognize the man in question.

"Apparently, that big belly, is your friend? Why, I feel like you're different?" He smiled mockingly.

"You idiot!" Cursing in annoyance, he threw Daren's body, like flying a paper airplane. It was very light. However, it made a mess of a table and chairs.

The restaurant was again filled with hysterical screams at women. Again, those who were there had to witness a fight for the second time.

Daren got up. Despite being slammed and his ass hitting the table, Daren still managed to smile broadly.

That smile meant that anything violent was no longer a big deal to Daren.

He patted his shoulders, which were dirty from the fall. The man clenched his hands into fists. Ready for a follow-up attack.

"Come here, sir! I'm not a baby, hiding in its mother's arms," Daren challenged seriously.

Being challenged made the man even angrier. Those who were there, hurriedly left the restaurant. They were afraid of becoming the target of a fight between Daren and the man.

Who would win?
