Oliver sat at his desk, attempting to focus on his work. However, his mind was still reeling from the confrontation with Carter. He knew he had angered him more than he ever had before. Oliver knew that he had to remain calm in the office, but his frustration was palpable.

As he tried to focus on his work, Oliver’s phone buzzed. He looked down to see that Merideth, his stepbrother’s wife, was calling him. He hesitated for a moment before answering.

“Hey, Merideth. What’s going on?” he asked.

“Oliver, I wanted to talk to you about earlier,” she said.

Oliver’s heart sank. He knew that he had crossed a line by arguing with Carter, and he couldn’t bear the thought of causing more tension between him and Merideth.

“I’m sorry,” Oliver said, “I know I shouldn’t have confronted Carter like that. I just...I’m tired of always being in his shadow.”

Merideth sighed. “I understand, Oliver, but you can’t forget that he’s the CEO. He’s in a position of power, and we have to respect that.”
