The room filled with Anna's heavy breaths as her hands typed much faster on the typewriter. She could notice how she was shaking already while trying to stay calm.
“I wasted so much time earlier doing nonsense! I was supposed to do and finish this in the afternoon!” She was stressed out as her deadline was near.
She has love to stress myself out too much?! She need to send this to her editor before the said deadline, or else she might lose her work!
“God! I'm still new at this type of work and was just starting, I could not mess this up.”She gazed at the timepiece standing just beside her table and saw that it was already 8 said, "27 in the night.
She had lots of work to complete that she has no other option but to call her brother and take his help.
“Jake! Jake, can you come here for a moment?” She called his brother. But she didn’t get any response from him.
Anna stood up for a moment and stretched out. She grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and quickly got back to work. Unfortunately, the bottle slipped from her hand and dropped on the typewriter.
“ Shit—did it just got stuck?! Jake! Can you come here, please?! I think my typewriter just broke! I'm chasing a deadline!” she yelled helplessly.
Fortunately, for Anna, her brother, Jake, finally heard her and came in for help. He quickly examined what happened.
“Do you think you can fix it?” she gave him a small pout.
“Nah, that thing's already old and rusty. You knew that this would happen already. You should've bought a new typewriter that you could use.” Jake refused her as he knows how clumsy his sister and this time she needs to learn from it.
“But it's already late at night! My editor's going to kill me! I don't want to break my words to her! I still need to send her a lot of the scripts that she requested! “
“I'm sure she won't.” Jake replied back.
Anna was already going hysterical as she heaved a sigh. Her hand went to massage the sides of her head as she looked at her brother more seriously.
“Here's the thing... if your work is that important, why don't you just use Dad's?” Jake suggested it to her.
“What?” she asked with a frown.
“I'm sure you would finish what you're doing in time! Dad was once a screenwriter too and his typewriter's still good as new! It'll be such a shame if it would just rot in the attic.”
“Are you kidding me right now? You know I can't do that!” she was hesitating to use her dad’s thing because not only it was old model but the memories of her dad will make her emotionally turmoil.
“What?! Of course, you can! He was a screenwriter for years... specializing in suspense and thriller genres! Wait... isn't it strange how the genres he specializes in were the same as what you are feeling right now?” Jake pushed her sister to use it.
“You should be joking. You know that it has been said that using a dead person's beloved items isn't good”
Jake immediately burst out laughing as soon as he heard his sister's claim.
“Oh, come on! Do you really believe in that kind of superstition?! What are you? Living in the '80s?”
Anna rolled her eyes while she thought about what she was going to say next.
“You should be going right now. Time is running. “ Jake reminded her and leaving no choice but to use it .
“I've told you! It's already late at night! It is scary to go to the attic at this hour!”
“Oh you're being dramatic! It's still early and we just ate dinner.” Jake rolled his eyes and was about to leave.
“Can you please go with me—” Jake cut her off it between,
“No. I still have a lot of things to do. You can do it by yourself, Anna.”
Before she even knew it, Jake already left the room without even bothering to hear her reply. Anna swallowed hard before she looked again at the paused work she was doing.
“I should go. There's no way I'm going to be a chicken. Work is more important, yes, Anna, you hear it. I shouldn't waste more time. “ But she again tried to ask Jake one last time and try to bribe her.
“Jake! I'm going to give you money if you'll go with me! It's just that that place is dark! I'm thinking it might even be haunted!”
“Stop being a baby, Anna! Just use a flashlight and get the typewriter then you're done!” Jake yelled back and got busy with his vide games.
Anna rolled her eyes as her face became bitter. She grabbed the flashlight and just started heading to the attic.
“All he does is play video games! I don't make requests that often! Why can't he come with me?Nevermind, I can do this. I'm an independent woman, I don't need to be a damsel in distress. “
Anna brought out the wooden ladder hanging from the ceiling and started to crawl her way up, making the old wood slightly creak and dance.
As soon as she reached the attic, she immediately went to search for the typewriter of her late father.
“I wonder where could it possibly be at... oh wait! I think I know where it is—” she looked around to find it.
“The box at the corner.I... I-I was actually the one who stored and took care of Dad's things before... there's no way I'd forget.”
In no time, she found the typewriter. It was a bit dusty so she had to brush the dust off. Anna became busy checking the typewriter... not until she heard footsteps at the other side of the attic. Her throat ran dry as she took the flashlight and looked around... but found no one.
“Jake?! Are you there? I'm telling you... you should stop messing with me. I've got no time for jokes!” Anna took steps nearer to where she heard the footsteps and tried to search for her brother, but found no one.
“Jake…”Cold air blew to the back of her neck. In a snap, her flashlight stopped working, causing her to be surrounded by darkness. Anna was frozen into place.
“Anna…” a voice called her slowly.
“ Ah, Fuck!”
With shaking hands, Anna grabbed the typewriter and quickly ran out. Out of breath and felt like passing out as she called for her brother.
Anna was still shaking from what just happened. She turned pale as she reached her brother's room.“What happened?! Why are you screaming?! And... why the hell? Are you shaking?” Jake asked her worriedly, as her body was trembling.Anna thought that it was his brother who tried to scare her off in the basement.“Jake... you're a bastard.”She snarled at him. “What? What did I do now?” Jake frowned as he had no idea what his sister was talking about.“Y-You're the one who's in the basement trying to scare me, aren't you?”“Did you even see me there for you to accuse me of those words?” Jake growled back after the accusation she put on him.Anna started to cry as Jake became alarmed. She then bit her lower lip hard as she wiped away her tears.“ You scared me there and you know that I don't really like any of your tricks and pranks. I don't even think I could still have the courage to walk up to the attic again after this. What happened tonight was enough to traumatise me forever.” Anna
Jake scoffed and shrugged his head slowly. Jake expressed, "I still can't believe what you accused me of earlier. I'd never bother to do such a thing as what you're telling me."Anna retorted, "Oh shush. Stop pretending. We're the only ones in this house, and if you're trying to tell me that there's some sort of ghost who scared me, then stop it."Jake countered, "Who knows? Maybe it's Dad since you kept mentioning him. Maybe he heard you?"Anna snapped back, "If you won't say anything good that'll help me calm down, then I'd appreciate it more if you would just keep quiet, alright?"Jake relented, "Fine. Give me the typewriter. I'm going to get it repaired."Anna questioned, "What typewriter?"Jake clarified, "Yours. We can't afford to repair both. We don't have that much money."Anna acknowledged, "Right."Jake suggested, "You could use Dad's for a short time."Anna hesitated, "But it's old."Jake reassured her, "Yeah... but I'm sure it would still work since it has just rested i
Anna felt strange. The windows were closed but she felt cold. Her eyes roamed around the place as she walked. Not until she stumbled upon the figure of her late father sitting on his chair. Anna said, " Dad? Is that you?” Anna tried to slap herself as she checked if she was dreaming or not, but nothing happened. " Dad... is that really you? I can't believe this.A-Are you typing a new story? I'm a scriptwriter now dad, I'm now also a writer, and... and you're my main inspiration. There are so many questions bugging my head for a long time now that I'd like to ask you. Dad?”Anna frowned. Anna said, "Can you hear me? Wait a minute... this scene feels so familiar yet foreign at the same time. Did this happen already before?"Anna repeated, "I don't get it." Anna saw the large mirror on the side of the room and saw herself being confused and amazed at the same time.Anna said, "Am I dreaming?"Anna repeated, "This is creepy... how come I can talk and think about things I want...
Anna just finishes to shower and was in her bedroom alone to rest.Anna said, " How can I forget what happened to me last night? I can't tell Jake what did I see when I woke up, I don't know what would he do if he knows. I would tell him if I remember everything that happened to me last night. When Anna can't seem to fall asleep in the middle of the morning. She decided to start writing on the typewriter or her dead father to let time pass, then a vengeful spirit tried to communicate with her."Jake, is that you?" Anna said. I'm going to write some script first because I can't sleep. I will rest when I'm exhausted. I'm grateful."Anna," the ghost said."Jake, what do you need?" Anna asked. Please don't bother me anymore.""Anna?" the ghost asked. Then Anna realizes that it was not the voice of Jake. And she became too panicked when she realize that. The ghost spoke, "Anna..."Who is it, Anna asked? Present yourself!""All right," the ghost said.Anna asked, "How are you doing?T
Anna was so afraid of what she experienced that she immediately shouted the name of her brother and the ghost Vanished." Jake!”, she yelled loudly. Jake immediately enters her sister's room to see what was going on.Jake seemed worried in his voice. "What happened?"Anna's voice shook with terror. "Help!"Jake started speaking urgently. "Why, what happened?"As Anna said, her voice wavered. "There's a ghost!"Jake's worry intensified. "Where?"Anna had a strained voice. "She vanished when you entered my room."Jake's eyebrows shot up. "What does she want from you?"Anna trembled in her voice. "My body."Jake sounded disbelieving. "What?"Anna blurted out something. It desired to have dominance over my body. Please assist me.Disbelief was evident in Jake's voice. "What are you talking about?"Anna sounded frightened. "She talked to me and explained her plans."Jake spoke in a worried and sceptical tone. "What plan?"Anna described the horrific experience in a trembling voice. "Sh
Anna was afraid of what the ghost could do to them.Anna's voice was tremulous with terror. "I'm afraid!""Of what?" inquired Jake.Anna said, "Of all things." For me, all of this is new. I'm not sure how to approach this issue. I don't know why, out of everyone on the planet, the ghost chose me. Why me?"I can't answer those questions," Jake informed her. However, you shouldn't be worried because I'll be by your side the entire time. The ghost won't hurt you, your elder brother promises.""But, Jake... We know the ghost has already killed two people," Anna said, expressing her anxiety. I had no idea that it could use my body without my consent. If we don't know how to prevent it from utilizing my body once more, how can we defeat it?""How, Jake?" inquired Anna."I'll make the impossible possible," Jake comforted her. I swear to protect you as long as I'm here with you, but I can't say when."With regret, Anna said, "I'm sorry that you're dragged into this problem."Jake was not go
The ghost tried to convince Anna in any way possible because she needs her permission to stay longer in Anna's body. The ghost spoke, "Anna...""Please, please, just leave me alone," Anna begged. My goal is not to commit murder."With assurance, the Ghost said, "You are not killing somebody!""But you told me that you needed my body to be able to get your revenge," Anna shot out. You stated to me that you simply wanted them dead, and I am the only way you can do that."As the Ghost freely acknowledged, "Yes, I told you that."Anna countered, "You see? As I previously stated, I don't want to be the murderer and I don't want to kill anyone."For the record, the Ghost said, "You are not the one that would be killing them.""Then, who?" Anna pressed."Me!" the Ghost admitted."Using my own body?" exclaimed Anna."Yes!" the Ghost confirmed."Then it is like I am the one that killed them," Anna realized. I may end up in jail if I allowed you to use my body to kill someone. I don't want to
The ghost was frustrated with Anna, and she tried to force herself into her."I won't let you have my body!" Anna angrily exclaimed.Exasperated, the Ghost replied, "I tried to be kind and talk to you. I was asking for your permission because I assumed that since you are a girl, you would be aware of the distressing experiences I have had, but I have since realized that this is not the case. I should not have wasted time conversing with you and obtaining your physical form so that I may exact my wrath."With unwavering determination, Anna said, "You can't use me as a weapon to be able to do your plan.""I won't let my killers get away with what they have done to me," the Ghost grew more determined. To ensure that others would suffer the same fate as me, I would stop at nothing."Anna cried out in desperation, "I want to stop killing people! Please just let me be.""Once I use your body, you won't be able to remember everything that I did with that permission," declared the Ghost, unf
