"Lyra what do you want to do when you graduate from here?"

 She remembered when Rex had suddenly come to the question one day while they were sitting by the fountain during the holidays as it was about to end and they had already found Kelvin- a mistake but they were not aware of it yet.

 She looked at him.

"Well if you are asked me this question in my first year I would have told you that I wanted to become a powerful wizard, then join the circle and maybe after a while go on my own…prove to my parents that I can actually make it even though I'm a girl in fact show them that it has nothing to do with my gender,"

 She looks at him feeling the blood rushing up to her cheeks.

"I'm sorry that sounded a little too ambiguous didn't it?"

 His eyes were on the fountain and for a moment she thought that he had not been paying any attention at all, that was until he clicked his tongue and then tapped his foot on the ground.
