“Fireball max level reached.” it sounded like neither a man nor a woman and it was on constant repeat and it got even worse when he was training so Rex decided to take a break from training for a while and focus on reading on enchantments but the voice did not really him a break, he was barely able to sleep anymore and he walked into classes looking like death warmed up and almost all of the time lately.
Though the professors barely scolded him, this was because they did not even see him as a student anymore but rather just a spare part that came to warm up the seat. They even liked it or at least preferred it when it came late or missed classes altogether.
Then it started one sunny afternoon, after coming in late as usual Rex looked around for an empty seat of course nobody wanted him to sit next to them and so we have to go all the way to the back where there was some space but the girl that was sitting there immediately stood up and went to find another seat.
He could barely hear what the professor was teaching from all the way in the back and decided to just nap for a moment then the voice came again and it was louder than before.
“Fireball Max le-"
”Who the hell are you...?!"
Everyone's eyes suddenly shot over to him and he was breathing intensely as he glared out all of them, bolting up.
“Which one of you is it? Which one of you is doing this to me... You are even clocking your voice so that I will not recognise it!"
The students began to exchange classes with each other and then whispered while the professor addressed Rex.
” Young man, what are you babbling about? Please sit down so I can teach my students that are serious...“
Rex looked at the professor.
”Ma, is it you?"
He asked her with a scratchy voice.
“Are you the one in my head? Because you are driving me crazy!”
The whole class immediately started to laugh.
“This guy has totally lost it!”One guy two seats ahead of him said.
“ Let's stay away from him... He's not going to be any fun now that he has lost it...”
Rex could no longer take it, he just ran out of the lecture hall, then he went to the library at least that place will be very quiet and he wouldn't have to bother hearing any other voice other than the one that was plaguing him.
Or at least that was what he had hoped for and he got some books and enchantments to see if there was anything he could learn about the voice that was wandering in his head and why it would not let him be.
His eyes eagerly scanned one page after another reading every letter so that he would not miss anything by mistake and then he came up with something that was very interesting.
The book said that no wizard had ever been able to train an enchantment so it's the final level that such a thing was basically a myth because no one has been able to achieve it despite years of training and studies even the most talented of wizards had been incapable of this.“is it possible that I'm just losing my mind?” Rex thought to himself as he held one page flipping to the next as he practically had his head buried in a book and he was mumbling to himself the voice came back again repeating the same phrase about the max level and before I knew it he was dating his head around again looking for the source of the intense voice.
As he was moving his head about two students noticed it and they were about to sit next to him when they saw that he was the one sitting there and immediately got up from their seats.
“I can't believe I almost sat next to the fireball freak I think I'm going to be sick what if his loser vibes rub up on us?"
One of the students asked the other immediately shivered.
” Gosh I can't imagine such a life. I would not even be able to get up from bed every day knowing that I can only do one enchantment... But have you heard?"
Rex didn't understand if the people in his year thought he was utterly deaf because they would say the worst things about him right in front of him without having the courage to say it to his face or at least a little dignity to hide while they do it.
“oh what happened to him this time?!"
The student's friend chirped.” they say that he has finally lost it, that he keeps hearing a voice in his head...“
” wow that's so creepy, if he's a nut bag now he's not going to be much fun to play with how sad at least he was good gossip material before I wonder how long it will be before he finally gets expelled...“
They were finally headed out then to another part of the library leaving him with his thoughts.
” Are these people really right?“ Rex asked himself, digging his fingers into his hair that was ruffled now.
” What if all this intense training, the pressure I'm gossiping has finally made me snap? If that turns out to be true I'll probably be expelled!"
As you were having these thoughts again the voice came back and it was louder than ever it seemed as if his skull was going to shatter and the ground beneath him then he decided that he could not run away anymore and so he had to face it head-on he closed his eyes and asked again.
“Who are you?”
.
.........."So you are one of the reasons that I have been stuck in a rut all this time?" Rex said angrily to the voice clenching his fist as he works to a more secluded area of the library so nobody was with him while he was having a conversation seemingly with himself. "Do you know how many enchantments that people in my own year have probably learnt huh ?" He asked them with his stern voice as he raked his fingers through his hair. "About 4 to 5 ..." The voice said almost not currently and the young man rested his back against the wall taking a deep breath as he held up all of his fingers. "In an entire year, I've only learnt one enchantment ..." "That's absolutely true." "I became the laughingstock of my entire school." "That is also correct." Rex felt like he was going to explode in the next second but he took some deep breaths trying to calm himself down. "So this is just how your system works ... who cares that I had to go through all of this?" He pulled out one of the chairs t
Rex was going to practice his new enchantment but then he saw some students in his year going into another hall it seemed like a professor had scheduled a sudden class probably one that goes behind in the curriculum for that year and of course, nobody told him because they would rather see him kicked out of school than attending his classes. The moment he walked into class tongues had already started wagging, I knew they were talking about him again. The voice had given him a chance to become even more laughable than before, but he told himself to be patient and in a few moments he will be showing them his new enchantment.A smile immediately wrapped around his face as he got to a seat that immediately became empty the moment he slipped into it.In a few moments, the professor walked in, and the lanky bearded male scanned the class with a scrutinizing gaze."I'm sure that some of you are very unhappy about this sudden class, but please if you have something else to do then you should
The next morning, he woke up with a wide smile on his face, to the point that it seemed as if he was trying to touch his ears with the corner of his lips. His roommates were particularly curious about what had gotten him so cheerful that early in the morning when he had practically stumped into the room the evening before, complaining about a class that had been scheduled out of the blue. But since he was an outcast in the room there was no one that was going to ask him why he was so cheerful that morning, so they did the usual off taunting him, but he did not even spare them a single glance and just got ready for his first lecture that day. The person that will be teaching them that morning was the same professor that had embarrassed him the day before, this left his roommates even more confused as to why he was excited about that. but Rex was not able to make it to the class before he noticed that some people were following him from behind. When he stood waiting for them to pass,
The news that the wonder student of the first year had learnt another spell spread across the entire university like wildfire and for the first time in over a year people were talking about him but not in a gossiping manner. For the next few days, Rex was relieved because nobody came to bother him or bully him as before, and it was nice walking along the halls without having the fear of someone setting out their leg for him to fall, or going to his seat to find little pins scatter around it as a way of booby-trapping it for him. This was because all of his bullies were cowards who were actually just jealous of his gifts and so now that you have learnt a new enchantment and had executed it so nicely for his first try they were afraid that he would continue unlocking more enchantments. but as the days passed they watched him like vultures that wanted to swoop in on a corpse waiting for him to pull out another out and enchantment but then they realize that that was not happening any
The bullies were surprised to approach them in the hallway and they were almost tempted to rub their eyes to make sure that they were not seeing an illusion because if they weren't they would not understand why she was so furious as she was marching towards them."Lyra?" one of the bullies called her name when she was finally in front of them, Lyra was the second most popular student in her first year and after that, but unlike Rex, she remained popular on a positive note because she excelled in all her classes though she was not as advanced as Rex was with his fire skill she was one of the leading students in his year. She had never once looked his way before Rex thought in his mind as she walked towards them."Don't you guys ever get tired of picking on Rex, he didn't even do anything to you!"she said to the bullies as she whipped back her brown hair that had golden highlights."Come on, Lyra, are you sure that you saw us right?"said the only girl among the bullies who had always
After he made a bet with the bullies that became the new hot topic at the University of Jared, everyone was talking about it eventually it got to the ears of the professors and then one professor took a particular interest in it, a lanky disciplinarian had graduated from the University for over three decades as the best of his year.So he summoned both of the boys to his office because he wanted to make some things clear."A wizard's word is not to be taken lightly..."he said to both of them."... and in this university, we did not only teach you how to hone your powers, but how to become responsible members of society that can handle this power... and responsible people do not lie or go back on their word..."The reason for his long speech was actually that he wanted to get involved in the bet. He had been one of the professors that had been most disappointed when Rex stopped developing. He had hoped that he would be the student that would finally break his record, so after hearing
As soon as both of them walk into the library together eyes were already being targeted at them and Rex casually looked at Lyra to see her reaction to all of this she was just walking beside him as if she did not notice the people that were staring at them and even whispering too.He could already guess what they were thinking, what was the most popular girl in the entire University doing with the biggest loser. She decided that she was going to leave eventually the moment she saw her people were going to be treating her differently so he did not have to worry himself too much about lecturing her."I've noticed you are coming often to the library these days... rather than the training hall..."she said to him as he was casually relaxing in his seat, initially, he wanted to ask how she knew his daily routine but then he waved it off and just decided to focus on studying there was no way he could get 100 gold bars so he had to pass this exam."Rex it seems that you are a very quiet pers
The professor was surprised to see Lyra sitting next to work, but he did not make any comments about it and just went home with the important announcement that he had come to tell them in the first place. "The exams have been adjusted by the higher council of wizards that run this University which I am also a member of I must note..." Rex began to feel his breathing becoming regular but he maintained a straight face because you could sense that the girl sitting next to him was staring at him intensely as if she was trying to shoot a hole through his head then his eyes remained on the professor as the man said that the decision to adjust the exams had gone through a lot of thorough examination and had been seen as the best decision. "There is going to be a group section of the exam, so if you do well in your other classes but then you fail in the group work it is seen as an overall failure..." As soon as the professor said this the entire hall was taken over by every morning as the
Rex and his Friends woke up to an unexpected surprise one day, Crystal had disappeared when they went to Miranda's uncle to report he said that Crystal had willfully dropped out of school."Without telling us?'Miranda had all but cried out, the rest of the team was also gripped with a shock that he would just get up and leave."This is just what I hate about him, the jerk is always scared of being a burden … that's probably why he ran away!" Then she began to sob and then Lyra placed a comforting hand on her shoulder even though she felt like crying herself Rex could not be here to see his friends like this all know that one of them was gone so he turned to the Head wizard and asked if there was any way he could give them Crystal's location. He looked pensive about this for a moment for when he saw how dismayed his niece was he finally gave them the information that they were looking for and even prepared a carriage for them along with a letter that would permit them to miss class
"Pathetic, and you call yourself a noble!" This was something that Miranda had gotten used to being told every single day of her life from the moment that she had been born that she was a failure that would one day disgrace the family and she was pathetic. All these things that they her she swallowed like a sponge and I've solved it into her life so before she would even make an attempt at learning anything the first thing that would come to her mind was; failure. She tried to hide it by talking loud and acting as if it didn't affect her even though she would immediately talk about how she was sure somebody was looking down on her. On the night before her departure to the magical Jerard University, her father called her into his study and then he briefed her on a lot of things one particularly stood out."I'm taking you to a Uni, where even someone as pathetic and useless as yourself cannot fail…high scores are practically dished out to nobles, the only thing that you have to do
Lyra awkwardly held a cup of water towards her friend Miranda look at it for five straight seconds and see if she had all the secret of magic sunk in the water she was trying to dig it out with her eyes it was when Lyra a little bit to grab her attention that she's slightly tilted or her eyes and then it fell back to the water before her and finally carried themselves up and reached for the cup. "Thank you," she said, not even slightly higher than a whisper before she carefully shipped it as if she was testing it for poison, then she placed it on her lap and became as still as a statue once again before she had been given the cup of water. She has been acting like this ever since she heard the news."It doesn't make any sense …" she finally managed to say after some more seconds of silence as if she had been thinking deeply about what next to say and that was all she could come up with as she robbed t
"When are you finally going to tell us?"A lot of other things happened and now night time had come Crystal's roommates had not returned back and so they had a lot of privacy to talk in his room when workers are going to see him that night he had been resting on his bed with his eyes planted on the roof as if he was reading a note that had been waiting for him there, but then when he heard the knocking it was concentrating not even answering at all before he finally stood up and did so.On the other side story his friend with a worried expression that was masked with a smile as he walked in and then they talked about other things as if Crystal had not mentioned that really dire one in the head wizard's office. He thought he will be able to pretend for a long but eventually, he could no longer pretend anymore that something like this was not going to happen and so he spoke asking Crystal if he was ever going to tell them."At first
Laura felt herself being abruptly woken up from her slumber by her friend and then without being told she could so that there was pandemonium in the air and instinctively stood up and followed him as they both rushed into the head results of his to see what was going on that was causing such a pandemonium.I went they worked in it was as clear as day even though they wished that it wasn't, the chair with the head wizard normally sat was scattered all over the ground as if it had been disassembled to be arranged again, the head wizard himself is panting frantically and then he turned to see Lyra and Rex."Miranda stop your friends are in the office now,""Then they should step out …" she replied without looking back."You always do this to me, you are always picking on me for no good reason because the truth is that you blame me …"Lyra and Rex were looking at each other with shock and confusion thickly pa
"Have you eaten today?" Those were the first words that she ever said to him and the first time they had ever been that close he used to see her before in places around campus surrounded by a couple of friends. Sometimes they were more, sometimes to be less but each time she spent on them like there was no tomorrow. The questions that came from her lips were so peculiar, that he had to lift his head and look her up in the eyes when normally he would have just kept his eyes planted on his book without even sparing high class since he was just that unenthusiastic about people."I'm sorry what?"She placed her hands on her hips and repeated her question as if there was nothing out of place for one stranger to ask another if they had eaten."I don't see how that's your business"Crystal never got the chance to complete that blunt sentence before his stomach growled loudly in the lecture Hall but luckily for him most
Crystal paused for a few breaths as he was climbing up the stairs that would later lead to the hallway that would further lead into the head wizard's office. "What kind of trouble has that girl gotten into now?" He mumbled under his breath as he kept walking faster and faster even though his body was really against it he remembered the words of the healer wizard that had treated him. "You have a very weak constituency …" the healer wizard, who was even blunter than he deadpanned, the healer wizards were known as the most unsympathetic type which was kind of ironic because their job was mostly treating others that had been injured. But then again it fits perfectly for the job because they are passiveness to many emotions such as empathy made it easier for them to function in their job without constantly breaking down or worrying much, however, this was still an ethic of their work that made people very reluctant to go towards them because of how emotionless they were. "I already k
Two days flew by in the blink of an eye the only thing that made me feel drugged was the fact that Miranda and Crystal had not settled their issues rather they are the most even sat down to table the fact that they had issues at all and so the chances of them even having to talk about not settling the issues had not even come yet. In the meantime, crystal seem to be isolating himself from the entire group altogether and then there was Miranda trying to love-bomb them from the way things appeared, she would buy them all sorts of lavish gifts as if she was trying to burn out her entire allowance before the session would even end and most of the time they had to return the gifts or at least try to. Her response to this was to squint her eyes cross her hands and then glare at them as if she was waiting for the fire to burst out of those eyes."Where are both of you being so fussy it's just a couple of gifts, the polite thing would be to accept them and just say thank you." It would h
A clash between Miranda and Crystal was not something that the group had ever really expected to happen, even though Crystal was naturally blunt to everyone including Miranda, there was a special kind of patience that you have for all the members of his team, especially Miranda. He will take care of her as if she was her arranged guardian or something like that, no matter how much she seem to have done something that would have normally irked him, but it appeared as if he had been holding back a lot of feelings for a long time and does bottle of feelings are finally exploded in the outburst that happened in the healer's building.Miranda on her own part was expecting him to have an abyss full of patience for her and when he didn't meet that expectation she also flared up as well.Honestly, they both said hurtful things to each other but the only issue now is who was going to put his or her pride away first to apologize and save the friendship. But it didn't look like it was going to
