“Fireball max level reached.” it sounded like neither a man nor a woman and it was on constant repeat and it got even worse when he was training so Rex decided to take a break from training for a while and focus on reading on enchantments but the voice did not really him a break, he was barely able to sleep anymore and he walked into classes looking like death warmed up and almost all of the time lately.
Though the professors barely scolded him, this was because they did not even see him as a student anymore but rather just a spare part that came to warm up the seat. They even liked it or at least preferred it when it came late or missed classes altogether.
Then it started one sunny afternoon, after coming in late as usual Rex looked around for an empty seat of course nobody wanted him to sit next to them and so we have to go all the way to the back where there was some space but the girl that was sitting there immediately stood up and went to find another seat.
He could barely hear what the professor was teaching from all the way in the back and decided to just nap for a moment then the voice came again and it was louder than before.
“Fireball Max le-"
”Who the hell are you...?!"
Everyone's eyes suddenly shot over to him and he was breathing intensely as he glared out all of them, bolting up.
“Which one of you is it? Which one of you is doing this to me... You are even clocking your voice so that I will not recognise it!"
The students began to exchange classes with each other and then whispered while the professor addressed Rex.
” Young man, what are you babbling about? Please sit down so I can teach my students that are serious...“
Rex looked at the professor.
”Ma, is it you?"
He asked her with a scratchy voice.
“Are you the one in my head? Because you are driving me crazy!”
The whole class immediately started to laugh.
“This guy has totally lost it!”One guy two seats ahead of him said.
“ Let's stay away from him... He's not going to be any fun now that he has lost it...”
Rex could no longer take it, he just ran out of the lecture hall, then he went to the library at least that place will be very quiet and he wouldn't have to bother hearing any other voice other than the one that was plaguing him.
Or at least that was what he had hoped for and he got some books and enchantments to see if there was anything he could learn about the voice that was wandering in his head and why it would not let him be.
His eyes eagerly scanned one page after another reading every letter so that he would not miss anything by mistake and then he came up with something that was very interesting.
The book said that no wizard had ever been able to train an enchantment so it's the final level that such a thing was basically a myth because no one has been able to achieve it despite years of training and studies even the most talented of wizards had been incapable of this.“is it possible that I'm just losing my mind?” Rex thought to himself as he held one page flipping to the next as he practically had his head buried in a book and he was mumbling to himself the voice came back again repeating the same phrase about the max level and before I knew it he was dating his head around again looking for the source of the intense voice.
As he was moving his head about two students noticed it and they were about to sit next to him when they saw that he was the one sitting there and immediately got up from their seats.
“I can't believe I almost sat next to the fireball freak I think I'm going to be sick what if his loser vibes rub up on us?"
One of the students asked the other immediately shivered.
” Gosh I can't imagine such a life. I would not even be able to get up from bed every day knowing that I can only do one enchantment... But have you heard?"
Rex didn't understand if the people in his year thought he was utterly deaf because they would say the worst things about him right in front of him without having the courage to say it to his face or at least a little dignity to hide while they do it.
“oh what happened to him this time?!"
The student's friend chirped.” they say that he has finally lost it, that he keeps hearing a voice in his head...“
” wow that's so creepy, if he's a nut bag now he's not going to be much fun to play with how sad at least he was good gossip material before I wonder how long it will be before he finally gets expelled...“
They were finally headed out then to another part of the library leaving him with his thoughts.
” Are these people really right?“ Rex asked himself, digging his fingers into his hair that was ruffled now.
” What if all this intense training, the pressure I'm gossiping has finally made me snap? If that turns out to be true I'll probably be expelled!"
As you were having these thoughts again the voice came back and it was louder than ever it seemed as if his skull was going to shatter and the ground beneath him then he decided that he could not run away anymore and so he had to face it head-on he closed his eyes and asked again.
“Who are you?”
.
.........."So you are one of the reasons that I have been stuck in a rut all this time?" Rex said angrily to the voice clenching his fist as he works to a more secluded area of the library so nobody was with him while he was having a conversation seemingly with himself. "Do you know how many enchantments that people in my own year have probably learnt huh ?" He asked them with his stern voice as he raked his fingers through his hair. "About 4 to 5 ..." The voice said almost not currently and the young man rested his back against the wall taking a deep breath as he held up all of his fingers. "In an entire year, I've only learnt one enchantment ..." "That's absolutely true." "I became the laughingstock of my entire school." "That is also correct." Rex felt like he was going to explode in the next second but he took some deep breaths trying to calm himself down. "So this is just how your system works ... who cares that I had to go through all of this?" He pulled out one of the chairs t
Rex was going to practice his new enchantment but then he saw some students in his year going into another hall it seemed like a professor had scheduled a sudden class probably one that goes behind in the curriculum for that year and of course, nobody told him because they would rather see him kicked out of school than attending his classes. The moment he walked into class tongues had already started wagging, I knew they were talking about him again. The voice had given him a chance to become even more laughable than before, but he told himself to be patient and in a few moments he will be showing them his new enchantment.A smile immediately wrapped around his face as he got to a seat that immediately became empty the moment he slipped into it.In a few moments, the professor walked in, and the lanky bearded male scanned the class with a scrutinizing gaze."I'm sure that some of you are very unhappy about this sudden class, but please if you have something else to do then you should
The next morning, he woke up with a wide smile on his face, to the point that it seemed as if he was trying to touch his ears with the corner of his lips. His roommates were particularly curious about what had gotten him so cheerful that early in the morning when he had practically stumped into the room the evening before, complaining about a class that had been scheduled out of the blue. But since he was an outcast in the room there was no one that was going to ask him why he was so cheerful that morning, so they did the usual off taunting him, but he did not even spare them a single glance and just got ready for his first lecture that day. The person that will be teaching them that morning was the same professor that had embarrassed him the day before, this left his roommates even more confused as to why he was excited about that. but Rex was not able to make it to the class before he noticed that some people were following him from behind. When he stood waiting for them to pass,
The news that the wonder student of the first year had learnt another spell spread across the entire university like wildfire and for the first time in over a year people were talking about him but not in a gossiping manner. For the next few days, Rex was relieved because nobody came to bother him or bully him as before, and it was nice walking along the halls without having the fear of someone setting out their leg for him to fall, or going to his seat to find little pins scatter around it as a way of booby-trapping it for him. This was because all of his bullies were cowards who were actually just jealous of his gifts and so now that you have learnt a new enchantment and had executed it so nicely for his first try they were afraid that he would continue unlocking more enchantments. but as the days passed they watched him like vultures that wanted to swoop in on a corpse waiting for him to pull out another out and enchantment but then they realize that that was not happening any
The bullies were surprised to approach them in the hallway and they were almost tempted to rub their eyes to make sure that they were not seeing an illusion because if they weren't they would not understand why she was so furious as she was marching towards them."Lyra?" one of the bullies called her name when she was finally in front of them, Lyra was the second most popular student in her first year and after that, but unlike Rex, she remained popular on a positive note because she excelled in all her classes though she was not as advanced as Rex was with his fire skill she was one of the leading students in his year. She had never once looked his way before Rex thought in his mind as she walked towards them."Don't you guys ever get tired of picking on Rex, he didn't even do anything to you!"she said to the bullies as she whipped back her brown hair that had golden highlights."Come on, Lyra, are you sure that you saw us right?"said the only girl among the bullies who had always
After he made a bet with the bullies that became the new hot topic at the University of Jared, everyone was talking about it eventually it got to the ears of the professors and then one professor took a particular interest in it, a lanky disciplinarian had graduated from the University for over three decades as the best of his year.So he summoned both of the boys to his office because he wanted to make some things clear."A wizard's word is not to be taken lightly..."he said to both of them."... and in this university, we did not only teach you how to hone your powers, but how to become responsible members of society that can handle this power... and responsible people do not lie or go back on their word..."The reason for his long speech was actually that he wanted to get involved in the bet. He had been one of the professors that had been most disappointed when Rex stopped developing. He had hoped that he would be the student that would finally break his record, so after hearing
As soon as both of them walk into the library together eyes were already being targeted at them and Rex casually looked at Lyra to see her reaction to all of this she was just walking beside him as if she did not notice the people that were staring at them and even whispering too.He could already guess what they were thinking, what was the most popular girl in the entire University doing with the biggest loser. She decided that she was going to leave eventually the moment she saw her people were going to be treating her differently so he did not have to worry himself too much about lecturing her."I've noticed you are coming often to the library these days... rather than the training hall..."she said to him as he was casually relaxing in his seat, initially, he wanted to ask how she knew his daily routine but then he waved it off and just decided to focus on studying there was no way he could get 100 gold bars so he had to pass this exam."Rex it seems that you are a very quiet pers
The professor was surprised to see Lyra sitting next to work, but he did not make any comments about it and just went home with the important announcement that he had come to tell them in the first place. "The exams have been adjusted by the higher council of wizards that run this University which I am also a member of I must note..." Rex began to feel his breathing becoming regular but he maintained a straight face because you could sense that the girl sitting next to him was staring at him intensely as if she was trying to shoot a hole through his head then his eyes remained on the professor as the man said that the decision to adjust the exams had gone through a lot of thorough examination and had been seen as the best decision. "There is going to be a group section of the exam, so if you do well in your other classes but then you fail in the group work it is seen as an overall failure..." As soon as the professor said this the entire hall was taken over by every morning as the
