Nicholas took a deep breath. He could very well feel the weight of the words he'd just spoken settle over them like a heavy blanket. Lindsay was silent, her eyes fixed on the ground. The park around them seemed unusually still, as if the world itself was holding its breath, waiting for her response.

“I know you care about him,” Nicholas continued, his voice quieter now. “But I’ve been your friend for so long, Lindsay. I’ve seen how he treats you, and I just can’t stand it. I can’t stand by and do nothing.”

Lindsay finally looked up, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears.

“Nicholas, I appreciate your honesty, but this is so complicated. Mal and I have a history, and it’s not something I can just walk away from.”

Nicholas clenched his fists, trying to keep his emotions in check.

“I understand that. But don’t you see? He’s not right for you. You deserve someone who truly loves you, who respects you, and who won’t take you for granted.” She sighed, looking torn.

  • RISE OF THE ALMIGHTY HEIR    RECKONINGS

Laura Shay stood by the window of the small psychiatric hospital room, staring out at the city skyline. It was a bright day, but no one was sure on whether it would rain or not. The twilight hues painted a surreal picture, it was totally different from the mess that was her life life. Jer daughter was still too young to be going through a midlife crisis. She had only just left one marriage. Not two and most certainly not three! She wasn't even up to the age of thirty yet. Well she was on her way but not there yet. She turned back to look at Maya, whose tear-streaked face lay calm and untroubled as she lay fast asleep. She wished she could feel that peace, even if just for a moment. The sound of a knock on the door broke Laura out from her thoughts. She opened it to find Tania standing there. Tania glanced into the room at Maya who was sleeping before she looked back to Laura . "Mrs Shay, we need to talk," Tania said, and stepped inside as she closed the door behind her. "I've been

  • RISE OF THE ALMIGHTY HEIR    THE MEETING

Nicholas sat in his spacious living room. The city lights filtered through the large windows and illuminated the room. The silence he basked in alone in the room was quite comforting, it was way different from the apparent chaos that was swirling in his mind. His thoughts were interrupted by the shrill ring of his phone. Glancing at the screen, he saw the name "Bob Fisher" flashing. With a resigned sigh, he answered. "What is it?" He asked tiredly. "Nicholas, we need to talk," Bob's voice was firm, leaving no room for argument. He seemed to be urgent. But Nicholas already knew what this was about. He instinctively leaned back and then he closed his eyes momentarily. "Bob, I don't think now is the best time. I'm dealing with a lot right now." He said in a tired voice. "Maybe some other time." He opined. Bob's tone sharpened at that. "I don't care about your schedule, Nicholas. This is important. Meet me at the diner on 8th and Main in an hour." He told him sharply and Nichol

Thirty minutes later, Nicholas heard the familiar chime of his doorbell. He opened the door to find Morgan standing there, her sharp eyes immediately taking in his tensed demeanour. He let her in. "Nicholas," she greeted curtly, stepping inside. "You said things were getting complicated. What's going on?" She asked him. He motioned for her to follow him into the living room. As she settled onto the couch, he poured himself another drink, offering her one which she declined with a wave of her hand. "It's about Maya's inheritance," he began, leaning against the mantle. "Bob Fisher and his fiancée, Maya, are convinced they were scammed and are holding me responsible. Bob even accused me of being involved." He said to her, Morgan's expression didn't change, but he could see the gears turning in her mind. She was always good at assessing situations quickly and coming up with solutions. "Why would they think you were involved?" she asked. "Because I was the one who introduced them

  • RISE OF THE ALMIGHTY HEIR    THE WEDDING

Nicholas adjusted his tie as he stared at his reflection in the mirror. He let out a heavy sigh. He honestly didn't want to be here, at Lindsay and Mal's wedding, but he knew he had to show up. For Lindsay's sake, if nothing else. As he walked out of his room, his father approached him. He wore a wane smile when he noticed Nicholas' demeanour. He really felt bad that he was going to go through with this. "Nicholas," Justin said, his voice calm and steady. "Are you ready?" He asked his son. Nicholas nodded his head. He was trying too hard to cheer up. To not look like this bothered him at all even though his father knew very well that it did. "As ready as I'll ever be." He said in a somewhat chirpy voice. "Good," Justin replied. He placed a reassuring hand on his son's shoulder and tapped calmly. "Remember, today is about Lindsay and Mal. Let's focus on making it a memorable day for them." He told his son. Nicholas forced a smile at that. "Of course, Dad. Let's get going."

  • RISE OF THE ALMIGHTY HEIR    A YATCH

The following day, Nicholas awoke grudgingly with a call. He winced when the light from the windows entered his eyes and he groaned so painfully. "Hello," he said in a gruff voice. "Nicholas, we've got a lead on Vincent Laramie," Morgan said in an urgent tone. Her voice was harsh, and she didn't even bother to say good morning to him. "I need you to come to my office right away." She told him. Nicholas groaned out loud. "I'll be there as soon as I can," he said to her. After ending the call, Nicholas sat up and rubbed his temples. His head pounded, so painfully reminding him of the previous night's drinking. Despite his physical discomfort, he felt a glimmer of determination. This lead on Vincent Laramie was crucial. Just as he was about to get ready, someone knocked on the door and his father stepped into the room. "Morning, son. You don't look too well." He said as he observed him. "Rough night," Nicholas admitted as he rubbed at his temples. "Want to get some air? Mayb

Nicholas awoke the next morning with a newfound purpose. The arrest of Vincent Laramie had been a big victory to himself and his team. He couldn't let the weight of the past hold him back any longer. After a quick shower and breakfast, he received another call from Morgan. "Morning, Nicholas," she greeted him, her tone lighter than usual. "I wanted to give you an update. Vincent's being held without bail, and our evidence is solid. He won't be slipping through our fingers this time." She informed him. Nicholas felt relieved at that. "That's good to hear, Morgan. What's next?" He asked her as he regarded her. "We've got a lot of work to do to untangle his network, but we've made a solid start. Take the day off, you deserve it." She told him and he nodded his head at that. "Thanks, Morgan," Nicholas said, appreciating her understanding. He ended the call and decided to take his father's advice seriously. It was time to start living his life again. He was in fact no longer

They spent weekends exploring new places, sharing quiet evenings at home, and enjoying each other's company in a way that felt effortless and right. One Saturday afternoon, Nicholas and Charlotte decided to take a trip to a nearby vineyard. The rolling hills and lush greenery provided a picturesque backdrop for their day together. As they walked hand in hand through the rows of grapevines, Nicholas felt a profound sense of contentment. "Isn't this place beautiful?" Charlotte said, her eyes sparkling with delight. "It is," Nicholas agreed, smiling at her. "I'm glad we came here." They found a quiet spot overlooking the vineyard and sat down on a blanket, enjoying a picnic they had brought along. As they sipped on wine and chatted, Nicholas felt a surge of emotion. He had never imagined he could feel this happy again. "Charlotte," he said, his voice serious, "there's something I want to talk

Of course, I cannot say a word yet because I have no right. “Again.” He literally stripped me of all my rights right there in my presence. I cannot even say anything or even do anything. Even when I tried to talk to him, the council members immediately signaled for me to sit down. “Want to be in the Mansion and if I still want to be respected, I had no choice but accept what he wants.” I felt so angry. I felt like I was about to run mad. This was not how I planned it, but definitely, I know that one thing. “I’d actually succeeded.” Darius had finally made everything so obvious to me. He had finally made everything work perfectly for me. Because I know that he looked very angry and vengeful the last time we were having a discussion. “And I know he'

I just had to sit there like a stone and watch them argue and hate each other. And I know that this was all the plan of Nora. It was more than obvious that Nora was the one doing all this. I could see it in the way she smiled when she looked at me. It was like she was signaling me that her plans were working out just the way she wanted it to. And I could not do anything about it. Even Darius looked at me with pity. But I was not able to even make a move because I don't want to offend Nicholas in any way. • Standing Up Against Him

Standing up against Nicholas. I know it was a really bad thing now, something I'm not supposed to do. But I know that I have to do it because I have to at least show it to my mother that I'm ready to protect her and I'm ready to stand by her. But if I am not able to stand up for her, then she would continue to see me as somebody who is weak for my brother. And I am really not like that. I turn my attention back to Nicholas and make sure that my frown was deep enough for him to realize that I was really angry with him. “You cannot just take away my mother's position like that. I know that that's what she wanted to do since everyone was whispering about it, everyone was literally talking about it. Even the males were already pointing it out that you don't want my mother to be the Leader anymore. And I would not just accept that. At least think of it. Laura is not even ready to become a Leader. If you ask her a million times, she doesn't want it,” I said to Nicholas, hoping he would li

Once the meeting was already about to commence, I couldn't help but anticipate waiting for Nicholas to make that one mistake that will make Darius finally side with me. And he did it. How he was going to betray his brother by taking away the one thing that makes me a royal in this Mansion. I stood. I sat down and watched as he began his speech. “Thank you everyone for showing up here. I am really grateful that you guys came here at this time and the fact that you guys have been patient with me enough despite the fact that I never wanted to have another Partner because of what have always happ

  • Your Poor Life

Laura was not "rejecting it because she liked being poor." She was "rejecting me because she was slowly losing feelings for me." This was clearly all Darius's fault. It made me so angry that I rolled my hand into a fist, hiding it behind me so she would not see it and think maybe I am angry at her thinking about everything. I felt so angry at Darius I just wanted to crush his head into pieces. But I can't do that. Instead, I'm going to get to Leader Nora. I would make sure that Nora lets go of that position as the Leader. She's going to give it to Laura no matter what. There is nothing Laura will tell me. I guess for me to do this and for my plan to work out, I don't need to tell Laura anymore. Instead, I just need to put it into action. I looked at Laura with a smile and placed my hand on her shoulder. "You don't have to worry, Laura. I won't stress you too much anymore and I won't bother you. I see that you don't want it and I don't plan on forcing it on you. I don't want to force

  • Not Able to Help

I don't know why, but no matter what I do, Laura "does always find a way to annoy me." She "always looks for a way to piss me off." She "always does things that would make me want to yell at her, want to yell at her angrily." And now I don't know what to do. I feel so frustrated. I can't believe I am clearly giving her a higher position and she's dragging with me that she "does not want to take that position and wants to go back to the slave quarters." I know I wasn't supposed to yell at her the way I did, but I don't have a choice. She just makes me so angry and so frustrated these few days that I don't know what to do. I watched her being harassed by Leader Nora, unable to control myself. Now I am taking away Leader Nora's position and giving it to her, yet she is pissing me off this way. I know how many ladies "would die for that position I am giving to her that she keeps rejecting." I know how many ladies "would want everything I am giving to her, but yet she's still doing this t

  • An Upgrade

“How can they just come to me and expect me to believe whatever they say?” Yes, it has been hours now and I have not been doing any single work. They’ve changed my room from the usual slave quarters to now one of the concubines quarters, I guess, because I could not understand why I was taken to a better and higher grade. That was actually none of my business because I don’t really care much. I just want to be out of this place as soon as possible, because I don’t want to be forcing anything. And I know that Madame Betty is aiming at something for saying that I am now privileged and in a higher position. “It makes no sense to me.” I don't even care now. I am not allowed to eat in the kitchen with the meat anymore. They seemed to be acting so awkward, and they had given me a special place to eat, even though it was not part of the royal family. I had my dinner in silence, thinking about how everything was going. I have not seen Nicholas for some days now, and that made me a bit worri

But I know that can never happen because we are actually going to be a royal family for as long as possible after I have left the position as the Boss to Nicholas. “So why else would he want to dePosition my mother from being the Leader? Why can’t he just marry Laura Podoon, make her the Leader?” What is so special about that position that he wants to take it away from my mom? But thinking about it on and on, I couldn't help but be worried. Thinking and wondering what could possibly happen to my mom's position. “What would happen to all her dreams? I know how much she loved being in the royal family. How much she had worked jus

Let nobody recall us anymore.” I think that is what you want, right? That is what you would like right now. “And I know it will make you so happy when you get to see it that we are pushed out of this Mansion. Laura takes over. I never even expected you to behave this way. I never even expected you to act this calm when Nicholas played with your mind, made you think that Laura was a nobody so you could fall in love with her.” “All those things, you already forgive him for it, like it is nothing.” I said to Darius, hoping he would listen to me. But he continued to shake his head sideways. “Mom, you can never force me to change. You can never tel
