The elevator opened up to Alarick and his four guards. They stepped down from the elevator and onto the executive floor. The group walked towards the closest desk they could find. Alarick approached a man at his desk in his late thirties. The man looked rough and unkept for someone who was working in an establishment like this but Alarick held his tongue. It wasn’t his business if Dumont couldn’t take care of his staff. He needed something from the man. Alarick turned on his charm and spoke."Excuse me, where can I find Mr Dumont's office?"The man looked up from his desk and faced Alarick. Unlike other people who awed and marveled at Alarick's presence, this man lightly sneered when he saw Alarick. There was always one of them. Always one in a crowd that hated Alarick's guts for no substantial reason, only the fact that he was taken into a rich family and basically became a trillionaire overnight. They couldn't hate themselves for what they were and their own shitty lives so they end
"I have nothing to discuss with you. Get out of my office before I call security to throw you out." Dumont replied and Alarick shook his head."I'm not going anywhere and honestly, I thought you would be more open to work with me. It seems you have less of a brain than i initially thought, which is saying something""Why would I work with the likes of you? You haven't accomplished anything on your own even now that you are running a company. You are only here because your father found you and took you in but what were you before you were found? Nothing. A nobody with nothing to his name. You were scum and just because you got lucky in life doesn't mean you can instigate people who have worked hard to get where they are today." Dumont said with a smug smile.Dumont gave Alarick a condescending look as he spoke and Alarick countered it with a cold glare. He had done more than enough to elevate his company from where it was in the past to where it was now and Alarick was tired of people
Alarick stepped out of the office with an air of fulfilment around him. He had managed to get Dumont to agree to all his terms and although he didn't like the way he had done it, it was the only viable solution. He hadn’t planned to use blackmail but Dumont gave him an opening by being careless and he utilised it accordingly. He wouldn't let his business be tampered with because some old man wanted to play and couldn't keep it in his pants. Alarick walked past the guards and the men sensing him, followed right after. As they came out to the hallway, Alarick saw the woman Dumont was messing with earlier. Mercy. She glanced at him and removed her eyes from his figure in shame. Her head bent down to the table to avoid Alarick's scrutinising gaze as he walked by. Alarick looked at her a little longer wondering how a woman like her would stoop so low as to become the mistress of a man like Dumont. She clearly looked like she could have any man she set her mind to get if she tried, she wa
Laughter still continued as Farhad told them stories of his travels abroad and some of the things that he got to experience while being in far away countries."That fishing trip was something else. I couldn't catch even one fish though so I just paid someone else to catch it for me. After that I had a wonderful trout for dinner. Ah, the Maldives was really something."Alarick laughed and relaxed on his seat. "The great Farhad Dubois couldn't get even one fish? I don't believe it. What about all those times you caught a bunch and flaunted them in all our faces?"Alarick could see Farhad flush a bit."Last time was different. I swear it was because I didn't take my lucky fishing rod with me. I left my home unprepared." Alarick chuckled."Okay, okay. I'll take your word for it."Scarlett sat up and asked a question."So, Alarick, what's happening in your personal life? I know you've been avoiding this question ever since we came here but really I'm just dying to know."Farhad placed a
Alarick walked back into the mansion once the Dubois' car was out of sight. A masquerade ball. The idea had just popped into his head but nonetheless it was a good one. He had to make preparations for that layer today but he had to speak to his father first.Alarick went up to his father's bedroom and knocked."Come in."Cillian's voice echoed out of the room allowing Alarick to enter. Cillian was watching a video on his phone while eating an early lunch but when Alarick entered the paused it and set his phone on his bed."You're back early. That's good to see. How did your meeting with Henry Dumont go?"Alarick went over to the desk in the workspace in the corner of the room and sat down on the empty chair. He chuckled."It was eventful. I saw some things that I didn't need to see but nevertheless I got the job done..."Cillian dropped his cutlery and raised an eyebrow."Eventful in what way?""I caught Dumont having extramarital affairs with his secretary in his office.""Wow. I kne
Alarick opened his eyes and noticed he was in a field. The grass beneath his feet was soft. The cool wind danced around the blades of grass on the ground and the trees swayed by the force of it. It was all so serene. Blonde hair entered Alarick's area of vision for a moment. He blinked for a second and it had disappeared. He turned around looking for the hair he was sure that he just saw. He saw no one. Only he stood in the field. After Alarick had given up, laughter filled his ears. The sound seemed to be coming from everywhere in the field. He turned around and just like before he saw no one. The laughter continued and his expression dropped. He knew whose laughter that was. How could he not?“Grace? Grace, please come out.”Obeying the command, a hand touched Alarick’s shoulder causing him to turn around. There stood a woman with a sad look and a small smile on her face. Her white knee length toga like gown rippled as the wind blew through it and her hair swayed in the wind slightl
Alarick sat up straight on his bed with his head in his hands, groaning as he just woke up. It was early afternoon. After having a nightmare and working till the early hours of the morning, he had finally been tired enough to fall asleep which was why he woke up by this time. He didn’t bother going to meet Charlotte, he had already made arrangements for designers to visit her today and she would be busy picking her outfit for the coming event. He would check in after work to see what she had decided to wear.He arrived at work less than an hour later and began to sort through his agenda for the day. He didn’t usually come to work by this time, but he was still the boss so there was nothing wrong with taking a few hours in the morning to rest after having a restless night. Alarick stretched a bit as he stood hours later. He had been sitting down at his desk for the whole day. He never stood up once to do anything else since he had already spent his morning at home. But at least the d
The day of the event finally arrived and the King mansion was in disarray. People ran around trying to put things in order and caterers jostled crates containing drinks and food for the event. Alarick had told them that he wanted it all to be perfect and the staff strived to achieve that, constantly changing their views and opinions on the room to make the hall amazing for the night. Everything was in slight chaos. Charlotte had apologised to him after he had ordered her to make her own gown. It was an impossible task which he knew, because she had no experience with sewing. He had accepted the apology but he didn’t send for any new gowns for her. Those gowns she had rejected were custom made by the designer and brought to his home personally to show their joy for him even selecting an outfit from their collection. Did she know how much those gowns cost? Of course she didn't, if not she wouldn't have spewed such nonsense in his presence. But he agreed to let the designer and her team
