Hello readers. My favour for my sister's book wasn't granted so no free chapters. Keep reading! Thanks.
Alarick walked purposefully into the station after having his bruise checked by his family doctor. “I’m back. Has Eddie been checked out by the paramedics? Is he up for interrogation?”Upon hearing Alarick’s voice, Maurice looked up from his desk and removed his glasses.“You’re back early. Who allowed you to leave the hospital early?”Alarick, who now stood in front of Maurice’s desk, put his hands on his hips and looked around the room.“I have the right to leave when I want to, don't I?”Maurice followed his gaze. To him Alarick seemed chirpier than usual, like he was happy to be back here. He didn’t know if it was from the sheer excitement of getting important information or from the painkillers his doctor must have prescribed. All in all, Maurice knew Alarick would be restless if he didn’t have anything to do, so he decided to keep him busy.“Well, you still have to wait a bit. Take a seat.”Alarick sighed. The enthusiasm he was feeling earlier had dissipated a little due to Edd
It didn’t take long as a contract was drawn up in the police station by Allison with Alarick’s help. Alarick stepped back into the interrogation room with the paper in his hands. He placed it in front of Eddie who took it quickly to read. Alarick waited until Eddie looked satisfied with the contract he held. Alarick took out a pen from his suit jacket and slid it over to Eddie. “Is there anything you would want to change?”Eddie shook his head.“No. Everything you said you’d do is in here.”“So, you’re ready to sign?”Eddie looked at Alarick for a bit more to make sure that he was making the right decision. He had tried to think about it while the contract was being made but he couldn’t come up with a straight answer. His mind was uneasy but this was the only way he saw out of the shit show he had made on his own. Eddie took the pen on the table, let out a breath and signed the paper. He passed it back to Alarick who made sure that the paper was signed. Alarick slid the paper away an
Alarick drove as fast as he possibly could back to the police station. He ran into the building and straight to the interrogation room frantically searching for Eddie. Maurice, who was gearing up with some men, saw Alarick and shouted out his name."Alarick! Alarick! What the hell!"Maurice left the officers he was with and ran after Alarick. Alarick had a thought that they might have carried Eddie back to the cell but was lucky to find Eddie on his first try still chained up in the interrogation room.Alarick rushed over to the table and slammed his hands on it once he noticed that Eddie had a condescending smirk on his face. Alarick realized that Eddie had played them. Eddie had played him. "Tell me where Dylan is holding my family." Eddie looked up at the looming figure over him."I don't know what you're talking about."Alarick's gaze intensified."Where are they Eddie? I'm not playing around."There was silence in the room until Eddie burst out laughing. He put his hands on hi
Alarick, Maurice and the rest of the officers in the station had worked and searched for the missing offenders till the sun came up. Some of them had fallen asleep during the night but none of them left to go home. Alarick rubbed his eyes due to the stress. He hadn’t rested since he came out of the interrogation room and joined them. He turned and looked at Maurice. Maurice had tried to stay awake for as long as he could but eventually fell asleep on his desk, his face shoved into a pile of papers.Alarick turned back to the work at hand. It was currently 9:12am. Several hours since Dylan contacted him. He had little time left and so much to cover. Having the officers search with him was a huge help but now that most of them were asleep the workload had piled up. He couldn’t blame them though. They weren’t meant to be here and he knew that staying up for so many hours could take a toll on someone. Alarick’s eyes twitched as sleep called to him but he was brought out of the trance whe
Alarick repeatedly tapped his foot anxiously on the floor as he sat down while waiting for Maurice to come out of the changing room. Maurice didn’t disappoint as he walked out fully dressed in a Kevlar vest and his gun holster on full display. Alarick quickly stood up in one last attempt to convince him. The officers tried to hold him back but Alarick weaved around them and reached his target.“Maurice, reconsider this. Let me come with you.”The officers moved to get Alarick but Maurice raised his hand to them which made them stop in their tracks. He faced Alarick.“Alarick, you won’t change my mind. Your father already told me that he didn’t want you anywhere near danger and for the longest time I have gone against that because you are so insistent. I allowed you to come in on all the raids and interrogations because I was sure that if I didn’t, you would get yourself into trouble trying to have your own way. I believe in what you can do to get answers Alarick, I really do and somet
Alarick had made it to the location he was given with no time to spare. He swerved into the parking lot and parked. Once he did, he immediately bolted out of the car, leaving Eadie alone and searched around for his family or Dylan even. The lot was empty. Alarick pulled his hair. Where could they be? Alarick was about to get back into his car and try to search for his family when his phone rang. It was still the unknown number so he knew it was Dylan.“I see you’ve made it to the lot in record time. That’s good. Do you have Eddie with you?”Alarick looked around the lot in an attempt to find if anyone was watching him or if any cameras were facing him. He didn’t see anything and continued to speak. “Where are they? You said that I should meet you here so where are you?”Dylan repeated his question."Eddie?""He's here." Alarick answered.“Good. Actually, I’m not there. I just wanted to make sure that you were obedient and didn’t come with any officers. I’ll send a different location
Alarick was snapped out of his trance as he heard the sound of his name getting louder and louder.“Alarick! Alarick!”Alarick turned towards the source of the sound in a haze. Maurice held Alarick’s shirt and tried to drag him up from the ground. Alarick looked down and saw that he was now sitting on the ground. He hadn’t even noticed that he had done that. He squeezed his hands and noticed that Cillian was no longer in his arms also. Alarick turned and searched around for his father in a panic. Maurice lightly slapped Alarick on his cheek.“Alarick! Snap out of it. We have to go.”Alarick ignored Maurice and was about to stand up into the line of fire when Maurice pulled him back down forcefully. Alarick tried again but Maurice was steadfast. Maurice wasn’t sure exactly what was going through Alarick’s mind at that time but he knew he had to reassure him about his father, Cillian first.“Alarick, he’s safe. We took him to the back of the barricade. We have to leave. Dylan and his me
A ray of bright morning light rippled through the dark curtains and shone on Alarick’s eyes rousing him from his sleep.“Ugh.”Alarick raised his palm to his head to shield his eyes. He groaned and turned over covering his head with a stray pillow. The image of blood and the flowing of blonde hair in the wind before a body fell flashed in his mind. Alarick threw the pillow off his head and sat up straight. His hands touched his hair. It was real. What he witnessed was real. Grace was really dead. Alarick sighted the bottle of whisky he dropped the night before. He instinctively gagged at the thought of drinking it again. It would only make him forget and that was not what he needed. He needed to remember who killed Grace. He needed to keep the fire of hatred within him burning for him to be able to take revenge. Revenge on Dylan.Alarick stood up from his bed while simultaneously grabbing the bottle from the ground. He capped it and set it on his bed stand before stripping his clothe
