Sullivan's expression remained unyielding, his eyes fixed on Evelyn's tearful face.

His mind was racing with different options.

Initially, he wanted revenge but now after hearing her side of the story, he didn't think he had the heart to hurt her.

She had been through so much and it would be unwise of him to end her life.

He flickered his lashes at her and he could sense desperation, her sincerity, but he struggled to reconcile the Evelyn standing before him with the one who had betrayed him so deeply.

"Evelyn, even if I wanted to help you, how could I trust you?" Sullivan asked his voice firm but measured.

"You've lied and manipulated me once.

" I fell for your truck and it put countless lives at risk. What makes you think I'd ever trust you again?"

Evelyn took a step forward, her hands clasped together in a pleading gesture.

"What I did was unforgivable and I'm not here to ask for forgiveness nor am I here for you to trust me."

"Oh," Sullivan smirked leaning forward on the table
