Jason felt a pang of betrayal.

His grandfather had orchestrated this hellish "training" and endorsed Scar's cruelty.

He was expecting another form of answer but his grandfather’s face hardened, all traces of concern vanishing.

"Yes, Jason. I did. Your parents sent you away because they believed you were too weak, too irresponsible. You got your friend killed, and they feared you would bring more shame and danger to the family."
