"How are you, Pete?"

Jill's welcoming question to Pete at the Fischer's old home did not intimidate Pete. Luckily, when he learnt Jill was visiting, he managed to put away all his work tools to maintain confidentiality. As he continues to stir the coffee, he casually answers Jill's questions.

"As you can see, Mrs Reynolds. A lot has changed for me. I'm no longer working and have only been unemployed since James's death. So what can I say? I'm fine with things being quiet here."

Pete quickly brought a cup of coffee to Jill, who sat down comfortably. Instead of taking a seat across the table, Pete stood near Jill as he lowered his gaze.

Jill turned her head with her chin in her lap, while her other hand looked up at the sofa opposite, inviting Pete to sit on the same sofa.

"Don't make me feel uncomfortable with your standing around while I'm sitting comfortably, Pete. Aren't I your in-law after Aland and Shannon's wedding the day before?"
