CHAPTER THREE

“Lily, is there something you’re keeping from me? What exactly is going on at work? You seem more stressed than usual.”

Lily sighed

“My company received a new contract last month and there was an error in the calculation of the data. Our products did not meet the requirements so we need to compensate them with seven million. My company’s funds will not able to turn around which means that, I might need to at least get four million dollars of investment in a week, otherwise my company will most likely go bankrupt. I can’t do that to my employees.”

Monica’s eyes widened,

“How are you supposed to find someone willing to invest four million dollars in a week!?”

Just then, Lily turned around and sighted Kevin standing in the hallway, with a tear falling down her soft cheeks, Lily whispered.

“Kevin, I’m sorry to say this but Monica and I need some privacy. Can you please give me some space?”

Feeling distraughted by his wife’s pain, Kevin nodded

“Of course, I’ll go back to the bedroom. It’s good to see you Monica.”

Rushing back to his room Kevin promised himself,

“I have to help her. I will prove to Lily that I am the man who she married not the shell of a human being who I’ve been these past two years. I’m going to create my own empire.”

Taking out his cell phone, Kevin gasped when he saw over ten missed calls from his grandfather. Looking at the screen, Kevin asked himself.

“Why did my grandpa call me so many times? He hasn’t called me in over two years. The last time we spoke, he kicked me out of the family. I wonder if he knows about the money.”

Kevin saw his grandfather’s name flash on his cell phone. Taking a deep breath, he read the message.

“Kevin, I was wrong about you. Your family needs you right now and I know all about your recent success with Sunset Haven group. We really need that money in order to save the family line. If you don’t help us, the Williams family will collapse completely.”

Kevin looked at the message in a daze and it felt like, he was moving through a foggy dreamscape rather than the tangible reality around him. His flawless chiseled face was white as a sheet.

Just two years ago, his family kicked him out because of this same investment in Sunset Haven group. They left him with nothing just days before his wedding and now because of the same investment, his grandpa was asking him to help the Williams family.

“This feels like a sick joke.”  Kevin sighed

As he was thinking, his phone vibrated again with a message from the same number,

“Kevin, we’ve lost everything after a few bad investments and we are going bankrupt. Please save us with your new money. If you do, I promise to make it up to you. You will be a member of the Williams family again. Don’t you want to be the man who you used to be?”

Remembering his wife’s desire for him to be his old self, Kevin nodded and texted back.

“I’ll meet you tomorrow and grandpa, we have a lot to discuss.”

Ever since Kevin’s grandpa kicked him out of the family, he had to numb himself to be able to deal with the pain of losing everything and sadly, it affected his marriage with Lily and his career.

But now that his investments has paid off, the tables have turned and he is ready to be the man he used to be.

Kevin thought to himself,

“Prioritizing what comes foremost, I need to find out just how rich I really am. That should be the first thing!”

He was excited…

Kevin had been waiting for this moment for years and right now, a whirlwind of emotions overtook him. His heart raced as if it were trying to catch up to the exhilaration in his mind.

A wide grin stretched across his pretty face, revealing a contagious happiness that seemed to glow from within. His normally reserved and cold demeanor gave way to unbridled excitement.

Kevin’s eyes sparkled with a mix of joy and disbelief as he pictured his success. The twinkle in his eyes mirrored stars and he felt like, the universe had conspired to grant him this moment of triumph.

He couldn’t help but let out a triumphant whoop of joy, a sound that resonated through the room and echoed his new-found success. A flawless row of pearly white teeth adorned his smile, glistening like pearls in a sea of rosy gum.

His smile looked so captivating and gave his face an enchanting glow, casting a shimmering spell that could draw gazes like a moth to a gentle moonlit flame.

His laughter echoed in the empty space around him and in that instant, he felt on top of the world. The peak of his hard work and patience had finally paid off and he couldn’t have been happier.

He knew that this was just the beginning of a new chapter in his life, a chapter that will be filled with opportunities and possibilities he had only dreamed of before.

Kevin could not help but feel a surge of pride swell up in him as he knew that, he would be able to help Lily’s company from going bankrupt.

The weight of financial uncertainty that had burdened him for two years has suddenly been lifted, leaving him lighter than air and ready to take over the whole Veridonia.
