The sound of Clinton's office door slamming behind him echoed through the walls. His face contorted in a mixture of humiliation and rage, he paced back and forth. He clutched his phone and dialed his father's number, growing more irritated with each ring.

When the line clicked, Mr. Fence's deep, commanding voice could be heard.

"This better be important, Clinton," his father said curtly. "I am in the middle of a meeting."

"It is very important, Father!" Clinton snapped, attempting to control his emotions. "Khalid simply overruled my decision in front of everyone in the lobby. Without my consent, he reinstated that inept Lilly, and he had the audacity to use your name as justification. Is that true? Did you give permission for this nonsense?"

Clinton could almost imagine his father's expression during the pause on the other end—calm, calculating, and completely unimpressed by his outburst.

"Yes, I did," Mr. Fence finally stated in a firm and unyielding tone. "Khalid acted on my behalf.

Rowland's office was a mess, a far cry from its usual orderly condition. With a twisted expression of disbelief and frustration, he paced back and forth. He muttered to himself while running his hand through his hair."Where might it be? Rowland said, his voice shaking, "I left it right here.” After pulling open one drawer after another, he discovered the same ordinary files and office supplies that had nothing to do with his missing designs.Nothing contained the innovative jewelry design he had been working on for months, not even his desk, bookshelf, or the little safe he scarcely used. The design he was confident the investors would enjoy. As the seconds passed, he became increasingly aware of the gravity of the situation. In anticipation of reviewing designs for the upcoming jewelry line, the company's top investors were scheduled to arrive at any moment. According to the Jones family, this was a make-or-break presentation, and Rowland was done without his design."They will hav

Having been so assured just a few moments before, the other executives shifted uneasily in their seats and avoided making eye contact with Rowland.Mrs. Jones tried to regain control of the situation by clearing her throat. She addressed the investors with a tight smile on her face and a slight forward lean."Ladies and gentlemen, although Mr. Rowland's designs are admirable, I implore you to take into account the wider range of our collection," she said, pointing to the screen that was still showing their presentation. She added, "Our designs were carefully curated to reflect the Jones Company's established legacy, a blend of heritage and modernity. Our loyal customers have come to expect this from us."Although she spoke steadily, it was clear that her confidence was eroding.Mr. Jones interrupted, his voice p

Rowland walked calmly out of the Jones Company, but a rush of satisfaction heated him as he stepped into the cool autumn air. But now it was the other way around.Although it was a quiet ride home in the taxi, Rowland's thoughts kept replaying the conference room scene. A memory he would cherish for a long time was the expression on Mr. and Mrs. Jones's faces when the investors unanimously endorsed his designs. He could still taste the sweet taste of poetic justice, their self-assured exteriors crumbling into desperation. The taxi driver's car was parked in front of the modest Fence family home, the sprawling mansions that warmly welcomed Rowland anytime he arrived. The lights in the living room spilled their warm glow onto the driveway from inside

Minutes later, the door opened and a woman cautiously entered.Gini Benson, who had gained respect in the Fence Company, was in her late twenties, with well-groomed hair and a straightforward manner. Amaya intended to capitalize on her efficiency, ambition, and desire to advance through the ranks."Ma'am, you called for me?" Gini inquired, a hint of curiosity and trepidation in her voice."Yes, Gini, please sit down," Amaya said with ease, pointing to the chair on the other side of her desk. "I have been watching your work for a while now. You are industrious, resourceful, and obviously meant for a higher role than your current one.Gini sat down cautiously, her curiosity aroused, and her brows raised slightly in surpr

Two uniformed police officers strode through the main entrance, disrupting the morning atmosphere at Fence Emerald Company. Staff members noticed them right away; some whispered in low voices, while others exchanged interested looks. Clara, the receptionist, sat up straight in her chair as they came closer, her professional manner unfazed."Good morning," one officer said in a firm but courteous tone. "We are here for official purposes. We need to talk with Mr. Rowland."Clara scowled a little, knowing that she should proceed with caution. "I apologize, but I can not simply let you in. What is this all about?"The second officer, who was holding a small notebook, spoke up. "We received a call from someone within the company reporting illegal activity involving Mr. Rowland. It is critical that we speak with him and launch an investigation."Clara's frown became more intense. "You are required to release him immediately. If there is any suspicion, it will be investigated. Do you understand what I am saying? Fired and blacklisted.”The threat remained, but Gini did not flinch. Rather, she squared her shoulders and spoke firmly as she confronted Amaya's glare. "Mrs. Amaya, do you think I am concerned about the promise now? You have thrown me into a situation I did not want to be in. I will be the one behind bars for planting that bag if this blows up, which it will. The idea of my life being destroyed for something I was unaware of is too much for me to handle.
