Under the blazing sun, lovely sat on a fallen tree trunk, meters away from the Calderon mansion.
She has been sitting there for nearly five hours, not bothered by the scalding heat from above. The tears won't let up, they fell unashamed and full of regret. She can never blame Esther for all the insult she hurled at her, nor get angry by the slap which left a crimson mark and scratch on her left cheek.
Justified, yes, that was the word. Esther's actions and hate towards her are justified.
For the past nine years, the old housekeeper made it her mission to make her life miserable. Why?
Because...
Lovely released a sigh of frustration. She couldn't bear to remind herself of the words, of how her finger pointed at someone. Someone who was then judged, tortured and mind fucked by the town's people.
Her shoulders convulsed from the ache inside her heart, if only she has the power to reverse the incident nine years ago or take back the words that came out of her sixteen-year-old self, then she would. She would sell her soul to the devil in exchange for fifteen minutes. Because that's all it took. Fifteen minutes from her 16-year-old self's blabbering mouth.
Why did she say those words in the first place, why didn't she keep her mouth shut? But in her defence, it was the truth. She kept telling herself that for nine long years.
It was the truth.
It was the truth.
But it was never meant to stir things the way it did....but it did, and everything spiralled down.
Her life was never the same, her friend's life was never the same. Heck, it drove someone to insanity, and that's what's been tearing her apart. A stinging regret. And now that everything is clear, the regret and guilt dawned on her, darker and ominous than before. The heavyweight on her heart is now a billion times heavier. The claw that settled itself in her young heart is now clutching tighter and sharper.
Realization.
Truth.
Guilt.
They all made a mistake, a mistake so huge it broke someone. And as she sits under the scouring heat of summer, she found herself believing hell has swallowed her whole. She stood up and began to scream. She yelled at the wind, the tree, the fallen leaves, the dry ground, the grass, but no matter what she does, nothing will change.
Her body soon trembled from the pounding of her heart. Eyes wide and wet with tears, she grabbed a patch of her kinky locks and began pulling at it, each pull stronger than the last, but no matter how hard she tugged, the pain failed to overshadow the stabbing guilt inside her heart.
Suddenly, her chest began to ache and compress, obscuring her breath. She took in huge gulps of air as quickly as she could to ease the choking airless sensation, but it only made her dizzy.
Her vision blurred, try as she might, her oxygen-deprived body succumbed into darkness. Falling sideways, head hitting a concealed rock on the earth, Lovely Milluki's consciousness began to fade.

The town's police station was never busy. Days where their actual help is needed rarely occur with the exception of minor domestic disturbances from alcohol crazed teens. Every day is a mirror of the day before.
But not today.
The police Chief, Carlos Baldemor now sits inside his office. Guilty eyes glued to his desk, unable to look the old housekeeper in the eye.
It was barely sunlight when Esther arrived in front of his house, banging on his door like a killer out for blood, shouting profanities on his front lawn. But he knew why, oh yes, he knew damn well why. He pictured this scene happening when a call from overseas came at around eight in the evening the day before. It was the boy whom everyone presumed to have died nine years ago, Ramuel Tobias. How the woman found out is a mystery to the chief. He was planning to visit Esther at the Calderon mansion and slowly explain the situation, but it seems, faith has another purpose.
The vein on his temple appeared more prominent due to the pressure he applied to his clenched jaw.
In his head, he tried to find the right words. He constructed sentences after sentences but nothing he came up with could pacify the angry woman before him. So he remained silent. If looks could kill, the police chief would by now be a puddle of a crimson corpse. Esther gawked at him, her chest heaving so fast she can literally hear her old heart laboriously pumping blood into her veins. They have to pay. They all have to pay. She knew from the start, though failing to convince people. She knew Gen will never harm anyone.
With the exception of her brother's massacre of course. But that's beside the point, she was on a downward spiral when she committed that crime. A crime which took root from them! The Police and that wretched girl along with the townspeople. They are the ones to blame, Esther mused as she continued to glare at the man in front of her.
They pushed Gen too far, they made her lose her mind. They degraded her, humiliated her. Friends turned on her, her lover left her and no one except for Esther gave a second thought about the accusations.
"So, what do you have to say for yourself?" Esther asked sarcastically, her dark orbs fuming with anger, but the man before her remained silent. His lashes loomed over his eyes, hiding his embarrassment from her.
The clock ticked, a minute, then two and three, but still the chief of police with his wounded pride kept his head bent, eyes never leaving his desk.
Out of sheer anger, Esther pushed her chair back and stood up, she slammed both her hands on his desk, "I demand justice" she yelped, but the chief refused to say a word.
She walked around the desk, now standing a few inches from him, she poked hard on his chest with her finger. "You should have done your job properly, you incompetent, self-centred glory-seeking asshole" Esther screamed.
Tilting his head, the man finally locked his gaze with her. Esther immediately saw the tears that's streaming from his eyes. The man is full of regret, Esther can see it. Behind those wet lashes, the man sent her the words he failed to say. Esther took a step back, this time, her eyes gave way to her suppressed emotion.
With her anger subsiding, the tears finally broke. She turned away, walked towards the office door, but before she turned the knob, she left the man with a simple sentence, "make an official statement to the town's people, Gen will come back someday" and with that, the old housekeeper stepped outside.
It was by sheer luck that someone gathering wood came upon lovely's unconscious body. A carpenter by the name of Selias Matti went to the forest earlier that day to gather additional wood for his barn. He was to take the same route from earlier but decided to venture near the Calderon's place.
The trees that grew there are old and dry. He can cut some branches easily. He was on his third tree when he saw a silhouette on the ground about 10 meters from where he stood. Curious, the man walked towards it and almost lost his footing when he saw the dress maker's daughter laying on the ground.
He approached her worriedly, and when he saw blood on the girls head. He carefully picked her up and brought her to the hospital.
The nurse tending to lovely's wound asked the man what happened but he answered her with a shrugging shoulder. "Found her near the Calderon" was all the nurse heard before the man left muttering something about wood and trees.
Dr Zackary tried his best to finish his meal in silence, despite the incessant blabbering of the boy before him. Delfin is a 19-year-old teen who was an orphan from a town called Nirra, located a few miles from the hospital. He is an errand boy and was a petty thief, before one of the nurses from the same town took him in, and introduced him to a job in the hospital. He is still an errand boy, but with better living arrangements, he deduced.Zackary, despite having his attention aimed at his food, managed to subtly study the young man.He has dark brown hair, his obsidian eyes are deep-set and have what looks like permanent eye bags gracing his face. His skin is tanned and possessed quite a big built body for his age.His mouth? Well, Zackary would rather spend his meal with Damien, because the boy beside him now seemed to have swallowed a cat in heat with his nonstop stories.A few minutes later, Zackary finished his meal. He asked Delfin if he co
Dr Mori was busy with his croissant and freshly brewed coffee when Damien came into view, followed by the young Doctor he hired. He wiped the side of his mouth with a Paper towel and stood from his chair. He noticed how the young doctor stare wide-eyed at the tree before him. Dr Mori smiled and looked up. The tree is majestic, only a blind man won't find himself musing at its magnificence.Noting their distance Dr Mori brought his face down, ready to give a warm greeting only to come face to face with Damien, the man is standing too close that their nose almost touched each other.A grunt from the old doctor forced the large man to take a step back. "Damien, how many times do I have to remind you of personal space," the doctor said angrily. Damien lowered his gaze and replied, "many times doctor."DrMori shook his head briefly and gawked at the big man. "You will be punished for this," he said.Zackary who was silently listening to the conve
Blue skies, red clouds, constant shining sun, void of darkness.Bright.. Everything is always bright..Birds sang with words. The tree above her moved its leafy branch to give her shade. She looked up to it and gave her gratitude. Eyes opened from its trunk and smiled at her as he shifted her gaze on a grazing white deer. She never knew white deers existed. But in this world, she learned to expect the unexpected. The grass changed color, the moon sometimes have a twin, casting crimson hues, but there was never darkness. The sun sets before her eyes, yet its glowing light remains. The moon rises, but bathes in eternal sunshine. The landscape changes sporadically. Sometimes she's on top of a mountain or plateau, floating in an ocean or bathing in a desert. It never mattered to her what form it took, because it made her happy. Every time she finds the opportunity to enter the door that leads to her little piece of heaven, she t
Lovely Milluki awoke with a tremendous headache. She slowly opened her eyes and gave it time to adjust from the blinding light emanating from the window. She was still disoriented from her fall so she failed to notice where she was, it took about five minutes before the young woman frowned and realization set in. The bed is not her own nor are the sheets, and she for sure does not have white tiles on her floor. In her moment of bewilderment the door opened and in came a woman in a nurse's uniform. She is carrying a metal tray that has a glass of water and medicine. "Your finally awake" the nurse said in a sweet and caring tone.Lovely smiled back and rubbed her temple. "What happened to me" she asked, since she can't seem to remember why she's in a hospital. The nurse regarded her with a questioning look. "Well you were found unconscious in the forest near the Calderon, someone saw you and brought you in. I'm not sure
Lovely remained motionless on her bed, staring quizzically at Carry who insisted on staying when her mother and Angus left. Why she even bothered to stay is a mystery to her. She never like Carry, hell, no one truly liked Carry due to her annoyingly laud mouth and frank personality. It's as if the girl doesn't know when to shut up and take a hint in any circumstance she may find herself into.Even Gen, who was a patient person found it exhausting to be around her."What do you want" lovely finally asked annoyed by how the woman stood in front of her with a smug look plastered on her face.Carry remained silent though and just kept staring at her.Irritated lovely picked up a piece of the apple her mother left on her bedside table and threw it at her.Carry managed to dock but lost her footing resulting to her falling on the floor paining her bum.
The cabin has always been dull. The absence of color is something she longed to change but everything remained grey. The walls, the ceiling, the furniture, the sheets. When did it first brought her here? She can't remember.Who she is, she can't remember. All memories, emotions and longing has blurred as time went by, but the need to escape remained.Escape to where she remains unsure, but she has to. She knows she doesn't belong here. Not in this colorless world. Deep inside her, remains a need that can't be subdued.Daunting silence has been her constant companion, except for the occasional crash of the vile smelling sea.The only window of the cabin faced an endless pool of carcass. A sight which terrorized her every waking moment. Animals floating like soap bubbles, clashing with each other. Sinking one another."Release me" she whispered in the wind, but the wind betrayed her.
It was dark when Esther came to, she rose but a sudden burst of nausea engulfed her core accompanied by a pounding headache which forced her to slump back on the bed. She lay motionless, willing the uncomfortable feelings away, but as the seconds ticked by, the pain only worsened. Her immediate resolve wasto shout but when she tried, her voice came as a whimper. Only then did she feel the dryness of her throat. She began to trash violently, and that's when the door swung open, allowing light to enter her room. Dr. Mori appeared before her, dressed in his usual white doctor's robe. "How are you feeling Esther" he asked in his monotone voice. Esther all but glared at him. TheDoctor shook his head and motioned for her to sit up. But Esther, knowing she would fail shifted her face to her right and buried it on the soft pillow. After what felt like an eternity a nurse suddenly appeared beside her bed handing a glass
It's angry, she can feel the ominous aura surrounding their colorless cabin. She stood in the middle of their living room shaking from head to foot, her heart pounded relentlessly, she could almost see it taking shape over her grey dress. The colorless sofa which is the only furniture inside their living room suddenly burst into flame.A desperate cry escaped from her mouth as the apparition materializedin front of her. She can hear its heavy breathing. Every intake of breath ittook made her take a step back. The fear it imposed upon her bloomed wildly, licking every corner of her being. She began to cry, but the tears that fell from her eyes weirdly felt hotter than usual, and as more dropped from her viridian globes, the hotter it got. It began to scald her cheeks, it started to sting. She tried to stop crying, but to her surprise, her tears kept falling, and they are now searing hot. She screamed in pain. The apparition before her only stood
