Blowing open the trash bag, I watched as Lisa’s eyes beamed with so much happiness and even though there was an underlying disgust, I was sure that she felt happy.
She had probably been waiting for a chance to humiliate me like this and now that she has gotten it, a hint of satisfaction flashed in her eyes. “Poor, useless bastards like you have no right using a branded suitcase.” She sneered as she wrapped her arms around her chest but I didn’t say anything. My teeth gritted, the humiliation was clawing at me like talons, reminding me time and time again that all these while, I was nothing to the Nelson family. I was only a tool for them to let out all of their frustrations on and as much as it hurts deep in my heart, I endured it all since I was going to be leaving very soon. The sound of an approaching footsteps caused me to lift up my head and that was when I saw that Jenna had walked into my room. Shoving all of my pain aside, I let out a cynical smile as I shook my head and the thought of what Simon had said before I left the room rang in my head. Not wanting to let it hurt me anymore, I thought that I was going to have some fun with her and although she doesn’t have a look of satisfaction, I couldn’t help but let out. “Is Simon really that fast?” I asked, teasing her and there was a trace of mockery in my voice that did not only anger Jenna but it also embarrassed her. Her throat bobbed as she forced herself to swallow the saliva that had probably formed in her mouth and her cheeks turned really red. Her eyes blazed with fiery anger and my tone seemed to be infuriating to her. I watched as she colored fiercely, her face flushed and with a renewed embarrassment, she looked away from me. “You really are a very lewd person, get your mind out of the fucking gutter,” she sneered at me, her teeth gritting against each other as her fist clenched. I shrugged and felt a deep satisfaction within me when she stiffened under my gaze, I could tell that she felt momentarily abashed and I smiled again. “I didn’t do anything with Simon,” she was quick to continue defending herself and her breath quickened as her cheeks got even redder. “I only took a shower because—” her voice trailed off when she realized that her mother was still in the room with us and I couldn’t help it as my lips curved into a sad smile. I knew what she was going to say and she didn’t have to complete her statement for me to know that she was trying to say that she took a shower because she had sex with me last night. She didn’t want any evidence of the sex she had with me on her body and just being in the same room with me is so irritating to her that I know she still can’t bear the thought of us having sex. It might have been a one night thing but that one night, last night, was going to remain fixed in my mind forever. The sound of Lisa growling jolted me out of my thoughts, her lips curled disgustingly and her eyes bore holes into every pore of my body. She was impatient, restless and it was clear that she couldn’t wait to get rid of me as she waited for me to pack my clothes. “Get your filthy self out of this house as soon as possible,” she snarled and even though I was used to words like this, they still cut deep. “Simon can’t wait to be the new host of Nelson's villa so pack your trash and leave!” She barked and with an indifferent smile, I took the bag and left. Jenna didn’t say anything and she even did everything in her power to avoid eye contact with me even as her mother’s words were laced with malice, Jenna remained quiet. Taking in a deep breath, I made my way out of the villa, each step was agonizing because I felt as if I was leaving a piece of me behind but I didn’t look back. Getting out of the Nelson’s villa is a huge step, one that’s mandatory for me to take because there’s no more place for me in the mansion. Flagging down a taxi, I boarded it and my mind was conflicted as I told the taxi that I was going to the hospital. I needed to see Mrs. Winkle but when I got to the hospital and went to Mrs Winkle’s ward, she was no longer there. The ward was empty and I felt my heart race in my chest, panic like never before welled up in my throat and I felt fear running down my spine. Where is she?! Rushing into the ward Mrs Winkle was supposed to be in, I checked in the bathroom but she wasn’t there too and sheer black fright swept through me. “Oh, it’s just you,” one of the nurses who saw me hissed disgustingly, a hint of mockery in her voice as she spoke and my face fell. “I don’t even know what you’re doing here and if Mrs Winkle died then it'd be because of you,” she continued. “Because you’re so useless you can’t even afford the monthly fees, why did you bring her here when you know you’ll keep delaying payments?” She continued mocking. My chest tightened and fear settled in my stomach as different terrifying thoughts ran through my mind but I remained calm. “Where is she?” I asked, my throat feeling dry as different scary images formed in my head and instead of a response, all I got was a mocking laughter. “Who knows?” She sneered, “maybe she got kicked out because you owe too much money.” She added, her words were like a hurtful blow to my head. Anger washed through me and as my teeth gritted, my fist clenched and I felt anger thrummed through my veins. “W—” “YOU’RE FIRED!” A cold, loud voice said behind me and my words got stuck in my throat as I turned to look at the person who had said that. The nurse’s face immediately turned pale with shock when the man came into view. He was wearing a lab coat that made me identify him as a doctor. “I apologize for her behavior,” the man said to me in a gentle tone and his lips soon curved into a smile that made me wonder why he’s being nice to me. “Mrs. Winkle is now in the VIP ward.”What? Miss Winkle is in the VIP room? How did she get there?I was too startled by what the doctor had just said to say anything. I knew that I couldn’t have possibly been able to afford a VIP wardroom.“I’m sorry, Sir, I had no idea Mrs Winkle was in the VIP room,” the sound of the nurse crying jolted me out of the thoughts I was lost in.Tears were streaming down her cheeks and she fell to her knees in front of the doctor who had just fired her. She genuinely looked like she regretted all the things she said to me.I felt pity for her but she hadn’t just humiliated me today, she does that everytime I come to the hospital, she takes the chance because I’m poor and she says horrible things to me.“I’ve been on my day off for the past three days and didn’t know when Mrs Winkle was moved.” The nurse cried ceaselessly as she quickly turned to face me when the man ignored her.Her lips formed a thin line, her eyes were red and more tears streamed down her cheeks and even though she tried
“Wh— What? What’s going on? I’m not—”“It’s an honor to finally meet you, young master.” The old man interrupted before I could finish talking. He bowed in front of me and I couldn’t help but feel like I’d been thrown into a world of dreams. All my life, I’ve never had someone bow to me before.Even back in Jenna’s house, the maids and servants never respected. They spoke to me like I was nothing but a trash bag, they treated me even worse.Seeing this gentleman bow in front of me made me both shocked, confused and utterly uncomfortable.“Who are you and please don’t bow to me.” I quickly said, the words rushing out of my mouth as if I had something incredibly hot burning my mouth.“I have to bow to you, young master, you’re my master,” the man said politely as he finally raised his head and placed his hand on his chest.“My name is Alfred Weston, I'm a butler of the Cavendish family and your sister has put me in charge of looking after Mrs. Winkle here.” He explained. There they go a
“W— We’re not riding in this, are we?” I asked, my surprise and awe obvious in my voice as I looked at the huge helicopter but Alfred only laughed. It felt like a dream, I still couldn’t believe that I was in front of a live, working helicopter, one that could actually fly.It was different from the kinds I saw in movies, anime or books. It was really huge and the rotor blades were as if they were ready to blow Alfred and I away.“Of course, that’s what we’re riding in, young master.” Alfred said and my jaw dropped as I tried to take a step closer but I couldn’t.Maybe it’s my fear or it’s probably because I never saw myself using this kind of helicopter as a mode of transportation. It screamed luxury and I still couldn’t believe it.“Let’s go, the lady doesn’t really like waiting but I’m sure she loves you enough to let go of anything.” Alfred smiled and I turned to face him with a raised eyebrow.“The lady?” I asked, confused because I thought we were going to see my sister and I ex
The butler soon came inside the living room to join me and when he clapped his hands, lots of maids came outside and my jaw dropped.“Welcome, Young Master Zade.” They all said in unison as they bowed in front of me. My heart thumped, I had no idea what to do with so much fame. These people are bowing to me, showing me so much respect than I’m usually used to and it’s all happening so fast that I was starting to feel dizzy.“They’ll show you to your room and make sure that you’re settling in well.” Alfred said and before I could say anything, one of the maids was already inviting me.Two of the maids led me up the stairs and there I realized that there was another sitting room but it was a more private one and was only used by the family. There was also a private swimming pool and a private lounge that none of the maids are allowed to enter and soon, I was led to a really big room.It was the biggest bedroom of all the bedrooms that the maids had shown me, it had a king size bed and i
I watched as the woman smiled flatteringly at Simon, her lips parted and her set of teeth revealing as she stood up and the rest followed suit.“What’s going on?” Simon asked, his confusion obvious in his voice as he looked around with a nervous smile but the woman only smiled even more.“You don’t have to be so humble,” she said amidst humble laughter but I knew really well that Simon wasn’t being humble, he genuinely doesn’t know what’s going on.I don’t know what’s going on too but I wanted to know, I wanted to stick around to see why the woman gave Simon a better treatment.“I really don’t know what’s going on, Daphne,” Simon chuckled as he walked past me with a glare and the woman only sneered, “please, hint me.” He added and the woman nodded.“Sure, I will,” the woman, Daphne, responded. She looked happy and excited to tell Simon the news and even I was curious, I wanted to know why too.“Mrs Georgina had hinted to us yesterday that a new CEO will be appointed. I was expecting a
His words stung, they hurt like every other insulting word anyone had ever said to me but I couldn’t possibly let him get to me, I knew better. “Why did you hit me? I didn’t do anything to you, so why—” “And what are you going to do?!” He cut in before I could finish talking, “I’m going to be the CEO of the company you’re going to be a cleaner at and you think you can talk back to me?!” He sneered. My fist clenched and my teeth gritted as anger stirred inside of me but I wanted to do everything I could to avoid this situation, I wanted to remain calm until all of my doubts were cleared. Everyone on the floor laughed at my misfortune while Simon took sheer satisfaction in seeing people laugh at me. My throat bobbed as I swallowed and I turned to leave. “Where do you think you’re going?!” Simon’s voice thundered as he pulled me back with my T-shirt until my feet faltered and I staggered, making me fall to the ground. “Do you think you can leave while I talk, you useless son o
“WHAT?!” The sound of everyone’s utter shock filled the air and I could feel the ground shaking as it felt as though there was a rumble on the 99th floor.“What is she talking about?!”“That wretched man is her brother?”“Has to be a lie because there’s no way.”“He’s not even fit to be a Cavendish, he doesn’t look like one either.”Everyone wasted no time in letting other people know what they were all thinking and although their words cut deep, I felt a sense of odd satisfaction course through me when Georgina slapped Simon.“WHO GAVE YOU THE RIGHT?!” She yelled, her eyes had gotten so red that it was obvious that getting close to the Cavendish’s first daughter would be a mistake for anyone.I couldn’t help the smile that crept up my lips when I looked at her, I have never had someone stand up for me like this.Is this what it feels like to have a family?A warm glow filled my stomach and I could feel my eyes stinging with tears that I would never let fall as I remained composed.“Y
“What?” Simon said, his voice barely loud that I was only able to hear him because I’d trained my ears to pick up sounds that were far away. His eyes grew wide with shock and her statement left him so dumbfounded that he couldn’t wrap his head around what she’d just said. How is he going to walk around with that arrogant look of his after being warned to steer clear of the Cavendish’s family properties?I couldn’t possibly know how he felt because I’ve never had enough to be cut out of something but I could tell from his look that it hurts. What Georgina had said seemed to have hit him like a ton of bricks, leaving him speechless and making him unable to stand properly as he staggered.“Georgina, Sister, You—”“Don’t touch me!” Georgina gritted when Simon reached his hand out to touch her and he jumped at the suddenness and sternness of her voice. The air was cold and choking and it didn’t help that the floor was as silent as a graveyard. The people that were happily laughing when Sim
