Chapter 386

The sound of a scream suddenly interrupted Maurice's depressing thoughts.

Maurice furrowed his brows, his confusion palpable.

“What's that sound?” He wondered, peeping in the direction of Ian's room.

A part of him wanted to go and see what the noise had been about but he shook his head instead, recalling his own reaction when he saw his father's lifeless body.

The image still haunted him every time he closed his eyes.

He had left his father's room as quickly as his feeble legs could carry him, having endured several days with little to no food.

It still felt like a terrible nightmare to him, one that he desperately wished he would wake up from.

He suppressed the feeling of going into his father's room as seeing his father's lifeless was only going to cause him more pain.
