Ramon blinked, momentarily disoriented by the unexpected encounter. The young man before him had a calm, confident demeanor, with sharp eyes that seemed to take in everything at once. And his hair was stylishly brushed to the back. The fragrance coming from him was pleasing to Ramon's nostrils.

"Uh, yeah," Ramon replied, trying to mask his relief. "I’m looking for the admissions office. This place is like a maze."

The young man chuckled. "It does take some getting used to. I’m Mark, by the way. I’m a senior here."

"Ramon," he introduced himself, shaking Mark’s hand.

"Nice to meet you, Ramon. Follow me; I’ll take you to the admissions office."

As they walked through the campus, Mark pointed out various landmarks and buildings. Ramon tried to memorize the layout, but his mind was racing with thoughts about the day ahead.

"So, what are you planning to study?" Mark asked as they walked.

"Physics," Ramon replied. "I’ve always been fascinated by how the universe works."

Mark nodded approvingly. "That’s a great field. I’m in computer science myself. We might even share some classes if you dive into computational physics." Ramon smiled trying to converse with Mark but his mind was elsewhere. He is more concerned about getting ready for his academics and making a name for himself on the university ground.

They arrived at the admissions office, a sleek building with glass walls. Mark held the door open for Ramon. "Here we are. Good luck with the paperwork. If you need anything, feel free to look me up."

"Thanks, Mark. I appreciate it," Ramon said sincerely.

Inside, the office was bustling with activity. Ramon approached the front desk, where a friendly-looking receptionist greeted him.

"Hello, how can I help you today?" she asked.

"Hi, I’m Ramon. I’m here to finalize my admission. I received a scholarship."

"Of course, Ramon. We’ve been expecting you. Please fill out these forms, and once you're done, I’ll take you through the next steps."

Ramon took the forms and sat down in a quiet corner. As he filled in his details, academic history, and emergency contacts, he couldn’t help but feel a mixture of excitement and nervousness. This was the opportunity he had been waiting for, and he was determined not to let it slip away.

After completing the forms, he returned them to the receptionist. She reviewed them quickly and then led him to a small office where an admissions counselor was waiting.

"Mr. Ramon, welcome to Kingsland University. I’m Mrs. Thompson, your admissions counselor. We’re thrilled to have you here," she said, extending her hand.

"Thank you, Mrs. Thompson. I’m excited to be here," Ramon replied, shaking her hand.

"Let’s go over a few things," she said, motioning for him to sit down. "First, congratulations on earning the scholarship. Your academic record and personal story impressed the committee."

"Thank you. I’m grateful for the opportunity," Ramon said.

Mrs. Thompson smiled warmly. "We believe in supporting students who show promise and resilience. Now, let’s discuss your course schedule and any other questions you might have."

They spent the next hour reviewing his classes, discussing campus resources, and addressing any concerns Ramon had. Mrs. Thompson was thorough and supportive, which eased Ramon’s nerves.

"Everything looks in order," she concluded. "You’ll need to attend a mandatory orientation session tomorrow, which will help you get acquainted with the campus and meet other new students. Do you have any questions before we wrap up?"

"Just one. How do I get a student ID card?" Ramon asked.

"Good question. The ID office is just down the hall. You can get your photo taken there today," Mrs. Thompson replied.

Ramon thanked her and headed to the ID office. After a short wait, he had his photo taken and received his new student ID card, which he examined with a sense of pride.

With his administrative tasks completed, Ramon decided to explore the campus more thoroughly. He wanted to find his classrooms and get a feel for the place.

As he wandered around, he couldn’t help but notice the stark contrast between himself and many of the other students. Their expensive clothes and gadgets made him feel out of place, but he reminded himself that he was here for his education, not to compete in a fashion show.

While walking past the cafeteria, he spotted Mark sitting at a table, engrossed in a book. Ramon hesitated for a moment, then approached him.

"Hey, Mark," he said.

Mark looked up and smiled. "Ramon, how’d it go?"

"All set. I got my schedule and ID card. Just trying to find my way around now."

"Great to hear! Want to join me for lunch?" Mark offered, gesturing to the empty seat across from him.

"Sure, thanks," Ramon replied, grateful for the company.

As they ate, they talked about their interests and experiences. Mark shared stories about his time at Kingsland, offering advice on which professors were the best and which classes to avoid.

"By the way," Mark said between bites of his sandwich, "there’s a student organization fair tomorrow after orientation. It’s a good way to get involved and meet people. You should check it out."

"Sounds like a good idea," Ramon agreed.

After lunch, they parted ways, and Ramon continued exploring the campus. He found the library, a sprawling building with endless rows of books and quiet study areas. He could already see himself spending countless hours there.

The next morning, Ramon attended the orientation session. The auditorium was packed with new students, all looking as anxious and excited as he felt. The speakers provided valuable information about campus life, academic expectations, and available resources. Ramon took notes diligently, determined to make the most of his time at Kingsland.

Following the orientation, he headed to the student organization fair. The campus quad was filled with booths representing various clubs and societies. There were groups for everything from robotics and chess to environmental activism and cultural associations.

As he wandered through the fair, Ramon felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned to see the young cashier from the store, smiling at him.

"Hey, I remember you. You’re the new guy in town, right?" she said.

"Yeah, that’s me. Ramon," he replied, returning her smile.

"I’m Sarah. I saw you at the store the other day. How are you settling in?" she asked.

"Pretty well, thanks. Just trying to find my way around," Ramon said.

"Well, if you need any help, let me know. I’m in the environmental club, by the way. You should check us out," Sarah suggested, handing him a flyer.

"I will. Thanks, Sarah," Ramon said, appreciating her friendliness.

As the day went on, Ramon signed up for a few clubs that caught his interest, including the physics club and a volunteer group. He knew that getting involved in campus activities would not only help him make friends but also enrich his university experience.

Over the next few weeks, Ramon settled into a routine. His classes were challenging but stimulating, and he enjoyed the intellectual environment of Kingsland.

He spent long hours studying in the library, determined to excel in his coursework. His professors were demanding but supportive, pushing him to think critically and deepen his understanding of the material.

Outside of class, Ramon found himself forming friendships with fellow students who shared his interests.

He became close with a few members of the physics club, where they often discussed complex theories and worked on projects together. Mark remained a constant presence, always ready to offer advice or a listening ear.

One evening, after a particularly intense study session, Ramon decided to take a walk around the campus to clear his mind. As he strolled through the quad, he noticed Xavier, the guy who had tried to intimidate him at the store, sitting alone on a bench.

He looked up and saw a bunch of students coming towards Xavier. Ramon his behind the pillars and was curious to see what was going to happen.

They greeted each other while Xavier walked with them towards the University hall. "Don't tell me you have already taken a liking for the hottest guy on campus?" Ramon heard a voice behind him and looked back. "Who? Me?" Ramon asked surprised at what Mark was saying.

Xavier was indeed handsome and many ladies would want to have a chance with him but Ramon wasn't fazed. "Why would I want to be a friend with someone like him?"

"Because being a friend with someone like Xavier means your future is set. Do you know who he is?" Mark asked walking side by side with Ramon. "Does it matter?" Ramon replied.

"Tell me, why are you here in the first place?"Mark stood abruptly and looked at Ramon

"To study. "Ramon replied innocently.

"I see, have you taken your time to look around you? " Mark pressed further.

Ramon nodded with his gaze fixed on Mark. "Here is a school where there is discrimination. We have the kings, chiefs, and the citizens. Xavier belongs to the king's category. They can do whatever they want on the university campus and get away with it. Not only him but some of the kids with rich parents too. The chiefs are mainly under the kings and they are checked by the kings. The citizens, I can say much. Which category do you belong to? "Mark asked looking at Ramon. Ramon smiled "I don't have to be obsessed with the hierarchy here. I just want to study and graduate with flying colors." He replied and walked away. Mark looked at him and smiled, "I love his spirit." He walked away as he looked at Ramon. The day spun fast and Ramon was on his way home when he was almost hit by a luxurious car. Fuming, Ramon looked at the driver's seat and watched as the lady got down from the car. "Can you look where you are going?!" Ramon felt he was offended "Look where you are going? You
