30th August, late at night, highschool student Lim Nasung was returning from cram school. He lived in the Dujon District, his apartment was small and one of many in a big complex.
As usual, he bought dinner from the nearby convenience store and returned home. Alas, his uneventful evening was interrupted. Right after he climbed the long and creaky staircase and was making his way toward apartment number 102, he was attacked.
The assailant appeared from nowhere and not even Lim Nasung’s quick reaction helped him fend off the attacker. He was instantly knocked onto the ground and overpowered, his hand bent behind his back and his head pressed down.
The poor student could not even see who attacked him, he kept resisting but the force exerted by the unknown assailant was simply monstrous.<
A couple of hours before Leiu attacked Realman.**“Y-you’re threatening me?”Elena did not expect Leiu to actually say those words. She had thought they had become friends but the look he was giving him was definitely not fake. His eyes were coldly locked onto her and his hostility could be felt.“You two are longtime friends. I see no reason why you wouldn’t help him.”“I told you already! I really didn’t know he’ll attack you!”“Attack me? He just tried to kill me. And I’m certain he’s not acting alone… whoever is behind him
Unbeknownst to Leiu, Realman was able to send a message to his superior. Although it was just a bunch of random words, his boss ought to understand the situation and hopefully send help. Both of his burner phones have a GPS tracker on them and this construction site seemed to be an appropriate place. Now his life depended on how much time the other assassins would take to come here, because, clearly, Leiu wasn’t going to wait for long. After bypassing the guards’ notice, Leiu and his captive took the half-finished big construction site and took the stairs all the way to the 21th floor, which was as desolate as the rest of them.“It’s a shame.”Leiu pushed the student against one of the cement pillars then looked down. He didn’t have a fear
Things had escalated pretty quickly; From a normal fight against the assassins to a struggle against a literal military helicopter equipped with dangerous weapons.Although Leiu still considered the masked woman and the man as enemies, he still had to rely on them to take down the helicopter, after all, he doesn’t have many long-ranged weapons. Nevertheless, he remains alert in case he’s backstabbed by them, especially the woman.[Dark Dominance] managed to hit the helicopter but it did close to no damage, surprisingly. The three dark arcs clashed with a translucent blue barrier then dispersed into nothingness. The machine guns kept raining down bullets on the half-finished building, aimed at Leiu and the masked woman.
After the brief meeting with the mist-user, Leiu, though with difficulty due to the pain, jumped from one mass of rubble to the other. The police sirens were getting closer and there were already dozens of citizens standing on the perimeter outside of the construction site, which had turned into utter chaos.Leiu even suspected that the two security guards had died due to what happened. Although it wasn’t his fault, he will surely be blamed for this. When he finally passed all the rubble, cement, and broken boulders, he was surprised to actually see the two unknown assassins that started all of this mess. The man from before, the one who was attacked quite a few times and almost died, seemed to be much better. He was pressing his hand against his waist and continuously drinking drople
“First, let us see what lies behind that ugly mask.”Leiu unceremoniously pulled the mask from the face of the struggling woman. She was bound by the thick ropes and no matter how much she tried, she couldn’t free herself. However, she didn’t attempt any unnecessary begging or pointless bargaining. She was captured by the enemy and, as an assassin, such a fate is not only shameful but also insulting. While she was sure that she wouldn't spill any truths about the brotherhood, the woman was still anxious about the methods that Leiu would use. After all, if magic is involved, there very well may be an elixir or some sort of spell that would force her to be honest.“Oh? Oooh…”Leiu cr
“What’s the meaning of this?”Femy glared at the squadron facing her, seemingly unafraid and unfazed by their unsheathed weapons and visible hostility. She was holding the pardon high in the air but the sergeant turned a blind an eye to that and was pointing at Fairti Gicolt.“I am aware of the special pardon granted to the Nameless Knight. However, Fairti Gicolt, son of Silver Gicolt, was charged with Treason and espionage and thereby must be taken to the capital to be tried and punished.”“Espionage and treason? You’re nuts! I’ve never involved myself in politics.”Fairti scoffed at the sergeant, his expression ugly and his eyebrows raised. In such situations,
“You know, Leiu, life is full of surprises… good and bad ones. There may come a time when you’ll stand at a crossroad.”In the inn room, the day before they had started their journey, Fairti, who looked unusually serious, broke the long silence and uttered those words. He meaningfully stared at the Dark Knight.“What’s up with you?”“I’m just giving you a warning, as a friend.”“A warning?”Fairti Gicolt let out a long sigh, leaned against the big cushion and momentarily closed his eyes.“I admit that I’m a coward,
Bran Terrest, the Golden Knight that used to protect Carla Skelgan, was inexplicably hostile to Leiu. Nevertheless, he helped him go through the gate and guided him to the commercial district.“You’re going to meet with nobles. You should act accordingly and be respectful.”“I did not agree to meet nobles.”Retorted Leiu, giving the knight a look as nasty as the ones he was getting. It did not matter if Bran didn’t like him, after all, he was no longer a weakling. Although the Golden Knight became considerably stronger, Leiu was sure that he could defeat him if a fight were to break out between them. When he had first met Bran Terrest, the latter was Lv90, but now he was Lv1
