“Let’s talk about the factions, mister Nameless Knight. You will need a thorough understanding of how the Empire works and whose side are you on.”
“If I’m going to help then am I not on you people’s side? The Anti-royal factions or whatever it’s called?”
Zeno let out a soft laugh and leaned against the chair, crossing his legs and taking out a finger-sized square-shaped golden badge with an unfamiliar symbol on it.
“From a stranger’s perspective, this badge is meant as a decoration, but, as you might have already assumed, it’s not. It’s meant to distinguish allies from enemies. Those belonging to the Anti-Royal Faction
“King Ebrador Noules the 5th has married a total of three women. One is the Queen, Annabella Temrez Uran Xantotan, hailing from the fallen Ferywonian Kingdom. The other two are concubines and they have limited political power… basically, they rely on luck and hope all their children are boys and blessed with a magical talent on top of prodigious intellect, which, of course, would allow them to aim for the throne. The first concubine is Teresa Of BlackBridge, and the second is Gloria Solod Evermore, also of Ferywonia. I do hope this is not too much to take for you because you’ll need a thorough understanding of the Royal and Political System to know how to act in case of an unanticipated complication.” Leiu pricked his ears and carefully listened to the counselor. He still hasn’t agreed to wholly help them, however, that didn’t stop him from being intrigued in this rotten human kingdom, whic
Leiu did not immediately accept or refuse the Grand Quest. He weighed his choices and thoroughly and carefully thought about the whole situation. His ultimate goal in coming to the capital was to save his friend, Fairti Gicolt, and though Zeno offered to let them go safely, his words aren’t to be trusted. Leiu had every right to be skeptical and mistrustful, especially toward a scheming person such as Zeno Ver Kantika. Even if there’s a sliver of a chance that his words are true, Leiu decided to act on his own accord and give this a go, not because he was convinced but because he was tired of getting attacked by random players and Bounty Hunters. He still has [Re; Hell Gate], which has been refilled recently, meaning that he has two lives to spare, though in this situation, only once suffice. If ends up betrayed or ki
“There is indeed.” Confirmed the counselor, looking more and more eager to voice his thoughts. He signaled for his assistant, Xavier, to leave, before he opened his mouth again. As for Leiu, he was silently watching Zeno, wondering why he’s being so careful and secretive.“I have investigated your whereabouts for the past couple of months. Every place you visited and every person you met, I know of them all… except for one particular individual.”“...”-Leiu“The idea of recruiting you to our ranks wasn’t on a mere whim or just because of your impressive prowess. I do admit that such qualities had positively impacted me, but they were not the only rea
“Oh? Ooooh! Now this is much better! My thanks, fellow patriots!”Fairti heartily laughed as he saw the expensive furniture dragged into his new cell. Although he was still imprisoned in the dungeons, he was relocated to a much bigger cell… a very comfortable one, especially after the addition of the furniture and the soft carpet which covered the cold and hard floor.Shortly after Leiu’s meeting with Zeno and the others, someone had come to inform Fairti and explain to him what would happen. The dandy youth was no fool, thus it could give him no time to piece things together and understand that by staying here, he will help Leiu and ensure his own safety. Furthermore, with the dramatic change of his cell, it wasn’t so bad anymore. Sure, he can’t enjoy the warm sun rays or tour the capital, but he
The young woman, Seo Ae-Ri, hissed at the youth and struggled even fiercer but to no avail, as usual. She could only sit on the chair and try to intimidate him with her deadly glare, but instead of frightening him, it seemed to amuse him.“Don’t claim to be fearless in front of me. There’s no one who’s not afraid of death.”“I will kill you. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow… but I will.”She gritted her teeth and kept looking at him the same way, however, he ignored her and sat on a chair across from her. After scanning today’s feast, he picked a plate and indulged himself in the delicious treats freely offered by the manor. This perk, along with the hi
“It’s too late for regrets.”Leiu coldly looked down at the bound woman, his face totally expressionless. After a tense and momentary silence, he took out his greatsword from the Inventory, grasped it with both hands and unhesitantly swung it at Seo Ae-Ri, who glared back at him, looking unfazed.Looking at his behavior, it was crystal clear that he won’t spare her so there was no use to beg or try to trick him. It was her fault that she was captured and fate decreed that today she shall be murdered by the Dark Knight. The massive greatsword was swung at the assassin, accurately aimed at her exposed neck. However, much to Leiu’s surprise, the blade was stopped inches away from Seo Ae-Ri. The same rope that bound her was now around the blade, sto
Leiu must have followed the workers for no less than one hour before the expected happened. As he lurked in the darkness, unseen by everyone, his focused eyes spotted a black-clothed silhouette jumping from one roof to the other. The assassin was also following the shipment and looking around. He was wary and did not launch an assault before he had made sure that no guards were present. Unfortunately for him, he was incapable of sensing the Dark Knight’s presence.Maybe it was a secret buff of his unique Dark Knight class or the assassin was simply inexperienced, either way, it worked in Leiu’s favor. He hid amidst the narrow and nauseating alleyways and slightly lagged behind, changing his target from the workers to the jumping assassin.A couple of minutes pass
There were a staggering amount of Market Place boards all over the Imperial capital, which greatly facilitated things for Leiu. Most players, or even ‘NPCs’, would loiter around the central plaza or the bustling areas, so there were a decent amount of areas which were usually deserted, more or less. After taking care of the assassin, Leiu quickly found one of the wooden boards. There were only a handful of passerby and none bothered to glance at the suspicious hooded Dark Knight. The first thing to replace in Leiu’s list was Hook'n Look, the secondary weapon he looted from the abandoned school back on Earth. It had helped him a lot during his travels, however, it was high-time for a better and more efficient replacement. The chained hook, albeit effective and fas
