Unlike his friend Fairti or Selphie and her guardian, Leiu had nothing particular to do in this village, ironically named ‘Happy Village’.
To begin with, the settlement wasn’t big, nor was it welcoming or filled with enjoyable places. Barring the restricted manor, the rest was either poor stalls, a shabby market, or run-down taverns. Therefore, Leiu wasted his time aimlessly wandering the streets, paying no attention to the persistent beggars nor Seo Ae-Ri.
“I think this is one of the places not visited by players yet.”
Ferywonia is a desolate territory, filled with criminals and bandits. It's a massive region dominated by lawless acts and a handful of rewarding yet difficult to find quests. Basically, it was a place unwanted by inhabitants of this world and
Seo Ae-Ri had the assassin class, which was rare but not too uncommon. As an assassin, she not only had several stealth skills, but her Agility and Dexterity were on the high side. Unlike the Dark Knight, she was equipped with multiple movement and attack speed buffs, yet even with them, she could not catch up to him. Leiu’s highest stat was Agility, which mainly increased his movement speed, attack speed, and tenacity. As he shot toward the manor, only the accumulating dust could be seen in his wake, even his companion was unable to catch up, sadly for her. By the time Seo Ae-Ri reached the high fences surrounding the estate, she spotted the Dark Knight rampaging about. There was a small part of the fences which were flattened, thus opening a clear path toward their destination. “What a generous act, my good friend Leiu!” By the time Fairti finished his little errand and bought a bunch of books, he met up with his two companions. As always, the dandy young noble could not hold his thoughts back and whistled in surprise as he witnessed his friend distribute food to the starving and poor people. Seo Ae-Ri followed the Dark Knight but she didn’t seem too keen on lending a helping hand. “I did take you for a humanitarian.” “It’s for a quest. Now, can you shut up?” The assassin glared daggers at the blonde young man, but the latter ignored and continued on, “Such kind deeds must be praised. Here I thought you only care about fighting and killing.” “...” Leiu gave a fleeting glance at his friend before continuing this rather tedious task. Although the inhabitants of the grand and luxurious manor were ‘fake’, the place and resources found within were real and usable. Thus, Leiu stuffed the necessary stuff in his Inventory and distributed it as he went from onRe; Hell Gate Chapter 385 : Happy Village Adventure (3)
“This is the entrance to our homeland, the Yaj’na Elven Forest. I don’t know what you want from my kin, but I don’t think you’ll get what you want here.” The Sage gave a strange look at Leiu, her staff continuously thudding on the ground. She seemed to be castling a spell but nothing was happening. Selphie stood at the back and waved her hand at Leiu and co. Despite her limited interactions with them, she considered them as companions and was, at least, friendlier than her guardian. After finishing her piece, the old elven women waved the staff around, causing both her and Selphie to shoot in the way then arc South-East. “Well! At least we reached the forest!” “That still doesn’t answer anything.”Seo Ae-Ri snorted at the Study Room’s elaborate yet unsatisfactory answer. The female assassin stuck to a corner and leaned against the wall, expecting Leiu to keep asking.Although he did not admit it, Leiu was as frustrated as Seo Ae-Ri. While he was provided with a lot of new information, none of it really explained what had happened in Happy Village. Why was he targeted to complete that strange quest? And why did the System, labeled L-24, create fake copies instead of relying on real, existing people.Unfortunately, by giving answers, the only thing the Study Room had only made the mystery more perplexing.Fairti,Re; Hell Gate Chapter 387 : What Fairti Thinks
“I have to admit, this place feels much better than Ferywonia. At least the sky is clear and there is some flora for a change.”After a good night’s rest and filling their stomachs, the three travelers teleported back to the Yaj’na Elven Forest. Of course, they were still right at the border, where Selphie and the Sage had left them.Nevertheless, they were feeling refreshed and ready to continue their long trip.It wasn’t Fairti who was in a good mood, even the grumpy and stoic Leiu seemed slightly more energetic. As for Seo Ae-Ri, their most recent companion, she was looking all around her, fascinated by the forest. As a sacred ground for the Elve
“Elves can do that?”“Well, yes, they certainly can.”Fairti smugly smiled at Leiu’s dumbfounded face and before he continued, he grabbed another bottle of wine. Once he had fill… and notice his friend’s impatient eyes, which demanded answers, he resumed,“In case you don’t know, not all Races are- how to say it- born? Some are created. Being of pure magical power, like the 72 Demons of Hell. Elves are half and half, they had an ancestor but they progressively split into myriad different types of Elves. A handful of them originated from plants and others Mana or pure elemental energies. Silver Elves belonged to the latter and they had the heavenly ability to create or alter things but only if they had something of equal
“It’s boring to travel in total silence.”Fairti has had enough of waving the simple sword Leiu had given him. The forest was filled to the brim with overgrown plants that barred their way, and since he wanted to take the lead, he had to constantly cut the thin yet tangled obstacles.Leiu chose not to remark on his friend’s words, same as Seo Ae-Ri. Unexpectedly, however, the noble turned to look at her and asked,“So, which life do you prefer? Lurking in the dark and killing people or exploring virgin lands and uncovering mysteries?”“Shut up.”“Hah!” “So, in return for abandoning the Grieving Woods Lady, you’ll pay us triple the predicted loot, yes?”After the tension was calmed down, the party of the three women and the Black Dragon Guild relocated to a quieter and more secluded place to negotiate the terms.Whether it was Hye Nari, Estelle, or Ayeon, they all had an outrageous amount of money, either fairly earned or from their families. And since the Gold-exchange Market has been opened, people can buy Gold using real life money and vice-versa.For a small but capable guild like Mary’s, what they needed most was resources rather than loot. They were all well-geared and the purpose for today’s hunt was purely monetary.
