In a small but exquisitely decorated hall, filled with golden pillars and snow-white marble ground, a tall but frail-looking elderly man with a long gray beard and wrinkled skin was trying to stand straight as he held onto a disproportionately large thin staff.
This old man was the Pope of the Holy Church, a highly-influential individual who wields tangible and intangible power.
No one would question his decision nor oppose him, and with how fast the power of the Holy Church was spreading, his authority only continued to rise.
“You should have waited, Edward.”
The Pope looked at the kneeling man in a simple white robe. He was a Cardinal, someone second only to the Pope himself.

The bones found buried deep beneath an erupted volcano in the Western Continent does not resemble that of humans but that of long extinct beasts and h
“What’s that? Is that what you’re using to track her?”Leiu, who was walking next to Erka’nay, glanced at a small cubic artifact in her hand. It was pulsating with light, and, with each passing day, the radiance was getting brighter.“Your only job is to find her and bring her back.” Spat back the silver-haired elf as she kept looking at the artifact.“What if she refuses to come? Have you ever considered that?”“...”The Vice-captain looked at the Dark Knight and frowned,“What she wants is irrelevant. She must return, whether she likes it
“You will have to kill the Sage if we’re to get Selphie.”Erka’nay applied ointment on her wounds as she spoke with a cold and strict tone.Leiu gave her a look of mockery and did not deign to answer.“Did you hear me?”“I do not work for you.”“You have to honor your end of the deal, is that not the case? That Sage won’t let us take her unless you kill her.”“Maybe we can strike a bargain. Then again, I don’t know why you need the girl so I’m in no position to judge, really.” The Dark Knight, with Selphie bound and resting on his shoulder, treaded the unfamiliar land looking for the portal leading outside. Alas, the task proved extremely difficult as it was close to impossible to navigate these jungles sustained in mid-air.Without a proper guide, Leiu found himself going in circles or traveling from one floating piece of land to the other without a clear destination in mind. When night fell on this separate world, he finally stopped walking and sat down.Selphie had long since stopped struggling, she simply nestled near a tree and looked at the ground.Meanwhile, the young man stared at the starless and darkened canopy, strangely feeling tired. Not just because of the fight from earlier, but in general. He rRe; Hell Gate Chapter 413 : One of Two Paths (3)
“It’s not like I have a choice in the matter anymore.”Leiu shrugged and sat properly as he faced the elven girl. He expected to die from the beast’s attacks and revive with the use of [Re; Hell Gate]. Since that did not happen and he was rescued, there was no need to kill himself and redo everything. He would continue this path and see the outcome, and when it becomes clear that ‘siding’ with Selphie would not benefit him, he would start all over again.Unfortunately, his arms were in pain and needed more time to recover. Furthermore, he was in an unfamiliar place and possibly surrounded by hostile people.“Seriously. When you saved me that night, I thought you were a good person.”
“I advise you to close your eyes lest you get dizzy.”Fairti put his hand on Seo Ae-Ri’s shoulder and used the other to activate the Orb of Displacement, the same powerful artifact that he had used to get on the roof of the Royal Castle.Although the energy within it was all but spent, it could still perform short Spatial Displacement, which should be enough to escape the Elven Village.Despite his care-free nature, Fairti wasn’t someone who would risk his own life when there existed a safer alternative. After they had been explicitly warned to not wander off on their own, Fairti and Seo Ae-Ri returned to their temporary room and, from there, teleported to the outside. “Ahh!”Estelle Sigreen suddenly fell on the ground and clutched her head while screaming outloud. She was assaulted by an excruciating headache and though it lasted for a split second, it still made her sweat buckets and involuntarily tremble.Very much like the Dark Knight, she received the same exact ‘buff’ that regenerated her Stamina, Mana, and Health. Additionally, her stats were significantly increased and there was a torrent of notifications that informed her of how far the target was.“We’re close…” Said Estelle with a relatively low voice. She got back on her feet and scanned her surroundings but only saw lush flora and overgrown plants. They had entered the Yajℜ Hell Gate Chapter 416 : Convergence of Dark and Light (2)
Fortunately, the preparation for the ritual proceeded peacefully and without any interruptions. After Fairti readied everything and chanted a long and complicated incantation, the familiar and ominous mist of the Harrowing burst from the crudely-drawn circle on the ground. The small quantity of Nether Grass was burnt instantly, the Manticore’s heart was engulfed by the green mist, and the poured blood bubbled and spread across the entire circle.Last but not least was the Dwarven Core, which floated in the air and rapidly spun, emitting a bit of steam as the space began to distort and ghastly bone-chilling cries echoed throughout the forest.Fairti backed away while Leiu grabbed Orenmir and took the front, impatiently awaiting for the summoned c
