“To arms, soldiers!”Kahra’s battlecry reverberated across the camp, waking up those asleep and energising those who had been impatiently waiting for the next fight. The army of four thousand Kaith picked up their weapons and grouped together in an orderly manner. It was the break of dawn, but Leiu followed after them despite not getting a wink of sleep. He wanted to get matters over with and started heading North. He didn’t expect another battle to arrive so soon, but it was for the better. While talking to the scouts, Kahra beckoned him from afar.“It’s Berlin's army, general! They’re marching straight to us.”Upon hearing this, Kahra looked a bit surprised, nevertheless, she chuckled, “Heh! So they want to finish us once and for all. Berin himself is leading the charge too.”“Who’s Berin?”-Leiu“He’s one of their strongest generals. He has double our forces and they are much superior to Harold’s army… the one you’ve been in.”Leiu thought for a moment before asking, “So I’ll just h
Kahra bellowed an order to her soldiers, who shouted in response. A big chunk of them grouped together with the spear-users at the front, then they charged forward. They ripped through the soldiers and closed in on the retreating Leiu. Kahra, clad in her magical armor, took the lead. Her moves weren’t flashy, but she would blow three to four soldiers with one swing. Her style of fighting was no different than her soldiers, but her superior strength and armor allowed her to stand out and easily kill the Anurians.Meanwhile, Leiu had to deal with dozens of soldiers along with Berin. The middle-aged battlemage raised his sword before pointing it at Leiu: Lightning bolts zigzagged in the air, targeting him.Fortunately, a Shaman Kaith conjured a barrier just in time to block the projectiles.Leiu swept his greatsword at four soldiers before somersaulting to the back and following up with [Invisible Strike].Suddenly, however, he felt a stinging pain coming from his arm, precisely where t
Leiu sliced through multiple fireballs shooting his way before leaping in the air and diving straight into the soldiers surroundings Kahra. The General of the Kaith army was barely able to stand up properly. She had killed dozens upon dozens of soldiers, including one of the Captains, but her armor was starting to break. Her grasp over the greatsword was weakening and blood leaked from the corner of her lips. When she saw Leiu land close to her, she was half-confused and half-shocked.“Weren’t you going to run?”He gave her a sideways glance, “After I get you out of this mess.”Leiu had gained his freedom and no longer had to listen to Kahra. However, even if he were to run out of the battlefield right now, he would eventually be lost in these Southern Plains. There was also Berin, who could send soldiers after him. After all, it seemed that the death of that Captain had angered him a lot. Therefore, Leiu decided to help the Kaith, specifically Kahra. Her army was losing due to Berli
The Kaith lived South-East of the Continent, neighbouring only one nation: Anuria. To their North was a long mountain range that surrounded their lands like a semi-circle.At the end of the mountain range was a small and independent nation known as the Holy State of Zartia, ruled by a religious faction known as the Endopian Theology.Kahra’s suggestion was to bypass the Holy State of Zartia and head far West, to the Eclipse Kingdom that laid beyond the Dead Marshes.Put simply, there were five nations present in the South: The Kaith in the South-East, The Anuria Kingdom in the South-West, The Eclipse Kingdom North of Anurian and near the South-Western Coast, and last but not least, the Krayten Empire located North of the mountain range. The Empire was as big as Noules and had a strong military power, especially its renowned mages. It encompassed the South-Central part of the Continent and was right beneath the Sky Crystal that separated the South and North parts of the land. The Holy
I confess that you are a much better business partner than the original host of this body. I’m not particularly fond of worshippers, you see.“I will suffer your company, but not your commentary.”Inos Bek, God of Contracts from the Third Layer, let out a sigh as his illusory body vanished. Although he managed to convince Leiu not to do something drastic, such as cutting off his arm, their relationship between the two of them was still atrocious.Although, much of that was because of Leiu’s extreme mistrust and constant gloominess. Inos wasn’t used to conversing with someone like that.Their initial discussion lasted for quite a while and Inos had disclosed everything he knew about the Outer Gods and his home ‘world’.…A couple of days after officially meeting the Divine Goblin, Leiu entered the notorious Dead Marshes. The biome itself dramatically changed, the flora became overgrown, thick, and alive. There were dirty swamps everywhere, along with creepy monsters that included Trean
“Nothing. I feel like I just wasted an hour talking to myself.”Ella sighed and looked at their new ‘companion’, who had laid on the ground and fell asleep with the greatsword next to him.“If it’s not working then let’s get rid of him. He could be dangerous.”Ivan kept sneaking glances at Kahra’s blade, his eyes filled with greed.“He could be a World Boss. We should focus on our task: The Great Serpent.”-WolfgangUnsurprisingly, they had lied about the reason behind their presence in the Dead Marshes. While they were indeed a newly-formed Mercenary Group, they weren’t actually living in Sun City.In fact, it had become difficult- if not impossible- to enter largely-populated settlements. The so-called ‘NPCs’, residents of this magical world, were hostile towards the players. Their mages had developed special artifacts that could detect the System, which was something that every Player had.The only place that players congregated at was Black Mountain City, now known as Bastion. In f
Its size notwithstanding, the Hydra was surprisingly mobile. It flattened all the large trees and flora in its way, its nine-heads moving around and choosing all sorts of magical projectiles. Arrow-like projectiles made of poison, small wind-aspected tornadoes that ripped through everything in their way, bursts of purple flames, and even blasts of Holy Magic. Each head is proficient at a certain type of Magic. This is an artificial Hydra, not an authentic one. Leiu ignored the rambling of the curious Inos as he swept his greatsword upwards, blocking several projectiles and then somersaulting further back. Ella had just caught up with him and continued running away, not even daring to look back at the monstrously big pursuer. She was quite fortunate that the Hydra was dead-set on attacking Leiu and no one else. After cutting through a wave of purple flames, Leiu kicked his foot against a tree and used that as a momentum to reach one of the Hydra’s heads. [Invisible Strike] With t
“The Boss was gracious enough to wait for you!”Several armed men were in Wolfgang’s room. What little furniture decorated the place was destroyed or flipped upside down as the gang members took anything and everything that could be sold for money.Wolfgang in question was on the ground, bleeding from his nose and lips after getting kicked and punched by the shouting man.The second-in-command of the Harling Gang had come in person, and from the looks of it, he was a Player too.“E-Ella ran away with the loot! Just give me one more we-”Andrei of the Harling Gang punched the pleading Wolfgang again before cleaning his bloodied hand and smiling.“We’ve waited long enough, Wolfgang. We don’t care if Ivan died or Ella ran away. You borrowed money from us.”“The interest was too hig-”“Still speaking?!”Andrei gestured for his men, who ganged up on Wolfgang and gave him a brutal beating. Admittedly, Wolfgang didn’t suffer as much considering the tenacity of his body. Normal humans wouldn
