Lore and Geography

Hello, this is for those who are interested in the Lore of Re; Hell Gate and the Geography of Astria’s(Hell Gate world).

******

Astria is the name of a titan, more precisely, the last Titan that still lives. Titans have many shapes and they are gifted with absolute strength and outstanding magical abilities.

Astria is a titan which took the shape of a world, not a planet of a star. This world, which has the same name as the titan, has four continents.

First, the Human continent, situated at the center of the other three and inhabited mostly by humans. Unlike the Forgotten Continent, the Human Continent is ruled by only one Empire but some say that the Holy Church is akin to another ruler, a dorming one…

Second, the Itas Continent, situated East of the Human continent and home to the Elves and, most importantly, the World Tree, a sacred tree that the Elven race worship and pay much care to.

The World Tree’s branches encompasses all of the Itas Continent and towers over the sky, casting a shadow on half of the continent. In addition to the elves, there are minor seclusive clans and sects South-East of the continent and unlike the people of Astria, they do not rely on Mana but on Qi to empower themselves and utilize heavenly techniques.

Third, the Demon Continent up North, housing the Imperial Demon Family and, of course, demons, which are the archenemy of the humans. The war between the two races has been ongoing for thousands of years and shows no signs of stopping.

The Demon Continent is the smallest of the four continents and is primarily composed of snowy mountain-ranges and very old ruins.

Last but not least, the Western Continent, a total wasteland in which the beastmen tribes live. Almost the entirety of the continent is nothing but a flat surface, its earth corrupted and dyed with the blood of millions of people. It is said that millenniums ago, a blood occurred there and turned the continent into what it is today, a godforsaken piece of land with harsh living conditions.

A great distance away from the four continents, isolated from everyone and everything else, is the Forgotten Continent. Bigger than all four other continents, this one is shrouded in mystery and sealed away by a sage to protect it and keep its secrets hidden.

Not much is known about the Forgotten Continent as, for the most past, it remains unexplored. Technically, it is not part of Astria… it is an extra that relies on the titan to supplement itself with Mana, Qi, and Nether Energy.

Black Mountain City: Situated North-East of the Forgotten Continent, it is one of the four main cities of the Noules Empire and, not long ago, it has fallen to the Blight Beasts, forcing countless people to migrate to Radiance City.

Radiance City: The closest and biggest human settlement to Black Mountain City, it is the main living quarters for the Holy Church, meaning that the Pope is always present, rendering the city lord, Marchioness Catherine unable to control it properly as there are thousands upon thousands of the church’s believers there.

Radiance City’s vicinity is relatively peaceful compared to Black Mountain City and it houses more players than any other city due to the abundance of dungeons around it.

All the dungeons were cleared by the Holy Knights, making it nigh impossible for them to erupt and very safe for adventurers and players to explore.

Imperial Capital, Noules: The capital of the Noules Empire and the biggest of the four cities. Protected by high walls fortified by magic and more than 500,000 soldiers, all under the King’s behest.

The Imperial Capital is East of Radiance City, in the Dragon’s Maw Canyon, to be exact.

NetherFrost City: Separated from Black Mountain City but a long snowy mountain range, NetherFrost city was built on top of an old dwarven conurbation. It is directly North of the Imperial Capital and its city lord is Viscount Frederic Contoix but many people say the true ruler is Silver Gicolt, the Commander of the Knight Squad of Noules.

The world outside of Astria and vast and boundless but, it can be split into three immense zones, which, together, are called the multiverse.

The first one, which is where Astria is, is called the X-TR500 Universe, commonly known as the System Universe. Dominated by the game-like system, it houses system users and advanced robots that can even rival gods.

It is the biggest out of the three universes but not anyone can enter it and it forces restrictions on any welcomed visitors.

The second ‘zone’ is the Cloud Sea Universe, a place where Cultivators live and die. It is the most chaotic universe and often referred to as the Fool’s Tomb.

Third is the Heaven and Hell Universe, which, as the name suggests, literally has Heaven and Hell. Actually, it is divided into two parts, one for Demons and the other for Angels and spirits.

*****

Mana: One of many types of energy, superior to Qi in practicality and very abundant in Astria. With a pair of special eyes, one can see Mana, which takes the form of tiny blue particles that, when used properly, will merge together and transform into a specific attribute.

Qi has a green color and comes from the Earth, though not as strong as Mana, when harnessed in the correct manner, it can increase one’s body by an absurd amount, making one capable of flight.

Nether Energy: The most common energy in the Cloud Sea Universe, used by the cultivators to strengthen themselves and increase their Realms.
