Niyad's face lit up when he heard this, a sliver of hope appeared in his eyes.
"You're from Blenheim!? But wait, you're a dark fae. No dark fae originate from Blenheim and from what I know they were hunted to extinction. How could a fae live around humans and not be detected?"
Sercy's eye twitched a bit when she heard his response, but not enough for him to notice.
"I said I was hired." She responded in an icy tone. The temperature in the forest dropped a bit and Niyad shivered.
"I didn't mean to offend you, it's just that..." Niyad stopped talking then bit his lip as if he was having an internal battle about something.
"I'll trust you since you've said that you were hired by Blenheim. Actually, I am also from Blenheim."
Sercy raised an eyebrow in question to his response. She tilted her head to the left with a dangerous look in her eyes. Truthfully, she already knew this from the moment he said his name. He was the son of that woman who had been able to sense her presence. "Then why are you a benefactor to this bandit group that took the innocent lives of civilians from your own land?"
He stared up at her, the expression she had made him more inclined to trust her. ~She seems to really care about Blenheim, although she claims to just be hired.~
"Alright, I am from Blenheim and I was there when they attacked the village. I recognized the bandits when they started attacking because I've met them before."
The truth.
"I saved someone from their bandit clan before. The person I saved turned out to be very important to them. It happened while hunting in the woods during the drought two years ago. Because of this, they've treated me friendly ever since. When they attacked my village one of them sent a message saying he was sorry, but he had to do this. He didn't explain why, but in the end they were about to kill the remaining group of children when another one announced that this should be enough. He suggested they take the children for now. I ran out from hiding when they said this in an attempt to negotiate and now here I am."
The truth.
“The children, where are they?"
"I'm not sure. They promised not to kill them and instead spoke of integrating them into their bandit clans. They said if they had just stopped them and left them alive, it would be obvious that attacking and robbing the village wasn't really their intention."
-"What were their intentions?"
"I'm not sure."
Loud screams echoed from a camp in the distance causing Niyad's head to whip to the side staring off into the distance. "He's that fast? It's only been about 5 minutes."
"If he wanted to, he wouldn't need more than 30 seconds to wipe out all the bandit camps that exist in this mountain."
Niyad shuddered at the thought,
"Then why is he..." he cut his question short, not sure if he should ask.
"Because his killing ban was just lifted. He is savoring the feeling."
Niyad's face paled a bit at this information. Sercy looked away from him staring blankly into the distance. Niyad's eyes examined the exposed section of her face. She looked completely different from before. Her eyes were darker and shone with a slight purple glint that made one think boundless stars were trapped inside. His eyes roamed her body from head to her toes. He couldn't help but think how beautiful she looked, almost ethereal.
The wind blew and a strand of her hair lifted which drew his attention to the knife he had given her earlier. It stuck out of her hair, which was now wrapped in a bun.
So this is how a dark fae looks?
He felt as if he was being sucked into a trance when suddenly Sercy glanced at him, startling him out of his daze. He awkwardly cleared his throat, then looked away.
The once quiet forest was filled with blood-curdling screams. Each time Count showed up at a different location he freed those who were captured, then pointed at the oldest person ordering them to lead the others back to the village.
After witnessing the bloodbath created by him, the villagers shakily followed his orders almost scampering over themselves to escape.
There was one particular camp that only had children as captives. When he released them, they were a whimpering mess and none of them looked old enough to lead the others. He sighed in annoyance before mumbling to himself.
"Ugh... This is precisely why I told Sercy I'm not a nice guy. I don't want to be nice. A few centuries ago I'd just eat you all... But no, good people don't eat children."
A child hearing what he said peed himself, then started crying even louder which caused Count to throw up his hands in exasperation rolling his eyes dramatically.
"Calm down kid... I said a few centuries ago. My diet now is strictly old bad people." After saying this he swung both hands to the side as if presenting something, he motioned to a headless corpse whose head he had bit off a few minutes ago.
"Now kids, bundle together so Uncle Count can send you back to the village."
Waving his hand, his Qi manifested into the shape of a bat. He waved his arm, causing the children to go unconscious, then lifted them on to the manifested bat. He then waved his arms once more and the bat flew off in the direction of the village.
Sighing, Count disappeared once more, reappearing in a camp a few miles away.
He looked around noticing that he was in the center of a few gathered bandits.
They were all momentarily startled at his sudden appearance.
"Oops?" Count in a sarcastic tone, before smiling.
The bandits all moved in to attack at the same time, a flurry of colorful cultivation magic was shot towards Count before exploding with a loud boom.
When the smoke disappeared, there was nothing but ash where Count was standing which caused the bandits to breathe a sigh of relief.
"The balls of that weakling must have been really big, thinking he could blindly teleport into our bandit camp. Did he use a faulty talisman or something?"
One bandit commented as the others started laughing in agreement.
He felt proud for his comment which gained the agreement from his peers, so proud that he didn't realize that everyone suddenly went quiet and started backing away from him.
The temperature in the woods dropped and an aura of death could be felt seeping from between the trees. The bandit's heart started racing now sensing that someone was standing behind him.
He turned around slowly and was greeted by Count's pearly white teeth smiling eerily at him.
"My balls? They are quite big, but I'm far from weak."
After saying that his smile seemed to stretch much farther than it should be capable of, all the way back to his ears. His jaw dislocated revealing another row of extremely sharp teeth. Count's mouth expanded to the size of the bandit's head then he chomped down.
The bandit's headless body fell to the ground and Count's face returned to normal. He moved like a dainty lady slowly removing a handkerchief from his coat pocket to gently tap at his mouth, wiping away any blood that might have escaped his lips.
"Bleh, that tasted horrible, I find that the dumb ones have less nutritional value."
He looked down at the corpse in disappointment before turning his attention to the pale expressions of the men in front of him. A few took small steps back and others fell over their own legs. Fear made it difficult for them to move.
Count raised an eyebrow in amusement then gently said.
"Boo."
One man fainted while the others started to scramble away in all directions.
Their terrified screams filled the night, followed by the laugh of a very happy Count.
Sercy stood unmoving as she listened to Niayd's steady breathing that deepened, a sign that he fell asleep. She double-checked his consciousness then put a seal on his mind that prevented him from waking up unless she released it. Ever since the moment she laid her eyes on him, something kept bugging her. There was something different about him that seemed extremely familiar to her, but she could not put her finger on it. He even smelled appealing to her. Stooping in front of him she felt his pulse, then started to examine his face then neck. She sniffed him trying to figure out why he smelled so good to her but she had no idea. A puzzled look overcame her face as she sat next to him deep in thought. Removing the knife from her hair, she used it to prick his finger sniffing at the blood that drained from it. ~His
When Niyad woke up, his muscles were sore all over. He inspected the empty duvet next to him where his mother had slept the night before. His mother hit him repeatedly while crying after he got home. She then decided he would sleep in her room that way she could stop him from having one of his stupid heroic spells with a knock upside his head. A small smile tugged at his lips when he woke up. He examined his face in the copper mirror that stood in his house before going out. "Mother?" he called out. "Yes, Ny?" "I'm heading out to the river." He announced "Yes, be careful," she called from her little kitchen. Niyad smiled then st
Sercy looked out of place while drinking broth around a small old dining table. She was way too extravagant to be in the house. She had changed her appearance before going to his home and no longer wore her veil. Although her features changed drastically and her seductive figure was also less appealing, she still looked extremely beautiful.Niyad's mother emerged from the kitchen, with a bowl of soup that she placed at the table."Madam benefactor I'm sorry that I don't have anything better to offer right now, this is a boar Niyad had hunted a few weeks ago.""Oh no, this is delicious, because of my cultivation realm I don't normally need to eat. This home-cooked meal brings back memories." Sercy smiled sweetly.Niyad g
Niyad, who was at the river, examined his environment before entering meditation. The moment he closed his eyes Sercy appeared before, her white gown fluttering in the wind. She examined his face then sat in front of him without announcing her arrival. Her face wore a contemplative expression almost as if she were trying to solve a puzzle. After staring at him for a few minutes, she cleared her throat to announce her presence. Niyad's eyes snapped open and he shivered a bit when he made eye contact with Sercy. "You're on time. Sit still, I'm going to trace your meridians and make a diagram that matches how they are laid out in your body. Like mine, your veins are in a different pattern from humans so their cultivation methods would be useless to you. It's surprising that you even made it this far without ki
Sercy sat in her quarters brushing her hair constantly, her eyes were out of focus. She no longer wore her veil and the knife Niyad had given her was on the floor. She had discarded it the moment she entered the room. Almost an hour had passed since she sat there brushing her long silky hair repeatedly as if in a trance. This was something Count hadn't seen her do for Decades. An action only done like this when her mind was clustered or she was upset about something. He started pacing in the room before asking. "You're upset?" -"Yes." "Why?" -"That's what's upsetting me even more." Sercy's tone was flat. "That he was able to mak
After entering the house his mother exited his room looking a bit jittery. "Where did you go all night?" "To train." "Your cultivation level, it's much lower than it was before, and what happened to your clothes, why is there blood? " A worried look was on her face as she started to examine his body. "I'm fine mother, it's just that I had to start from scratch in order to cultivate the method master gave me. So I punctured my dantian to let the Qi leak out. " "You idiot, you could have just guided it out of your body. Wait- Master? I thought." Niyad smiled weakly, then walked away. "That would take too long, I have to reach the
Kiro, ruler of the Southern Kingdom sat on his throne fuming angrily. Five days ago the heads of two thousand soldiers were placed outside the royal palace. It was a direct slap to his face as the king. Someone was able to get into his territory and kill two thousand soldiers then place them directly in front of his palace without alerting anyone. What made him even more upset was that all the soldiers killed were cultivators and one of them was his third son. There was a note stuffed in his mouth that read. 'The Kingdom of Blenheim always pays its debts- The Jade Queen' He knew some form of retaliation would after they trespassed into the Blenheim territory, but he didn't expect it to come so soon or in such fashion. <
~Two of them!! How the hell am I to lose two of them? It's even more impossible to fight!~ He quickly checked the cultivation of the other beast and saw it was at the mid stage of the ivory realm. ~The only way I can survive this is if I kill the weaker beast first then focus all my attention on getting away from the second beast.~ Touching his storage ring, a bow and arrow appeared in his hands. He suddenly turned to face the weaker beast then took aim at it. Coating the arrow with his Ivory realm energy, he pulled the bow back then fired. Not waiting to see the outcome he got up and started sprinting again. The beast howled soundlessly as the arrow pierced it through its neck rupturing the larynx. It fell motionless and the arrow embedded itself in the tree behind it. A slightly surprised look was on Count's face as he watched from a distance. ~This silverback spirit wolf is not from this area, how did he know that its neck was a weakness?~ After creating a large enough distan
Helshire Continent Kiro gritted his teeth in anger, his entire body was coated by fire Qi as he inspected one by one, the lifeless bodies strewn in random locations. A few days ago, Peter put him in charge of leading a search group that consisted of only tyrant realm cultivators. Their goal was to find the location of the lamia then alert Kiro who would be in charge of capturing it. His group started out with a total of thirty eight cultivators in all who were then split into several smaller groups in order to efficiently comb the forest. However, the lamia was far craftier than he had expected, and as a result fifteen of his men had disappeared. After a brief search, he found their remains. The wounds on them were similar, a single slash to the neck; This suggested that they were all killed by the same person or beast. The most eerie part was that none of them seemed to have expected their deaths. Which means whatever killed them, was quick enough to surprise them and quiet
Sercy, Nora and Niyad stood above the walls of the Southern Kingdom, they arrived just in time to see Aloysius grabbing Viktoria before sprinting in their direction. The moment he breached the wall they made eye contact and his shocked expression turned to one of relief once he recognized them. After coming to a stop he gently placed Viktoria on the ground then turned to face the trio, now that he had backup they could easily wipe out the rest of the sovereign realm experts.Nora, who didn't think much of the red haired man, asked directly, "I'm only sensing a few Sovereign auras in the city, are they all enemies?" Aloysius, not sure of her identity, hesitated a bit before nodding in response. Receiving an answer, Nora swiftly raised her bow aiming it at the city. The temperature around them rose rapidly and the trees withered as all the water in the surroundings vaporized. She relaxed her fingers and a red Qi arrow shot forward growing in size as it descended on the City. Unlike w
Southern Kingdom The people within the Cultivation city of the Southern Kingdom didn't hesitate to evacuate. Although they weren't allowed to use the transportation formations for security reasons, the borders of all three Kingdoms would be opened if they decided to relocate via merchant routes. They also had the option to retreat to smaller villages and cities within the Southern Kingdom if they wished to stay in the territory. After making sure everyone left, the two split up to destroy the transportation formations. It didn't take long before Viktoria finished and contacted Aloysius. "Are you done destroying the formations to the North and east?" The Ice Queen used a communication talisman to speak with the Barbarian King. "Yes, what about on your end?" "I'm already done so meet me back at the Western entr-" A large Qi fluctuation caused Viktoria to pause; Her eyes grew wide as her divine sense picked up on something. "Aloysius, 20 of them, sovereigns..." "Shit!" Was A
Niyad stared wide eyed at the two figures before him. One was his mother but her current image looked unfamiliar to him, even her aura seemed foreign. The other was technically his master, someone he had grown fond of in a weird way. But he had transformed into a strange beast with a baleful aura of death surrounding him. Count's true form was ten times more terrifying than anything he could have possibly imagined. It was almost impossible to find a creature of his likeness, what exactly is he? An amalgamation of beasts? A chimera?Niyad made a mental note of Count's true form, the more details he noted the more his mind felt jumbled. ~The head of a fox, eight eyes, his two centermost tails were snakeheads, shiny fur the color of obsidian. Chains, what beast had chains? ~Just what exactly is he? I was disrespectful to this thing? How am I still alive? GULP~ Once more Niyad's mother pulled on her bow string and aimed. Niyad wanted to stop her but was interrupted by a deep voice pro
The Blenheim KingdomNora was angry as she glared at Sercy, "What do you mean Niyad isn't with you? I just sensed more than twenty new sovereign auras on the continent and you can't tell me where my son is?""I assure you Niyad is safe, he is currently on a mission with a hidden expert who has been with me for more than a century. He has the cultivation base of a Divine expert above the origin realm even stronger than myself"~Someone I was unable to sense?~ Information that Sercy thought would comfort Nora made her worry even more.Nora remained furious but reeled in her temper a bit. "You should know that being the minor lord doesn't mean you're the strongest person on Thorsus."Sercy became rigid at Nora's warning and was unable to mask her shock. Although she knew Nora wasn't normal, for her to know such things without being in the Divine realm..."I just hope Niyad is safe for your sake." were Nora's last words before she turned to leave. Once again Aliel was left dumbfounded by
Peter was shocked that even with his Azure Dragon blood and domain activated he was still being suppressed. The aura of the creature before him was enough to intimidate him, it even caused the image of the illusory dragon behind him to tremble. He realized that he couldn't depend on his instincts as much as he did before because the danger was now all around him. ~I need to act now if I want to survive this.~ With a roar he raised his arm and pointed it at the figure of Count in the distance, "DRAGON DESTRUCTION!" Peter yelled and all the divine energy he could muster accumulated in the illusory dragon behind him. In one swift movement the dragon shot around him and charged towards Count in the distance. The dragon transformed into waves akin to a tsunami and a loud rumbling sounded out as the dragon crashed into Count. Peter didn't stop there, he brought his hands up above his head and swirls of green Qi representing wind energy formed into cyclones. He then slammed the palms of h
Peter's hair stood on end, trusting his instincts, he quickly tilted his head to the side then glanced to the left. The clawed hand of a beast was suspended in a grabbing motion right where his had been a second before."F*cking Cockroach!" He heard someone behind him swear and he didn't hesitate to leap away quickly then twisted his body to get a good look at what it was that attacked him."As I thought, it's difficult to kill someone in the divine realm without using divine energy myself." Peter's eyes narrowed at the eerie figure that stepped out of the spatial tear.A grating sound rang out as it moved forward akin to chains being dragged along the floor. It wore robes with a familiar crest that represented the Blenheim Kingdom and a veiled hat that hid its face. Though it had the figure of a man, something told him that this thing was not human. He could feel an aura of death seeping from it.The creature moved a clawed hand to remove his hat revealing a bluish tinted face with br
The Sovereign realm cultivator wore an arrogant smile as he probed Niyad with his Qi sense. "Your aura is that of a third stage Sovereign realm expert, while that is abnormal talent for a kid like you, what makes you think you can stay alive after that declaration?" Niyad smirked, "You should know that A Divine tribulation expert is currently at the Azure Dragon palace assassinating your current lord, unless you want to be next, I'd advise you to choose wisely." "Divine tribulation? Don't let me laugh, that's impossible. Plus whoever it is won't make it out of the palace. Our current lord has the azure dragon blood running through his veins." ~What bullshit even if he had the blood of the divine turtle he would still die.~ Niyad was already annoyed, to him, the sovereign realm expert's looks were annoying, his clothes were annoying, even his voice was annoying. In one fluid moment he pulled his bow from his life space ring and notched an arrow. "Is your final answer no?" The Sove
The old man stared at Niyad like he was a lunatic and what a coincidence, he never felt more like a lunatic than he did today. "How did you find me?" The man finally said. Surprisingly, Niyad felt no hostility directed towards him, even after he had made such a ridiculous declaration. This encouraged him to be honest with the old man, "I didn't, Lua did." He replied pointing at the beast next to him. After eyeing Lua with slight interest the man scrunched up his nose then looked at Niyad like he was a pile of dung, "What kind of mad person thinks they can just go around ordering people to sign a soul contract? Your Queen must be batshit crazy." Niyad: "I..." He did expect a response similar to what he got albeit a little less vulgar. He wasn’t sure how to respond to the old man, because without any context, their sudden demands did sound ridiculous.~I should have gone to fight Kiro instead.~ Lua snorted and Niyad couldn't help thinking he was being laughed at. Feeling the urge
