His eyes were hardly convinced by what he saw. "Father, please...please tell me that you are indeed still alive." The words came out of Vandread's mouth almost instantaneously, just in time as tears were also beginning to form in the outer corners of his eyes. The agony and pain that he had been experiencing earlier were now replaced with a feeling of yearning, and he was also relieved to see his father whole and unharmed again. The tide had turned in the ogre's favor, and he now had the upper hand. Especially now that Vandread was fleeing from the ogre as quickly as he could. However, much to his chagrin, he was unable to come up with any strategies that would allow him to eventually turn things around. There are a couple of different courses of action that Vandread has been considering right up until this very second. The first strategy would be to retreat into the woods and ambush the opponent there. Because of the trees that were all around, the ogre wouldn't be able to jump at that point in time anymore. Despite this, the only thing that could be a problem with that option would be the amount of time. At this rate, Vandread was moving considerably more slowly than he had been earlier. If he decided to go with that alternative, the realization of his goal would either be possible or impossible, depending on how he moved.
