Corruption

She froze, her hand was still gripping the flag's handle as she looked at me with a mixture of confusion and concern.

"What's wrong?" she asked, and I could hear the uncertainty in her voice.

"I'm not sure," I admitted, my gaze still scanning the chamber.

"Something doesn't feel right. I feel like it was too easy, that this is a trap."

Marcus furrowed his brows, "What are we missing?" he murmured, more to himself than to either of us.

Just as Olivia began to loosen her grip on the flag, a faint click echoed through the chamber.

We all tensed up as our eyes darted across the room, trying to identify the source of the sound.

Before we could react, the floor beneath us began to shift.

The stone tiles slid away, revealing a gaping chasm below.

Olivia stumbled and lost her balance as the ground beneath her feet disappeared.

In a burst of adrenaline, Marcus and I lunged forward, each of us grabbing one of Olivia's arms just before she plummeted into the abyss.
