He covered his mouth and screamed again.“Oh my god, my roommate is Malcolm Shade,” he said and screamed again. He began pacing around the room till I grabbed him by the shoulders to calm him down.He was wasy shorter than me, so I towered over him with my large frame.“Calm down,” I simply said.He looked my right in the eye and his face turned bright red.Suddenly he went limp in my arms and fell to the ground, he’d fainted.‘What the heck?’ I thought to myself.First day of school and this was already happening, I lifted him off the floor and placed him off his bed.He wasn’t so heavy, and I couldn’t tell if it was because he didn’t weigh much, or if I was just that strong.“I’ll just let him sleep I guess,” I said to myself.I looked around the room and explored the environment.I expected it to be a small room with a bunk bed, and it was actually small. However, it was divided into two parts, one for each room member. We each had a closet, a desk which had some drawers, and a bed
The next day arrived so fast, and the rays of the sun cast its light into our room through the window.I got up from bed a few minutes after eight, and I was shocked to see how much time had passed. The entrance ceremony was by ten in the morning, and every student was supposed to be there at least thirty minutes before the time.I glanced at my alarm clock and it was some minutes past eight.I jumped out of bed in shock, I’d set the alarm to wake us up by six in the morning.‘I must have overslept’ I thought to myself.I didn’t think I would, but the bed in the room was actually very comfortable, and large enough to accommodate my huge frame.Usually when I was introduced to a new place that wasn’t my home, or that I wasn’t accustomed too, I would have trouble sleeping. But that wasn’t the case here, and I felt a sense of relief in a sense, I wouldn’t have to worry about getting sleep at night.I hurried to the other side of the room and woke Tucker up.He didn’t respond at first til
Most of the event was boring to me, and I found myself yawning most times.Hardly anyone was paying attention to the event, this was until the Vice Chancellor came to give his address. He spoke smartly and everyone listened with rapt attention. He was a very strict person and a disciplinarian, no one would want to get on his bad side.“Now I’m one who always appreciates academic excellence, and I do my best to encourage students to always come out on top. It is my honor and pleasure to recognize the student with the top score in the entrance exams this year, Mr Malcolm Shade!” he shouted and everyone began to clap loudly. They were all confused at first, and looked left and right to see where I was seated.“Alright Tucker, wish me luck,” I said and shook his hand.I got up from my seat and pulled off my nose mask, and I began to walk toward the stage. As I walked past everyone, the applause became louder and louder, and there were screams and cheers from all the students.I carried my
I had cemented my name in the history books, now everyone would know my name.‘Mission success,’ I thought to myself. My plan worked to perfection and I was at the top of the food chain.Soon after the chants died down and I was asked to return to my seat.Everyone screamed loudly anytime I passed their seat, till I finally took my seat at the very end, beside Tucker.“Bro, you’re amazing, how do you even do stuff like that?” He asked and laughed.“I’m rich,” I responded. It was a phrase I’d begun to use more often, and I enjoyed the sound of it.There was no need to hide behind a mask now, I knew exactly what I wanted. The rest of the program went on pretty quickly, and I was getting weird looks from people, mostly girls. Some would look at me and give me naughty smiles, others would stare at me and when I made eye contact with them, they’d swiftly look away, probably being shy.Tucker was right beside me and simply watched all this unfold, and he couldn’t help but be more shocked.“
After listening to everything he had to say, I reached a conclusion. No one should be limited in life because of the decisions of their parents.Yes they have a say in our lives, but they shouldn’t be the ones to have to dictate how we live it.It was about being morally upright, and I believed that as long as we weren’t hurting ourselves, hurting other people, or hurting the general public, then it wasn’t wrong. No one would want to spend the rest of their lives doing something they wouldn’t want, everyone needed to be able to chase their dreams, and our parents should be the ones to guide us on that path, they owed us that much.My mind wandered to how large gaming was going to be in the future. It was the largest industry of entertainment in the world in my past life, it made more money than the movie and the music industry combined, and that was a crazy statistic. If Tucker managed to pull his cards right and actually do this gaming thing properly, he could end up making millions,
[Tucker’s POV]‘I can’t believe that the…Malcolm Shade is my roommate,’ I thought to myself. He was a recurring name in the mouths of every freshman, probably every single person in Columbia university. And he just happened to be my roommate? Nah that was crazy for me.It was way too convenient, like a blessing sent to me directly from the gods. But honestly, I couldn’t help but feel skeptical about the entire situation.I was trained to believe that life wasn’t a bed of roses and that nothing came easy.If all of a sudden everything began to work in my favor, I would get worried. At least these were the thoughts in my head before he offered to help me.Growing up as a child I always loved gaming, but my parents always wanted me to consider it as a hobby. However, I had other intentions. It was something that I enjoyed doing genuinely, I could spend hours on end doing it without feeling tired. When I even hinted the idea to my parents, the amount of disapproval they feigned toward me
[Malcolm’s POV]I woke up the next morning feeling very tired, and as the sun shone its bright light into my room, I squinted my eyes. The bed in our rooms were nice, however, they paled in comparison to my original bed at home.I just wanted to lay there once again, and stretch myself under the large covers as I usually would.I sat up at the side of the bed, and cracked my neck.I slept on my side and it wasn’t very comfortable, and I was caused some level of discomfort.‘I might just get this room refurbished or something, maybe even get a bigger bed,’ I thought to myself. If it didn’t go against the code of conduct of the school, then I would definitely try it out.We had lectures by ten in the morning, and I glanced at my digital alarm clock and saw that it was just some minutes past eight.‘Perfect,’ I thought to myself, and I got up and began to get prepared for class.Tucker was still sleeping deeply, and he didn’t look like he had any intention of getting up, at least not any
As I contemplated and wondered when I would finally get to see the girls, my attention was brought back to the class, when the lecturer walked in.He was a man of average height, and blonde hair of medium length. He looked to be very young and if I didn’t know any better, I would consider him to be one of the older students in the university. He was dressed in a suit, and looked very smart from head to toe. He wore black shoes that looked like they’d been polished to perfection, and they had a shine to them.I guessed that he was probably in his early thirties, and I was impressed when I saw his demeanor, he looked to be doing very well for himself. The whole class quieted as he mounted the podium, and he picked up the microphone and spoke.“Good day everyone,” he said, and his voice echoed across the room. The microphone was connected to speakers mounted at all corners of the classroom, so we would have no problems hearing the lecturer.I was impressed by the infrastructure of the cl
