CHAPTER 2- THE TRUTH

"I wish to at least see a nephew before I go"

Ryan arrived at the moment Flynn said those words so he got to hear what he said.

Upon hearing that, Ryan did not want to participate in the conversationand was about to sneak his way out but was held back by Flynn.

"Where are you running to?" His deep voice rang in Ryan ears.

"Brother, you should understand best.." not allowing him to finish, Flynn spoke.

"I don't care, but who would inherit the family after your gone.

You need to start training the heir from now."

"But brother why don't you do it. Why don't you give us a nephew" his voice getting lower as he spoke, towards the end, his words turned to whispers.

His brother's eyes were like eagles staring at him.

"See, big brother, you don't want to, so how could we." Nathan said with his lips curled up.

"Don't follow my footsteps in this matter. I could get married but I am someone who is about to die. If I do such a thing, am I not going to hurt them after I leave".

They both lowered their heads. Many people speculated about their discussions.

The banquet had been going on for a while now.

The brothers discussions came to a halt when a lady who did not know what was good for her approached them asking for a dance.

Nathan gave Ryan a look which he understood and left for the microphone.

"Hello everyone" his voice brought the music and dance to a halt.

"The birthday celebrant is not feeling too well and would like to leave. If there is no celebrant to celebrate, how could the party continue. But before he goes, he would have to cut the cake".

Upon hearing his words, those with ulterior motives sneered as if they couldn't wait for him to slump there as it would be best for them.

Some people were quite dissatisfied as they could never get this kind of chance to network again, as the Wright only seem to hold important parties such as weddings, engagements etc.

Some felt it was a pity and said no more, while a portion of them were drunk or had booked a room with who knows who.

The cake was cut quickly. The girl who came to them was criticized by other ladies as they felt it was because she walked up to them knowing the Wright men nature.

The banquet ended quickly and hall became deserted in a few hours as others continued partying while the Wright family had left.

Those who had ulterior motives gathered to discuss.

There were some speculations on how he would die but no one expected him to live for an extra year which was very, very surprising.

The Royal family and others who planned to get a share of the pie were stunned when they found out that they were losing the ones they had and immediately retreated to protect what they had left.

Rumor had it that the princess or the previous Wright family's head being Flynn father discovered the Zerg queen that Flynn killed.

Because of that conquest, it was very hard to sabotage Flynn's and the Wright family name especially as he was and still is a hero. Doing that will only agitate the citizens.

Imagine if the ones that could protect them gets killed because of jealousy and power struggle and they are left with nothing but incompetent fools in power, not only would it be disastrous, but it would also weaken the faith of the citizens in the Empire.

In the Royal family Palace.....

In a room illuminated by the light coming from the wall which cast a dim light across the room, it was better off than not being illuminated at all.

The light cast a shadow on a lady sitting on the bed with a pale face and looked skinny that she was almost unrecognizable. She was none other than the supposed princess.

Flynn could not find her to take revenge as the royal family hid her well.

If he saw her now, he would be shocked, was she not supposed to be living well? Maybe having a happy life or be with another man.

Her voice which used to be crisp and clean now sounded like a broken chain which is very unpleasant to the ear.

Her blank and dull eyes looked at the man in front of her.

He was none other than the emperor who was rumored to dot on his daughter so much that she became spoiled and arrogant.

"Why?"

Guilt flashed through his eyes as he looked at the girl who looked like a broken rag doll.

He covered up the guilt and looked at her pale face with a sneer.

"Why what? Do you want to ask if you are my daughter? then you don't have to ask as you would not have suffered this much if you killed or got close to the Wrights like I asked you to.

You aren't even willing to punish his parents for their hate and estrangement towards you.... So useless." He remarked, trying to erase the guilt he felt.

Hic!! Hiccup!!

She looked at the emperor who stood before, hiccupping. Staring at his face, she spoke:

"Why do you hate the Wright family so much? I don't think they ever wronged you?" she asked.

She had noticed that he was drunk since he strongly reeked of alcohol. She hoped to get some important Information from him which she did.

She agitated him and he spilled everything like water. He did not notice anything amiss or the hidden camera with a recorder.

It turned out that Mrs. Wright was someone he was supposed to marry and he fell in love with her but was taken by Mr. Wright— Flynn's father.

As for her, she was his brother's child.

He said his brother was always obstructing him in whatever he did in the name of care and out of anger after being shouted at for something he did when he was young. He had tweaked his brother Mecha which caused it to malfunction and he was killed in battle.

As for her mother, she begged him before she died of depression to take care of her.

"So you spoiled me to be useless?" She asked, her voice trembling with her face filled with disbelief.

"Hehe of course, what do you think.... that i would take care of you for free?" he said with a mocking tone.

" Do you know how much the Wrights hate you?" upon saying that, he saw the twinge of pain that passed through her eyes.

Like a sadistic maniac who found pleasure in people's pain, he laughed and said a shocking secret.

"I killed his parents on your behalf and left signs that led to you. Do you know they came to find me to hand you over to them but how could I? I made him think I was covering for you and his hatred depended."

"Are you not also attracting his ire to the Royal Household?" she asked in disbelief.

"The Royal Family has the highest authority what can he do? I have tried sabotaging his name but it's so hard, so you would do it." He laughed as he said that and left with his cackling laughter echoing throughout the room.

He laughed so hard that he descended into a coughing fit.
