That is… the worst sentence I’ve heard. It cringes the soul out of me. But apparently, the guards bought it… I think, and approve of our request to enter inside. Chloe is still stunned right now, not because she is flustered to become Prince Faelar’s partner, but for the entire phrase. Well, the good thing is, we’re finally out of the water. And we made the guards laugh their arse out the moment Prince Faelar said those words. As soon as the gates creak open for us, the town immediately welcomes our eyes. The plaza is already in front of us. And the landmark the Eastern Republic has is some sort of wishing fountain where anyone can throw how much coin one has to make a wish. There are dozens stationed on the water park as the demi-human children throw coins one after the other as they clutch both of their hands, close their eyes, and silently wish among the stars. Speaking of demi-humans, this place is crawling with them! Everywhere we glance, there’s always a demi-human or a semi-m
“That is pretty… embarrassing. But I like it,” Prince Faelar mumbles, and finally says what he’s thinking about.“While we were walking down the streets and everyone was bowing their heads to greet each other, I… I didn’t know that. Us nobles have a different way to greet each other… And after all this time, I have no idea how the common people talk to each other.”“All this time, you have never talked to anyone in the village before? Except for the nobles, of course,” Chloe asks.Prince Faelar answers, “Yeah. My parents told me that there is a better time and place for that, so they isolated me from the outside world. The window from my castle was my only friend. But when I became a herbalist… or took interest in concocting medicines, I somehow made a connection when I told my butler to give those that I made to the villagers. But I never directly met them before. Only this once.”Chloe pauses for a while before continuing to her next sentences. “Hmmm. Then how is your experience in
Whenever I use that turn off function, I don’t feel anything. It feels like I’m dead, but I ain’t. And it also feels like I’m sleeping, but I am not rejuvenating sleep or recovering my consciousness. It’s just that… my mind goes blank, and I don’t have to think, which feels nice. I don’t have that kind of feeling where my thoughts jumble inside my head because I lack some sleep or need some food. This sensation makes me some sort of robot. However, during that night, the alarm goes wild. I’m the only one who can discern the alarm, so the blaring sound doesn’t wake up the prince and the princess. And I have made sure the alarm that has set off would depend whether the intruder was nearly here with us or just a minor threat that I can consider giving my attention to.For now, I recognise the sound. And it is giving off some vibes that I have to check my surroundings, ensure that isn’t just some random thing going on outside. The lounge we are sleeping in is a small space that could bar
“THE ADVENTURER’S GUILD IS RIGHT AROUND THIS BUILDING?!” I shout, when we find out that the place we are looking for is already right in front of our eyes. Yep. That’s right. The gargantuan and familiar sized logo with the words written beside it “Adventurer's Guild” is something nobody will miss. Unless, of course, they are a gun and a princess with a prince. There’s no point in crying over spilt milk, so Chloe and Prince Faelar enter the adventurer’s guild and proceed to the receptionist desk. The place is a whole lot similar to the adventurer’s guild we have visited. The only difference it has are the adventurers seated on their chairs and the design of the walls and paintings at the sides. A couple of these adventurers are humanoid creatures that share a resemblance of animals such as dogs, snakes, and even foxes. Others are plainly creatures that I can mistake them as monsters if it weren’t for their intellect and morals of not causing a scene. Maybe my mind is corroded with
Now that I have mentioned it, I never got the chance to gauge Lara’s prowess. I check her out right now and see what I can find. It’s fun differentiating the powers of humans and demi-humans, so we have a great idea how these creatures work and their abilities. It’s just… my curiosity, that’s all. I have never intended to fight Lara, Julie, or the rest of the adventurers below our feet. This is just for research purposes. It appears Lara is thirty levels above us and is nimble as a speeding bullet. Chloe will have a hard time shooting Lara if the two will ever fight. But thanks to our additional arsenals and me as Chloe’s second mind, we can somehow win that battle if the clash ever occurs. The blade hidden in Lara’s sheath is imbued with something special. I don’t know what it is, since I cannot see it. But I somehow assume that dagger is made of dwarves and other gems only found on the outskirts of Eastern Republic or from the deepest caves. The same can be said to Julie, since tha
At the nick of time, Chloe parries the incoming attack Eric did. Despite it being just Eric’s tail, that part of his body has turned into a weapon, even sharper than the regular bastard sword. If that blade slices us, we would’ve already bid our prayers and goodbyes to Chloe’s dominant hand. Afterward, Prince Faelar reacts and jerks back from his seat. He checks left to right, hoping this isn’t real. Out of all the experiences we have, this might be the most intense one. Prince Faelar, Chloe, and I don’t know what is happening, but… it seems Eric and Lara deems this as a normal occurrence happening in the adventurer’s guild.Instead of being at the defensive side, Chloe jolts to the flank, reaches out for me, and aims me, her gun, at Eric’s head. The headmaster widens his eyes in surprise the moment he sees me, the weapon, in Chloe’s hands. Lara shares the same amazement as Chloe. But it seems these two staff from the Eastern Guild find these scenes… amusing rather than threatening t
……………. First Person Point of View of ???? ……………………. I have no idea why I have to help Zero when he told me he has everything under control. Zero has told me he has made a mistake, and I should be the one who would act as the headmaster guild and provide Chloe her rewards for accomplishing her tasks. If I don’t, the entire Eastern Adventurer’s Guild would fall into chaos. Not because of Chloe, but because…. “I killed Eric, the Headmaster of the Eastern Republic. You’re the one who’s in charge of the Eastern Republic, Anne… I need some time to prepare my attack on the Eastern Republic. Just… give me some time, will you?” It has always been like this. After meeting with the princess from the first adventurer’s guild, I have to make something happen and act as the headmaster of the guild for Zero’s sake. But this is what a leader should do. I want Zero to take over the city, which he has been doing so quite a lot. This time, the princess will be affected. I know everything. But sinc
“For the last question, Zoe Sunstone, did you find any clues or leads of the rogue adventurers, specifically the four leaders of their organisation?... And, are you perhaps a rogue adventurer yourself? Or did you help a rogue adventurer?”“Don’t worry about me asking about this… I’m not a rogue adventurer. I’m the headmaster of this place, so you’re safe inside here.” Eric lets out a nervous cough and adds, “Apologies for the sudden question. This might delay your schedule of getting the rewards, but rest assured you’ll get your prize once this is all over. I’ll have Lara prepare your new title as adventurers and the rewards that come with it. Not to mention, you are free to collect whatever task you might find interesting on your way out of the building. Just like any other adventurer’s guild structure, we have a bulletin board placed near the ingress. And since you’re already C=Rank adventurers, you are now allowed to get B=Rank tasks and lower than that. There are also special requ
