Jasenki did not return to his lodgings but went straight to the merchant’s guild to meet with Yarpin Dale and request him to procure enchanted bullets and firearms from his secret supplies and contacts.

Meanwhile, Lord Sebastian decided to spend the night beside his ailing elder son.

This left Ezra and Aurelia alone to discuss the upcoming hunt and make the necessary arrangements for tomorrow.

Aurelia was firmly against Ezra’s idea of fighting the griffin alone. And if it were in her hand, she would have never allowed him to embark on such a perilous quest. But, Ezra had already raised the stakes to challenge Jasenki and there was no way for him to back out of this mess.

“I don’t know what you were thinking, brother, but hunting a griffin all alone is a terrible idea. Most E-level Gunners would crap their pants just at the sight of that thing,” Aurelia began in an anxious tone, but it quickly changed to inquisitive. “I still can’t believe you killed a Behemoth. Maybe I am worrying too

Ezra woke up covered in sweat, but his right hand had stopped aching now. Even though he heard the trumpet signaling the start of the hunt, he did not get out of bed. He was still thinking about the dream he had just seen and wondered if it was really just a dream or had something more to it.Holding up his right hand, Ezra addressed Marlin. “I had a dream last night. You were in it and there was a great battle going on between the elves and humans.”Hearing that, Marlin’s cursed eye reappeared followed by his mouth. “That was not just a dream, my Lord. It was a glimpse of my past life. King Rudeus Gerlaine was able to defeat the elves after a long and bloody battle, and it was all thanks to my inventions. I was his best Gunsmith.”“I saw those Gunners unleashing lightning strikes and meteorites upon the battlefield. And I am pretty sure not even the most elite Archmage can rival their power. Those enchanted bullets completely turned the tides of the battle,” Ezra said.Marlin smiled

Jasenki climbed to the top of the tree by using a rope ladder and then carefully positioned himself inside the gunner’s nest. From here, he had a clear view of his surroundings, and the pine cones and needles offered just enough shade to hide him from preying eyes. The two hunters hired by Lord Wilhelm climbed onto the two watchtowers and prepared their compound crossbows. Loading steel-tipped bolts into their weapons, they waited patiently for the griffin to show up.If Lord Wilhelm had tried to hire any member of the adventurer’s guild for such a task, they would have declined the offer without a second thought. It was because every adventurer worth his coin knew that hunting a Fork-tailed Griffin was a perilous task, and violating the rules of Ishani’s hunt could get them imprisoned or even exiled from town. However, these two hunters had agreed to do the dirty work since they were mercenaries from the distant city of Nilfaria. Hence, the common laws of Aranor would not apply to th

  • Reincarnated in another world with a Gunsmithing System   On the griffin’s trail

Seeing their prey standing there by his lonesome, the wolves slowly emerged from the bushes, baring their dirty white fangs at Ezra. These weren’t the common gray wolves one encountered on the road, but their larger brown-coated cousins. The pack consisted of two male leaders and comprised of twelve younger males.Ezra counted twelve in total and a few young females hiding inside the shrubbery. Without his Soul Drain ability, the odds were stacked against him, but he wasn’t bothered in the least because he was looking for a challenge, one that would help him test his skills with his weapons. As the growling wolves encircled Ezra, trapping him in the middle of their feral pack, he tossed his six-shot revolver in the air and spoke aloud, “Extended Hand: Stabilize!”The gun flicked around and became upright, before stabilizing mid-air. A runic circle of light appeared around it, keeping it at its center, and its barrel started glowing.“Why did you feel the need to do that?” Marlin aske

The wounded hunter clenched his teeth and pressed his lips as tightly as possible to muffle his pained cries. But Jasenki wasn’t ready to let him off the hook so easily. “I think you are pretty hard of hearing. Let me help with that!” Jasenki fired two shots which struck the ground, narrowly missing the hunter’s left ear. The hunter’s eyes widened as he trembled in fear. His heart was pounding inside his chest, but he tried his best not to cry for help because he knew his cries would attract a bigger monster than the armed noble standing before him. Frustrated by the man’s stubborness, Jasenki moved closer and stepped on his wounded knee. “We did not have to do this the hard way, but you left me no choice. I want you to squeal like a pig!” Jasenki kept applying pressure, crushing the man’s bleeding knee with his boot till he finally could not take it anymore and let out an anguished scream. “Arghh! My leg!” “Yes! Keep screaming for me, you filthy peasant!” Jasenki pressed his fo

  • Reincarnated in another world with a Gunsmithing System   At the griffin's nest

Jasenki had managed to get a head start on Ezra by choosing to set off early and climb the steeper and more barren side of the mountain, but his advantage meant nothing now. The griffin had escaped with minor injuries while Jasenki lay unconscious with little hope of resuming the hunt anytime soon. Meanwhile, Ezra had taken a safer route cutting through the woods, and managed to avoid fighting the griffin. However, he was now approaching the griffin’s hunting territory. The long journey had brought Ezra out of the woods, and now he was ascending a winding trail littered with animal bones, tattered blood-soaked clothes, and rusty weapons. “It looks like our flying friend has been using this place to dispose of the leftovers after its lavish meals,” Marlin remarked as he scanned the path ahead with his cursed eye. Ezra’s horse started neighing and shaking its head as he continued ascending the trail. He tried to spur it forward, but the beast refused to move. Instead of trekking up

  • Reincarnated in another world with a Gunsmithing System   The killing ace

When Ezra had embarked upon this hunt, he had made all the preparations necessary to confront a griffin. But he wasn’t expecting something like this. Even Aurelia hadn’t told him the Southern Fork-tailed Griffin had access to a magic ability. Ezra was completely cornered by the dust storm, and his magic power kept dropping steadily till it finally hit zero. [Magic power completely drained!] [Current magic power: 0%] With all his magic power drained within seconds, Ezra could no longer shoot enchanted bullets from his gun, and the longer he stayed in the middle of this storm, the more fatigued he would feel. A Gunner without magic power was just a normal human, and despite Ezra’s skill with the gun, he knew he had no chance of killing the griffin with normal bullets. “The winds are getting too unruly. We can’t stay here much longer,” Marlin said to Ezra. Even though he was a mere parasite, the magic drain was affecting him too, causing him tremendous pain. “Get us out of here!”

  • Reincarnated in another world with a Gunsmithing System   A humiliating defeat

Inside a small hunting cabin deep within the Zakashi Woods, Glenn Azarenki closed his eyes while sitting inside a pentagram painted with his own blood. In front of him was an earthen bowl surrounded by red candles. The scroll Glenn had given Ezra before parting ways contained a third-tier blood curse that could be used to drain low-level enemies. By unleashing the curse, Ezra had bound the griffin hatchlings to the blood mage. Now Glenn could feed on their blood as long as they were alive, and they could neither fly away nor hide. As Glenn’s bowl filled with griffin blood, he smiled and thanked Ezra. Griffins were rare and powerful hybrids, and drinking their blood would not only restore his youth but augment his powers as well. “You have been very kind to me, Lord Ezra. I promise I shall repay the favor someday,” he vowed, crossing his heart before drinking the tangy red liquid pooled inside the bowl. As the griffin blood coursed through Glenn’s veins, his skin turned clearer and

Led by Sir Galahar and his Royal Gunners, the Imperial army had finally arrived at Racinta. The ruined city looked inhospitable, much like the rest of the barren lands around it, but it was much safer to be camping inside Racinta, than resting in the open while the undead were howling in the dark. The dome of holy light shielding the ruined village kept the shadows at bay and allowed the soldiers to finally catch their breaths. They had been marching for two hours now, and even the horses looked tired. But Aurelia knew they had to get moving as soon as possible, or Lorelai could use her blood magic to wreak havoc on them.As the soldiers secured the village and gathered in the middle, Count Gressil lit a bonfire and ordered the men to drink up and recheck their gear.Meanwhile, Sir Galahar instructed two of his most trusted Royal Guards to scout the way ahead and scope out Ignar

Ezra’s medallion emitted a faint green light, and a cloud of darkness gushed out of its core, taking the shape of a humanoid entity. The Tainted Djinn emerged from the shadows, holding a mystic lantern dangling from rusty iron shackles.“How may I serve you, master?” It asked, bowing its hooded head in submission.Ezra pointed at Malodor’s corpse and replied, “I need to talk to him. Reckon you can arrange a meeting?”“Of course, master. Your wish is my command,” the Djinn replied before moving across the room like a shadow and hovering over Malodor’s lifeless body. It uttered an archaic incantation in its raspy voice and lowered the mystic lantern, allowing its pale green light to illuminate the necromancer’s pale white face.Using its Dark Rite ability, the Tainted Djinn summoned Malodor’s soul before Ezra, binding it to the mystic lantern for a few fleeting seconds.A ghastly gray apparition materialized in front of Ezra, and the air turned cold and arid.“Welcome back, Malodor. • Malodor's Fall

A Gunner with a sword was a rare sight, but Lord Sebastian had trained Ezra to use short swords and sabers at an early age. He wasn’t the best when it came to melee weapons, but the situation left him with little choice.“Please guide my hand, Goddess,” Ezra uttered a faint prayer to the Goddess of knowledge before reaching out for the flaming longsword. As Ezra grabbed its handle and wrapped his fingers around the hilt, the flames rose higher, and the runes carved on its surface pulsed with divine energy. This wasn’t just any enchanted sword, it was one of the five divine weapons wielded by the immortal deities. And right now, this blade had chosen Ezra as its new owner.[Yolen’s Blade equipped successfully!][Magic Power consumed: 5000%!]Just equipping the sword drained Ezra’s magic power by half, but that wasn’t all. Each second he held onto the blade it continued draining a portion of his magic power, draining his energy at an alarming rate.Ezra took a deep breath and grabbed th

  • An ever-evolving enemy

The Undead Hydra’s incredible regenerative ability amplified Ezra’s problems, leaving him in a precarious situation. In the sky above, the Crimson Maw was rapidly taking shape, forming itself into a demonic head, and Malodor was still far out of his reach.Realizing that he needed to deal with the hydra as quickly as possible, Ezra reloaded his enchanted minigun with Flame Burst Bullets and fired again, concentrating on the monster’s bloated belly.A blistering volley of fiery explosions lit up the hydra as the flaming rounds seared its dark hide, but the projectiles did not manage to punch through its toughened scales.Ezra rotated the weapon, targeting the softer spots on the hydra’s chest. This time, he succeeded in burning a patch of rotten flesh and leaving a deep scar on the monster’s body. But despite being peppered with a thousand rounds, the hydra refused to go down. Its skin molted, regrowing a new patch of flesh covered with a hardened layer of scales.“What the hell is th

Staring death in the eye had become a habitual hazard for Ezra by now, but his legs froze as he saw the Undead Hydra’s serpentine head inching toward him. “Not tonight!” Ezra tossed a Shock Grenade at the hydra and jumped back. The blast zapped the oversized head, forcing the hydra to pull its snaking neck back into the green mist and disappear once again.Although the Basilisk’s Toxic Cocoon was shielding Ezra from the hydra’s poisonous breath, he could feel his eyes burning from the smoky haze. It was as if someone had sprayed pepper on his face, and each time he squeezed his eyelids, tears trickled down his face, stinging his skin like needles.Dizzy and disoriented, Ezra looked around frantically, scanning his surroundings for any hint of movement. But everything seemed as still as death, and the hissing noises had ceased as well.“Where the hell are you hiding? Show yourself!” Suddenly, a hydra head appeared from the left and sprayed Ezra with dark fumes. He started coughing fi

  • Hydra's Breath

Ezra was so focused on stopping Malodor’s demonic spell that he had forgotten all about the hydra. But now that the monster had emerged from its dark lair, there was no way forward without slaying it first.“I sure am glad we aren’t fighting it inside its underwater cave,” Marlin whispered in his cold voice, his cursed eye glued to the hydra. “But it’s still going to be one hell of a battle.”The Undead Hydra glared at Ezra, its five vicious heads bobbing up and down as long forked tongues slithered out of its mouths. It was a gigantic monster covered in slimy gray scales and patches of rotting skin infested with maggots.“How the hell is that thing even alive?” Ezra questioned, unable to comprehend how this monstrosity was still standing even though its rotting flesh was covered in thousands of open wounds and deep scars.“You know they call it an Undead Hydra for a reason,” Marlin whispered back. “I am quite sure Malodor resurrected a dead hydra with his dark magic and cursed it to

  • The first confrontation

Cekunia’s walls had been breached, and the undead lurking in the streets had been wiped out with extreme force. A lone Gunner had led the machines through the captured city and marched straight to its heart.Malodor was impressed by Ezra’s unshakeable resolve and great leadership skills. Despite having no support from the Imperial Army or Royal Gunners, he had somehow managed to bring Cekunia to its knees, and now the port city was wide open for assault.“You did well, Lord Ezra. I must confess I never expected you to make it this far,” Malodor’s wispy voice echoed in the darkness as he manifested like a shadow, floating ten feet above the ground, his withered old frame wrapped in loose black robes. “What do you seek, my Lord? And I mean, what do you really seek?” he whispered in a cold voice, staring into Ezra’s soul.“I am here for Tanya,” Ezra replied bluntly, glaring right back at the levitating necromancer.Malodor heaved an exhausted sigh and replied softly, “That girl belongs t

  • Malodor's corrupted stronghold

Ezra downed a magic restoration potion and topped off with an elemental affinity potion before heading in through the destroyed wall. The Blademaster Sentries had already gone ahead and engaged the Skeletal Warriors protecting the gate. When Ezra entered Cekunia with the rest of his troops, he was shocked to see how the undead had transformed the port city and turned it into a hellscape tainted with rot and corruption. The huts and cottages were covered in black tar, and the small shacks had been demolished to create room for bone totems that went deep into the ground and tainted the city with their malign influence. The city’s only cemetery had been plundered and razed to the ground, and the feral ghouls feasting on the rotten remains of the dead had turned it into a bloody boneyard.“Damn…This was my mother’s city. This is where she was raised and educated. I remember Aurelia telling me that mother loved watching the ships sail by on a starless night. But they destroyed everything.

  • All becomes flesh

Marching straight into the heart of an undead city did not seem like the most prudent thing, even though Ezra had an army of Sentry Bots at his back, and Marlin was quick to dissuade him.“You don’t even know what’s on the other side. It’s not a smart idea to climb into that dark hole without a plan.”Ezra brushed off his words of caution with a dismissive shrug. “It doesn’t matter what’s on the other side. I can handle it.”But before Ezra could invade the city with his forces, a dirty green liquid oozed out of the wall and the ridges on its surface started throbbing spasmodically. A repulsive belching noise smothered the silence as the ruptured portion of the wall regurgitated half-eaten bones and wads of flesh which filled the gap, closing the hole.Ezra watched in disgust as the wall convulsed like a feverish pig that was about to vomit its last meal all over the haystacks. The sight of the wall reforming with the remains of the dead made Ezra retch hard, and he had to close his
