The undead abominations resurrected with dark magic, continued marching toward Magaravia, led by the Behemoths. Servius chanted a spell to conjure Magic Towers around the city and fortified the dome of light to protect the populace.

As the resurrected corpses rushed mindlessly toward the southern gate, the barrier pulsed, emitting a purification wave that annihilated their rotten bodies. The skeletons and ghouls fell in droves as they tried to storm the city, but the Behemoths persisted through it all.

The Arcane Blasts emitted from the Magic Towers merely slowed the brutes, but they continued trudging along and advancing toward the wall.

Ezra had two targets in sight: the Bone Dragons and the Tainted Behemoths. He knew he could not handle all of them alone, so he chose to rely on his newly tamed servants.

“Take down those Behemoths,” he ordered the apparitions under his command.

The Dark Wraiths and Withered Banshees obeyed at once and swooped down to tackle the lumbering giants.

The unexpected reinforcements from the East, coupled with the arrival of the Elementalists from the Mages’ College had saved Magaravia from certain doom. But Tanya knew that things were only going to get worse from here. The undead were known to be relentless attackers, and this defeat was nothing but a minor setback in their grand scheme of things. As long as the three necromancers were alive, they would stop at nothing to destroy the capital. However, Aurelia’s arrival ushered the hope of a new dawn amidst the dark storm clouds. Her reputation preceded her, and even in these dire times, people fondly remembered the girl from Aranor who had aced some of the toughest Gunner exams. As Aurelia set foot inside the capital, Princess Aleena rode out of the palace to greet her in person.“Lady Aurelia, I have heard so much about you. It is good to know that you are alive and well. We are forever indebted to you,” she spoke humbly and welcomed her with a smile. “If there is anything I can do

Aleena took her place on the high throne, and Queen Guinevere sat on her left while Servius stood on their right. It was a special session of the royal court under Aleena’s leadership, and for the first time, the courtiers included a High Mage and an Eastern Overlord.“This royal court is now in session. We have gathered here to discuss and deliberate upon our next course of action against the undead,” Aleena began. “Please feel free to state your opinions, and I promise I shall act on your counsel.”Marquis Desmond and Marquis Sullivan were the first to rise since they held the most influence over the nobles in the absence of Duke Carrington.“I recently received a troubling report from my scouts. Ezra’s sudden revelation caused quite a stir in the throne room as the courtiers started chattering and speculating about the origin of his mysterious powers. No Gunner on Valaria had ever been able to learn the art of Gunsmithing, even after years of tribulation.Marquis Desmond looked suspiciously at Ezra’s system panel, scrutinizing every word and analyzing his skills. He could not believe how someone possessing such a high-level magic talent could acquire a secondary talent.“Is this another one of your acts? Are you trying to trick us yet again?” Marquis Desmond asked, staring at him curiously.Ezra swiped his system panel away and replied, “I have no more tricks up my sleeve. I know how to craft enchanted firearms from scratch. In fact, I can draw my own blueprints as well.”“Did you know about this?” Count Gressil asked Aurelia. Even he could not wrap his head around this miraculous discovery.“He did request father to gift him a Gunsmithing Workbench a few months ago. But I tho

Most of the Gunners of this world were reliant on single-shot rifles and flintlock pistols, and only the most affluent could afford enchanted nock-guns and carbines. The technology of this era was centuries behind what Ezra had seen in his past life, which made his new invention even more attractive. What was even more impressive was the fact that Ezra’s new blueprint was so simple it would allow the Gunsmiths and engineers of this city to mass produce the rifle without needing any complicated machinery.Once Ezra presented the Blueprint in court, Aleena immediately showed it to her favorite knight.Sir Galahar was wonderstruck at the sight of this powerful new weapon. Not only was it lighter and more compact than a musket but was much easier to maneuver from cover. After taking a few quick shots at the training range, Sir Galahar was delighted by the rifle’s performance. The kings of Valaria had fought countless wars over the years, but the undead posed a completely different challenge. Unlike the Elves and the Merfolk, the undead neither tired nor felt any pain. To make things worse, they were supported by the powers of a dark deity. As night drew its dark blanket over the sky, Ezra welcomed Aurelia to his mansion, and they began discussing their plans for the attack over a couple of jugs of ginger ale and finely roasted horsemeat from the East.“So, we finally managed to unite the remnants of humanity,” Aurelia said with an air of levity as she grabbed her glass jug from the table. “Cheers to us Romanovs. We really know how to make allies wherever we go.”“Just like father used to say,” Ezra replied, reminiscing about the past.“A true Romanov can make friends of foes and resolve quarrels without firing a single bullet. But he must also know how to shoot like an Ace for when the times get dark,” Aurelia reiterated Lord Sebastian’s words and took a si

It was still wet and pulsating with dark energy.“They teleported straight into her room via a dark portal,” he observed before shuffling across to examine the other things. “And just how the hell did they manage to get inside a shrine? I thought Ishani’s light repelled all practitioners of dark magic!” Count Gressil was fuming with rage, his bloodshot eyes restlessly flitting across the room. “I should have never allowed her to follow this madness. Now, her blind devotion has cost her everything. Damn, the shrine. Damn, Ishani!”Moving to the far end of the room, Ezra reached Tanya’s bed and found the bedsheets stained

Marlin was reminded of his younger days as he watched Ezra work tirelessly under the light of the table lamp. He measured every single line with perfect precision and sketched like a man possessed, till finally, a faint outline emerged on the paper. There were several mechanisms in this special weapon, each composed of hundreds of tiny moving components. But this particular gun looked nothing like a rifle or even a hand cannon. In fact, it resembled something close to a mechanical extension of a Golem’s arm.“Is this also a weapon from your world?” Marlin asked, unable to contain his curiosity any longer.“Yes, it is one of the most powerful guns to exist in my world. But it's usually fitted on battle vehicles since it is too heavy for a single soldier to carry around,” Ezra replied without pausing his work.Marlin was surprised by this new information. “There are vehicles in your world that wield guns?” he asked.“No, the gunners stationed inside man the guns. Corrupted Slashers stood at the top of the necrophagic hierarchy, and despite being similar to ghouls, they were driven by wild hunger and often could not differentiate between friends and foes.A single Slasher could slaughter an entire village, and only trained Gunners could handle a Slasher prowling among a pack of ghouls. However, these undead monstrosities were rarely found in the open and disliked hunting in groups.Strangely enough, Marquis Desmond could already count fifteen Slashers hiding in the shadows. It was a bizarre occurrence, one that posed a bigger threat than a horde of ghouls."There is too many of them," Marquis Sullivan whispered, furrowing his brow. Count Gressil had known this rugged terrain for decades and was no stranger to such tricks. Ezra’s medallion emitted a faint green light, and a cloud of darkness gushed out of its core, taking the shape of a humanoid entity. The Tainted Djinn emerged from the shadows, holding a mystic lantern dangling from rusty iron shackles.“How may I serve you, master?” It asked, bowing its hooded head in submission.Ezra pointed at Malodor’s corpse and replied, “I need to talk to him. Reckon you can arrange a meeting?”“Of course, master. Your wish is my command,” the Djinn replied before moving across the room like a shadow and hovering over Malodor’s lifeless body. It uttered an archaic incantation in its raspy voice and lowered the mystic lantern, allowing its pale green light to illuminate the necromancer’s pale white face.Using its Dark Rite ability, the Tainted Djinn summoned Malodor’s soul before Ezra, binding it to the mystic lantern for a few fleeting seconds.A ghastly gray apparition materialized in front of Ezra, and the air turned cold and arid.“Welcome back, Malodor. In the sky above, the Crimson Maw was rapidly taking shape, forming itself into a demonic head, and Malodor was still far out of his reach.Realizing that he needed to deal with the hydra as quickly as possible, Ezra reloaded his enchanted minigun with Flame Burst Bullets and fired again, concentrating on the monster’s bloated belly.A blistering volley of fiery explosions lit up the hydra as the flaming rounds seared its dark hide, but the projectiles did not manage to punch through its toughened scales.Ezra rotated the weapon, targeting the softer spots on the hydra’s chest. This time, he succeeded in burning a patch of rotten flesh and leaving a deep scar on the monster’s body. But despite being peppered with a thousand rounds, the hydra refused to go down.
