Orcs' Attack

 "Come on boy, is that all you have?" Sawyer kept pushing Aleric to do more. They are currently sparing and Aleric has decided to become a magic warrior, the hardest all occupation. A magic warrior is an occupation of being a magician and also a warrior. It's the hardest o train, it's hard to be either of the two, so it's much harder to be both. Aleric discovered that life is like a story and for him to be the protagonist, he has to take the hardest road. 

"Your right is unguarded." Sawyer said as he strikes Aleric's right with his wooden sword 

"No, it's not." Aleric used earth magic to protect his back. Once again Sawyer was surprised at how Aleric can perform chantless magic and perform magic without waving his hand. It was possible for Aleric to do because his heart is his mana core so it means every part of him can be used to perform magic, he doesn't need to use his hands like other magicians. 

"You are truly fast on your feet?" Aleric said stepping on the ground. This simple movement made the earth tremble, making Sawyer lose balance. Aleric strike down the moment Sawyer lost his balance and it was a sure win for him.

"You're 50 years early for that." Sawyer said as he balanced himself with his left hand and kicked away Aleric's wooden sword with one leg and kicked Aleric away with another.

"You only manage to protect yourself because I always tell you where I am about to strike." Sawyer laughed at Aleric as the poor boy was holding his chest in pain.

"But you didn't tell me now."

"That's because you are improving." Sawyer left and Aleric crossed his leg to meditate. Sawyer is a warrior and just like Enzo, he is an 8th class warrior. He left the elf kingdom to travel the world and know if he can see something that would make him advance to 9th class. He left the elf kingdom to his son but his journey was almost coming to an end when he met Aleric. He decided to stay back and teach the boy that he was sure would change the world. 

"I have been teaching him for 6 years now, soon he would be 13 and would leave for the academy. I wonder how the world would react when they see this monster." Sawyer muttered.

They continued their training and Aleric's improvement was astonishing. Tatia also has become a great healer for her age and her master could feel more proud.

"I would be leaving for a while, don't forget to keep up with your training." Sawyer instructed Aleric before leaving. He decided to go back to his elven kingdom and get the boy a very fun sword that would befit him. The journey would take him months but he would be back before Aleric leave for the academy.

"Thank you master for everything you have done." Aleric bowed to his master before leaving.

Aleric never stopped his training and months passed. He always spend his free time with Tatia and would occasionally tell her how beautiful she was becoming. Tatia was getting more beautiful day by day while Aleric is also looking unkempt, he is always ignoring his mother's pleading to cut his hair.

"I will tell my parents about myself tomorrow." Aleric told Tatia and the latter was happy about that. She was afraid Aleric will choose not to tell them and instead decide to become a vagabond and miss the chance of admission.

"Thank you for that." 

"Why?"

"Nothing." Tatia shrugged.

"Alright, let's get home it's already late." Aleric walked ahead as he kept kicking the Peebles on the ground.

"You hear that Morgana, he would be joining us." Tatia's master has already sent a letter of recommendation to Vemersapitia Academy and they are willing to accept such a rare talent like Tatia.

"Where is father?" Aleric asked his mother while having breakfast.

"He was summoned by the king." Aleric exchanged a glance with Tatia and shook his head. He wanted to tell his parents about his mana core and everything but with his father gone, he has to wait.

"Any idea when he would be back?"

"In a week or so. Is there any problem?"

"No mother." They ate their breakfast in silence until a disturbance came.

"My lady, there is an attack in the village of Olag." A knight announced as he disturbed their breakfast. 

"What of the knights?" Aleric asked before his mother could.

"They went to protect another village."

"So you mean two villages are under attack?" Aleric knew it was a coordinated attack, the orcs purposely divided their troops to attack different villages.

"Yes, and the problem is if they get past Oleg nothing would be stopping them from reaching the capital. I have already sent a message to the lord but I fear it would be too late before he comes back." 

"How many knights are remaining in the castle."

"About a hundred."

"Alright, rally up 50 of them we would be matching to fend off the attackers."

"Young lord that's too few, the report said there are more than a thousand orcs. It would be suicide to go face them with 50 knights." The knight didn't tell Aleric that the remaining knights are not strong enough, they barely made it to knighthood.

"It's a suicide waiting for the orcs to reach the capital after they have pillaged Oleg village. Go get them ready that's an order." The knight was unable to refute his young lord that is not up to 13 years old.

"Aleric, we should try to close the gate and wait till your father returns."

"No mother, in the absence of my mother I have to keep the state safe." Lady Brienne couldn't believe the words of her weak son.

"No son, you need to keep yourself safe." She held Aleric's hand and the latter smiled warmly.

"Mother, you have to trust me, the orcs have just made their greatest mistake." Aleric removed his bracelet for the first time after 6 years and the level of mana that was oozing out of his body was so overwhelming that lady Brienne and Tatia stumbled back. Aleric felt like the shackle holding him has been freed, he felt so light that he felt he could fly.

"3rd class?" Lady Brienne muttered. Lady Brienne was just 2nd class magician and what she felt from her son was above her class and no child the age of Aleric could make that possible. Aleric has become a 3rd class magician warrior and that means he is strong as a 6th class mage or 6th class warrior.

"I will be back mother." He left without giving lady Brienne a moment to hold him back.

"I will keep him safe." Tatia went after Aleric. Tatia was also surprised because she never thought that Aleric was already this strong.

The knight was surprised when they saw their young lord coming to lead them without wearing armor. Of course, no armor would size someone as young as Aleric unless it was specially made armor. They all knew about the talentless young lord so hearing he was the one that gathered them they felt disappointed and some of them were thinking about running away the moment they saw a chance.

"You mean he would be leading us too?" A knight asked his friend. They kept murmuring and saying how the young lord is about to foolishly throw away his life.

"I am not here to give you a nice speech and make your heart soar high to the extent of wanting to lay your lives down for me." Aleric addressed the knights before him. "I am here to tell you that if you fall or Fail, your women would be kidnapped, raped, and reduced to nothing." Orcs always kidnap females and use them to satisfy their sexual urges. "I here to show you the reality if we fail to stop the invaders and protect our lands." Slowly Aleric began to release his mana and it was enough to cover the area the knights were standing. They felt it in the mana core that the young Lord standing before them was no longer the weak one they knew.

"As your young lord, I order you to match with me!" Tatia was watching by the side and never had she felt so proud of the boy that has won her heart. The knights left and the initial plan of running away left them because of Aleric revealing his mana. Each of the knights knew they are heading to a war they had no chance of winning, but Aleric somehow filled them with hope.

About an hour later the knight arrived at their destination and the sight that welcomed them was repulsing. The few men in the village have engaged the orcs in a fight and the orcs were yet to get past the little fence they had. After the attack on Tatia village, Lord Enzo instructed the villages within the borders to build fences as a means of protection. Even with the fence, more humans had died, the sight made Aleric feel dizzy. Though Aleric was above his peers this was his first time being on a battlefield. It didn't take long for him to shake it off because he knew people are depending on him.

"Start attending to the injured." Aleric climbed the fence and cast a fire spell to make the orcs withdraw back and give his men time to recover the injured. The fire was so much that it burnt down multiple orcs.

"Knights, take over from these brave warriors." Aleric was just wearing a red shirt and black leather pants, he wasn't putting on any shining armor like any of his knights, but to the villagers, he was shining the brightest.

"Bring them over here." He heard Tatia's voice and his eyes widened.

"Tatia?" He called looking down to where the voice came from. He saw Tatia already healing the wounded villagers. Aleric felt proud of her and the same time worried. Because he was occupied he had no idea that Tatia came along, he took a mental note to be more careful in the future.

"Attack!" The orcs chieftain ordered and orcs numbered in hundred ran towards the fence and the gate. Aleric hurriedly created a wall of fire in the gate making sure they wouldn't break it. With the arrival of Aleric and his knights, the orcs decided to become serious about the war.

"Don't let them climb up!" Aleric instructed. He knew this was the best choice they had. He kept using fire spells to attack the invaders.

"Anybody that can use a bow should also assist." The village hunters were too eager to help. The presence of Aleric has given them much hope.

They kept resisting the orcs and the orcs knew if this continue any longer they would likely all die without achieving what they came for. The knights were surprised that Aleric was making countless spells instantly and he is not yet tired. He would use wind magic to make the arrows travel a great length and make earth spikes protrude from the walls to knock down some orcs fighting. He would also use fire to burn some of them. The knight was convinced that Aleric was enough to fend off the invaders. They all felt that Aleric was a great magician because he was yet to use a sword.

"Switch to plan B." The orcs chieftain ordered then step down from his mount. The orcs always use the warwolves as their mount. Warwolves are four times the size of a normal wolf and they are ferocious creatures that enjoy war. The Chieftain joined the war wielding his big ax. He is bigger than average orcs and he is a 6th-class warrior. With the swing of his ax the fire Aleric used to protect the gate was quenched, and with another swing, the gate was sliced open. 

"Get in there carry whatever female you can and return to me!" He ordered his troops and they all matched in. Before Aleric could cast an earth spell to obstruct them, the chieftain swing his ax at Aleric. The shockwave from the Axe threw Aleric off the wall and he was unscathed because he was shielding his body with manner.

"Kill the Wizard!" The orcs that were about kidnapping the girl attacked Aleric.

"We have to help the young lord." Some of the knights ran down to help Aleric. 

Before they could arrive, Aleric has already engaged them in combat. He took the sword of the first orcs that attacked him and started killing the orcs. It was a one-sided massacre, the orcs realized that Aleric was more than they could handle.

"Fools, I ordered you to take the girls." The chieftain entered and engaged Aleric in single combat. The Chieftain noticed that Aleric was just a 3rd class so he was confident enough to handle Aleric. 

"I don't know what forbidden spell you're using to make you fight for this long while casting a large number of spells without getting tired. I should warn you though, the backlash would be bigger than the gain." The Chieftain thought that Aleric was using a forbidden spell to have last this long without tiring out.

"I am just starting." Aleric has trained to make his stamina last long and with the fact that Mana is constantly circulating his body automatically, Aleric would be able to fight for long without tiring out. The two crashed each other but the sword Aleric was using wasn't strong enough to fight the Chieftain's great ax. The sword chattered at the first impact and if it wasn't that Aleric used wind magic to evade the Axe, it would plunge into his heart.

"Lucky bastard." 

"Here." The knight that reported the issue threw his sword at Aleric. The sword was too long for a young boy to use but it wasn't a problem for Aleric. He engaged the Orc a second time and the sword did not shatter this time around.

The fight dragged on and the chieftain was getting frustrated that he couldn't take care of a child that is just 3rd class. The orcs knew that it was already a historic feat for someone so young to be a 3rd class but it's impossible for a 3rd class to hold his own against a 6th class.

"What's sorcery is this." The chieftain that is prided as the strongest in his clan is having difficulties fighting a child. Engaging the chieftain was what Aleric hoped for because it made the war pause and it was a means to save his soldiers, little did he know that even the chieftain had other plans.

"We have succeeded Chieftain." One of the orcs announced.

"Looks like we have to continue our battle some other time. Let's withdraw!" The chieftain ordered his troops and they withdrew. His troops that were more than a thousand were now below 500.

"Should we chase after them?" A knight asked.

"No, let them go." Aleric said with a steady breath and the knight wondered if he would ever be tired. Aleric knew the knights were tired and he needed to start attending to the injured, he was glad Tatia was healing as much as she could.

"My Lord, they have kidnapped some of the girls, even the saint that came with you was abducted too." An old lady fell on the floor as she announced. Aleric didn't need a soothsayer to know who the saint was.

"Leap." Aleric said and jumped into the air towards the orcs that were retreating.

"Aaaaah!" He roared and fear gripped the orcs that were escaping. They have realized that Aleric is the bane of their existence.
