Young master baxia exhaled a sigh of relief and fall back to fell to the floor. He tore off a part of his cloth and tied it on his forehead where the crown had been placed.
"Bring in the food and the drinks" The sect master ordered with joy. The crowd roared in return. The sect master was not a stingy person, He had killed plenty of cows for this day so there would be more than enough food to go around. The house of master yin was in charge of the cooking so everyone knew they were expecting nothing short of a blissful meal."Eh the young master is really strong isn't he" Harith's mother said to him."hmm" Harith nodded in agreement. Enduring the pain of crown of fire on one's head sounded like something he wouldn't like to try."it's time to serve the food, I'll be back. Don't cause any trouble while I'm gone" Harith's mother said and joined the people that carried food around.Harith stared at her as she left...did she always have to work so tirelessly? Even if she wasn't his real mother he still didn't like seeing her running around and about at this age, the owner of this body wouldn't be pleased with him if he left her suffer like this."I have to get stronger" In a world like this strength and power were the things one needed to have an established home. Harith had already lived a worthless and miserable life in the past. He got bullied by his peers and love wasn't even on his side. The only way to avoid being as miserable as before in this life now was to get as powerful as possible."He said he's going to get stronger!" A voice mocked and the laughter of a small group went along with it.Harith stared at the group of teenagers that passed by him....were they laughing at his words? "How would someone that couldn't even awaken his element get stronger" "Maybe he means physically stronger so he can help his useless mother out in the kitchen" "Hahahah what a useless bastard" The group laughed as they left.Harith's eyes twitched. What do they means by he couldn't awaken his element when he literally summoned fire from his mouth just yesterday?! "Useless bastard? I'll show you all who is useless" Harith clenched his teeth as he vowed.....
As the feasting and drinking continued on Harith couldn't resist the temptation and he decided to indulge himself. Him too joined in and soon his belly was as big as a blown balloon.
"Ah is it time" The sect master asked."Yes it is, this is the final custom" one of the men seated next to him replied "The young master will have his Ceremonial duel with one among his peers" The head guard announced."Young master!""Oouu so handsome!" The crowd praised the young master as the head guard announced. The end the ceremony the next in line to the sect master position would usually have a friendly duel with a selected person among his peers. No matter who was selected the next in line would usually come out as the winner since it was considered disrespectful to defeat on on his Ceremonial day, especially one as important as this. Besides, the one next in line was usually much more stronger than his peers. The young master came back down to the stage with a sheathed sword in his hand, one could see some oil on his mouth if they looked closely. He had been eating to take his mind off the still burning feeling that he felt at the top of his head and now that was interrupted the pain was coming back again."The young master shall now choose an opponent" The head guard announced and blew his horn."Young master here""Young master pick me pick me" "No he'll pick me, young master me me" The practitioner teenagers were enthusiastic about being picked. It was a great honour to be able to say one fought the future sect master, even if they lost it still would be a feat worth mentioning.Young master baxia kept looking around and a peculiar fellow caught his attention. It was that useless bastard Jin Wu in the crowd. He was calm unlike the rest of the crowd and didn't even bother asking to be picked. The young master's face twitched as he stared at Harith. Harith was unconcerned and looked like he had just received a million as he had a big smile on his face...the food here really was top notch."I pick him" Young master baxia said as he pointed his sword directly at Harith."What?" Shock was ample on the faces of most in the crowd as they stopped eating and focused more on what was happening. Did the sect master's son just choose the most useless practitioner among his peers? To call him a practitioner would be an honour since he couldn't even awaken his element, why then would the sect master's son choose him."Him?" The sect master asked. He was familiar with the the one his son had selected. It was the only child out of all who went under the Donghua course to not awaken an element.Donghua course was a very important set of rites and actions one would perform before they could awaken their elements. One would be bathed in the sect's spring eight months after birth and they would spend their time with the grand sect master, learning the martial arts of the sect and how to awaken their elements along with it. This course until the child had become and teenager."Yes Father" Young master baxia said without any further thought. He picked Harith for two reasons...the first was because Harith was very weak so he would spend a substantially less amount of time fighting him that he would have spent if he fought others. And the other reason was just to teach him a small lesson on how to show basic courtesy during one's ceremony."Very well. The duel shall commence if your opponent is ready" The sect master said and looked at Harith.Harith had a bone in his mouth as he looked stunned. He could feel the numerous eyes on him piercing through his soul. Why would this dude pick him out of everyone he saw. He didn't know shit about the fire he had so how would he fight? "Be quick and accept it fool""The young master graciously granted you an honour and you dare think on it" Voices of displeasure instantly came from crowd. Even the elderly ones were displeased."I am afraid I cannot accept the challenge my Lord"Harith said and bowed slightly"bullshit!" A voice shouted a someone threw a piece of bread at Harith."How dare you refuse an honour from the young master""that's why he'll remain useless all his life" The voices kept on increasing but Harith maintained his stance. He had refused because he literally couldn't fight. What would be the point of the duel if his opponent just beats him? He also didn't want to fight anyone yet until he had learned more of this place and how to control the fire in him."And why do you refuse?" The sect master asked with an intrigued look."I am in no position to fight now, I am injured and not well" Harith said as he rolled up his sleeves and slightly raised up his shirts. Bruises and freshly healed wounds could be seen all over his body."very well" The sect master nodded and looked over to Baxia "As you can see he is unwell, choose for yourself another which you would like to duel" Baxia smiled internally as he saw the bruises on Harith's body, he very clearly knew when and how they appeared. He enjoyed bullying like he enjoyed eating."Very well father" Young master Baxia responded and finally selected an opponent other than Harith."You may begin" The sect master announced and at once the two youths got into stance. The young master held his unsheathed his sword and it instantly ignited. Fire danced around the blade like it would on a matchstick. The young master's opponent, Lee min, smirked and formed his hands into fists. Soon enough the fists began flaming. He slammed it to the ground and a wave of flames travelled towards Baxia.Baxia tapped his foot on the ground lifted himself, avoiding the attack. In mid air he made two quick slices. A burst of force was giving off by the sword as they rapidly reached lee min and knocked him back slightly. As the young master landed he threw his sword like a spear and waved his palm after it. A ball of fire travelled right after the sword, he made it so that if one avoided the first then they would surely be hit by the second. As expected lee min was quick enough to avoid the sword's onslaught but just fell slightly off when avoiding the fire ball. It hit him in the shoulders and sent him to the ground. The crowd cheered on as the two fought, but mainly cheering for the young master and his amazing display of skills.Lee min frowned, even if this was a duel and he would eventually give up he still wanted to put on a real show of strength before he did. He slammed the ground in anger as the fire spread to his arm. He decided to take things into his territory, since the young master had discarded his sword he wasn't scared to go close now.At once he ran with full speed, reaching the young master and going for a tackle to the ground. Baxia had cat-like reflexes and he skillfully dodged that by shifting his body to the side so that lee min grabbed nothing but air. Some in the crowd laughed at that. The young master was making a fool of his opponent!Lee min swung his arm just as he passed Baxia and he successfully connected with Baxia's jaw bone. The cracking sound was loud enough for one to hear as baxia was instantly sent flying several metres into the air. "Here's my chance" Lee min's eyes brightened as he projected himself forward, grabbing baxia's leg in mid air in slammed him to the ground. The force used was very hard and a small crater was made with Baxia in the middle.Lee min landed with a smile on his face. "Atleast i have delivered a good blow that's all that matters". He thought as he turned around only to freeze when he met the gaze of his target. The entire arena suddenly went silent as everyone stared at the one they expected to be in the crater.Young master baxia stood just inches away from lee min with the coldest look in his eyes and raging flames surrounding him. The crowd marvelled, they had never seen such powerful flames come from one so young. For many spectators the sight made their breath hitchYoung master baxia stared straight into Lee’s face as he raised his fiery arm and struck. Lee min was too stunned to do anything and he took the blow face first.Baxia chased after him as they flew, blow after blow landed until Lee min finally crashed to the ground with a bloody nose.Young master baxia smiled and faced the crowd, raising his hands in a self gratifying motion. The crowd responded with cheers and claps, the future sect master was really strong."Ah Master Jai, your son is really something else" one of the sect elders said as he laughed. The sect master smiled, He was very proud of his son. He had won the duel clean and fair and he didn't even make use of his other element...what a breed! His son could be very promising indeed."Hmm" As he faced the crowd, baxia sensed a threatening energy coming his way. He immediately dived to the side. As soon as Baxia dived, a huge ball of fire shot through the position he was in before. Baxia's eyes widened, if he hadn't been fast enough that ball would probably have given his a very serious injury. The crowd gasped, they too were shocked. The fire ball was very fast and soon enough it had reached the audience seat, just at a corner where a certain person seated.Harith stopped breathing as he felt the approaching heat...his death was very near. The sect master's eyes glowed and the wind blew. A force gathered in the air very quickly and went after the fire ball that was about to meet an unfortunate person in the crowd...but sadly it was too late.*Bang* An explosion occured as a massive forced rippled throughout the building. Dust scattered all over, blocking the view of the Hall's corner. One of the guards immediately went down to check for any casualty. That corner which the fireball had hit was the corner where the workers of master Chen's kitchen stayed. None of them were practitioners so they were defenseless when an attack of such level hit them.As the dust settled, lo and behold, the people in the corner remained unharmed. A fiery shield formed an arc as it extened from the ground and curved above their heads. A hand held this shield...the hand of the useless bastard called Harith."What?!" Young master Baxia expressed his shock as astonishment filled his face. His gaze then shifted to the rest of the kitchen members who were standing around the shield, looking at each other in disbelief. No one had expected this development.Harith was pacing and his heart was surely racing, he had reacted just a split second before the ball hit and unknowingly protected himself and everyone around.*Clap* A single clap sounded followed by another...then another, and soon enough the whole stadium was clapping that hands off. They were a seemingly in celebration of Harith, after all he had just saved the lives of the kitchen workers. As the claps continued Harith had an intense feeling welling up inside him. This was the first time he was being appreciated by so many people....why did he like this so much?!___Far away from the Raging flames sect, a cast tower sat on a lonely mountain cut off from the rest of the world.
Inside the tower, an old man sat around two orbs- one black and one white. The white orb glowed as it's light lit up the inside of the whole tower. "The man of prophecy is here" He said as his gaze shifted to the black orb "When shall you arrive..."The atmosphere of the event was more cheerful than before thanks to Harith's miraculous save. Harith now stood in the middle of the stage, sweating all over. He was right next to Young master Baxia who was wearing a big smile. Harith didn't know much but he certainly knew how to tell fake from real. And also, wasn't it this guy na this friends that ganged up on him?"Jinwu, today you have saved the lives of master Chen's kitchen. Thank you" The sect master nodded.Harith smiled a little in response."For this deed I shall grant you a reward. Ten thousand jins shall be awarded to you for your efforts" As the sect master spoke and signalled to one of his guards. The crowd clapped and cheered. Ten thousand was a huge sum of money to any teenager. As a result, jealousy began to arise and some wished they had reacted the same way Harith did."Thank you sir" Harith maintained the smile on his face. He didn't know how valuable Ten thousand jins was but from the crowd reaction it had to be s
The pressure was immense! Harith felt like the weight of the world was placed on his shoulder. He started sweating and found it a huge problem to move his eyes not to talk of moving any part of his body. Cho cheong sighed what she was trying to avoid had happened."Why are you late?" A familiar voice spoke. Elder Jang appeared with his hands behind his back and he wore blue robe."I...I l..los...lost my way" Harith struggled to answer. Under this pressure there was no way he could think of lying."And you?" Elder Jang turned to Cho cheong."I overslept master" She responded albeit much more calmly than Harith. This wasn't a first time thing so she was already used to it in a way."Since it is your first time you will be spared. Elder Jang said to Harith. "As for you, this will not go unpunished. For now, go join the rest" He finished talking to Cho cheong and left.As soon as Elder Jang left the pressure Harith felt disappeared entirely. With a sigh of relief he relaxed a bit and look
"what?!""Master Jang!"The students were frightened and disappointed. The martial arts section was their weakest part as they relied mostly on their elemental powers but now Master Jang was saying they couldn't make use of their powers? Those fiery things looked pretty string, how the hell did elder Jang expect them to win with only direct combat?!Harith nodded in approval, this development was for his benefit. He wasn't as strong as the others when it came to fire usage but he knew a thing or two about martial arts from his previous life, he could cope. And seeing as the others were uncomfortable with the idea he guessed they weren't that strong when it came to martial arts.Cho cheong sighed with a downcast face. She was already less than average in the elemental power department and she was even worse in martial arts, there was no way she was getting any of those eyes.Meanwhile inside the hole,Dang gu stopped his fire and immediately made a run for it. He panicked and headed fo
"That rock giant has appeared because you refused to follow the rules of the task and fight. As long as you run without fighting heading the you would be prevented from acquiring the emerald eyes. Let that rest deep in you" Elder Jang said in all seriousness."So there really is no hope...." "Only way to win is to fight" The students were distressed. Elder Jang had taken all possible measures just to make sure they fought. Was he always the relentless?"I will go next" Young master Baxia state suddenly. "Eh? Who said that?""Young master Baxia?""It's about time he stepped up" Elder Jang smiled. He had been waiting for Baxia to talk all this while. Young master Baxia was a very peculiar occurrence happened only once in the history of the four sects. As such he paid very special care to his training...he would lead the sect afterall."Elder Jang, I will be going in now" Young master Baxia bowed.Elder Jang nodded and then young master Baxia dived in.Baxia had made all the necessary
"How are you feeling?" Harith asked. He walked with Cho cheong who was looking a bit better now but the bruise on her face was still very evident."I'm okay. It'll heal in a short while" Cho cheong said and touch her eye."You did quite a great thing in there, I'm impressed" Harith spoke from the depths of his heart. Cho cheong had come the closest to taking the emerald eyes. If elder Jang had come clean earlier maybe it would have been a different story."It wasn't anything much, I just ran around and got knocked out" Cho cheong blushed from embarrassment but one could see the joy on her face if they looked closer."Well, Just to make sure you're really okay, let me escort you home" Harith smiled. He had no motives and was just being a gentleman..."Eh? My house is quite far from here I'm not sure you would want to walk that long" Cho cheong quickly denied him."I don't mind. I mean, I have nothing to do so..." Harith shrugged."okay...." Cho cheong finally agreed. The two went back
At that moment two guards arrived. They had hurried breaths so it was obvious they had been running for quite some time."S...stop" One of them spoke as he held his chest and scrunched his face."Ah Elder Jang" The other one noticed Elder Jang and bowed immediately. The second one too followed.Elder Jang raised one of his eyebrows in a look that questioned the guards."Elder Jang they forcefully came in through the sect's gate. We tried to stop them but before we could do anything they were long gone" One of them said with a worried look."So you broke into the sect, and also barged in here. You better have a good excuse for this?" Elder Jang looked at Rose with an angry face."I told you, u brought friendly competition" Rose smiled as she pointed at the two with her.Elder Jang took a low at the other two person with her. He couldn't see much of them as they had long black robes on them but from what he sensed, they would be of the younger generation."You two leave and report to th
Hao Feng had the brightest smile on his face. This woman had really stuck to her words and actually given him the emerald eyes. He just had to beat her candidate...which he did easily. Even he was surprised at how easy he had done that. Sure he had a few cuts here and there but that was all, she didn't really prove much trouble in taking down."Guys what are you waiting for?" Hao Feng excitedly said to the crowd and he waved his emerald eyes for all to see."She really did give him!""It wasn't even that hard for Hao Feng to beat him" The crowd was ecstatic. Hao Feng was a average at best in terms of power but he had still easily taken the girl down. If they went then it was basically free emerald eyes assured."I wanna go next!""No me me, elder Jang pick me!" The students struggled to come forward. Elder Jang on the other hand wasn't too happy. This girl Rose had brought felt so weak compared to what he expected from an average Great water serpent sect youth practitioner. The averag
"It's remaining two pairs, if you want to fight now's your chance" Rose said as she looked in a certain direction with intent."Let me go this time" As soon as young master Baxia saw her look. He felt suspicious that she kept looking at him but he didn't focus on that. His focus was on the emerald eyes. If he didn't step up before the others the emerald eyes may be gone just when he could."Come on out then" Rose answered In place of elder Jang with enthusiasm. Young master Baxia looked at Elder Jang for his approval and since elder Jang had nothing to be suspicious about he just let him go. It wouldn't even last up to a minute before Baxia would win and he'd resume his time with his students."Eh? Wasn't she knocked out before?" A student pointed at Amber who was now standing opposite young master Baxia. Of course they found it strange, it was unlike before when she was fed the pill and took some time to become conscious. Now immediately Young master Baxia stepped up she just surpri
“I am glad you are awake” A voice said as a small figure approached, a young boy with long, black hair and a red robe. He had a gentle smile and was accompanied by a person who looked like a shadow. “ I have been waiting for you for a long time. I hope you will be able to help us” the boy said as he bowed his head.“I don't understand, who is this?" Mendel asked. The Shadow replied “He has been sent by the god of death, it seems that your soul was meant to go to World Z” he paused for a moment, “and I have to say, that I'm very happy to meet you. I like your personality and I can see you'll make a good leader one day”“Wait, I thought the gods didn't care about the living?”“That they never cared? No, that was wrong. They gave their blessing to our leaders and taught them how to lead others. We follow them because we trust them” The man said, explaining the reason of the people of the world. “But, I believe there was something else. Something even more important. It was the promise of
Wang minThe eldest of them was Heng. A handsome man with hair that flowed like the waves on the sea, he wore robes and had a staff in his hand. His eyes were calm pools of blue, and his skin was soft but clear. He liked spending time outdoors, tending to the plants and trees around him. When he came across a beautiful girl, he would take her home and spend some time with her alone. It was no secret to the world how much he liked women, and most people thought it was because of how strong the water source was there.However... it wasn’t exactly true. One day, Heng had taken a stroll through the city. His mind was filled with thoughts of flowers and other beautiful creatures, and as he made his way through the crowd, he accidentally bumped into someone. This surprised him at first, since everyone knew that there weren't many people who walked about like he did. But the person he'd bumped into looked oddly familiar. As he stood there and took stock of his surroundings, he realized that h
The emperor is a man of many secrets and few words; his face has never been seen by anyone outside the palace walls since he was born in this country thousands of years ago. His father died when Shoan was very young so that meant it was up to him now to protect the empire from its enemies both foreign and domestic. He had no choice but to be strong for those who depended on him, even if they didn't deserve it. In truth though he could have done without them all together because some were just too annoying or stupid to deal with. One day while sitting alone in his office pondering over how best to kill someone, which took forever these days thanks to their constant neediness, an idea struck him like lightning through a thunderstorm—he would make sure everyone else dies before killing himself. The only problem was that there wasn't enough time left between one person dying and another being born to get everything done in a timely manner…unless he found a way around that pesky little fac
The first thing he noticed was the smell. The air in the room stank of blood and death, but it wasn't a sweet scent like that of freshly spilled entrails or a butcher's shop. It smelled more like the sour tang of old vomit mixed with urine, which made him think of his mother's chamber pot after she'd been sick for days on end. He wrinkled his nose at the thought and tried to ignore the odor as best he could, though it didn't do much good. His stomach still growled loudly enough to make him wince."You're awake," said a voice from behind him. "That's a start."He turned around slowly, trying not to look too eager. A man sat against one wall, watching him intently. He had dark hair and eyes, and a scar ran across his face just below his left eye. He wore black leather armor and carried a longsword strapped to his back. His name came to mind almost immediately: Captain Rolfe.Rolfe stood up and walked over to the bedside. He pulled back the sheets and looked down at Aram's body. Then he r
A brief moment of silence filled the audience as they watched a person exit the Battlefield through the circle barrier. An elimination had occured....an elimination of a member of the raging flames sect?!An instant roar came from the crowd as soon as Jung du landed on the outside of the circle."w...what?!" Jung du looked around him carefully and then looked in front. He could clearly see the barrier seperaying him and the others inside the circle. But how? How was it possible? Had he been eliminated?!The first point of the first elimination had actually gone to the Great water Serpent sect's side, even against the odds. How?! ....Judith smirk got even wider as she took a quick glancce at Jung du and retrieved her hammer. She had scored the first elimination for her team, as a captain that was one of the best things she could do to uplift her team's spirit."Damnit" Sao gang muttered as he dodged an icy blue knife that was thrown his way. Even though he was battling someone, his m
"Wonderful" Harith's eyes shone with a light he'd never shown before. He had just seen a technique, a move that was mine blowing. A game changing power infact. This was the thing alice had relied on to take him by surprise and then she called him weak after. She had repelled a sure hit attack right back to the user... it was something Harith could very much use if he ever got his hands on it. ..... *Boom* The ice on the floor shattered into pieces as Layla crash on it. But without wasting time sulking on the icy floor, Layla swallowed her pain and got right up. With a heavy jump she flew upwards, flinging herself towards Baxia and grabbing him by the neck. Baxia had a face filled with irritation..These four were hell bent on stopping him from making his move. And they knew they couldn't win in a fair fight so they were trying to stop him from achieving victory, at least this way. Baxia didn't think Layla would ever let go of him but still... he couldn't afford to t
Harith wheezed and gasped for air as he tried to take Alice's leg away from his chest but it was to no avail. The earlier attack had really weakened him. He didn't have the slightest idea of what happened. First he had made an attack and successfully predicted that Alice would dodge it, and then he made a backup attack-One that was guaranteed to hit. But as soon as he made the attack he was struck...What the fuck was going on! "I expected more" Alice clicked her tongue, the candy in her mouth dancing around. With a rise of her arms she lifted up the scythe and brought it down with all her power! *Crack!* As soon as Alice lifted up the scythe and exposed her face, a punch came crashing into her. The punch was so devastating it dislocated Alice's jaw. Alice's eyes turned and she staggered backwards, struggling to even keep hold of her scythe. *Bang!* Before Alice could recover from the first punch, another one came in. This time right to the temple. Never in her life had alice fe
"Stop him!" Layla shouted as she rushed towards Baxia, leaving her opponent behind. She couldn't give a shit about who it was that she faced, all that was on her mind was protecting her sister from this monster of a guy. The raging flames sect students were more than surprised, three of their members had suddenly become free of fighting. The Great water serpent sect students they faced before had all retreated to go defend Judith. It was now Five versus Nine- The five being the remaining members of the Great water Serpent, and the Nine being the Members of the great water serpent sect without Baxia. Harith, though, wasn't as fortunate at the rest. The Petite girl with ponytails and a candy in her mouth still refused to leave Harith. Harith was frustrated, he had only met this girl once-Which was the during the time the raging flames sect first fought the great water serpent sect in the poking rounds. And even then, their encounter was short. But now, why
Outside the circleThe Great water serpent sect's side was so quiet that if one dropped a pin in the midst of them, they would hear it. The students in the circle were among the strongest of the sect, and Judith was the second strongest....second only to the sect master's daughter. But still- Baxia had knocked her out cold in one punch like it was second nature. And he just Knocked out another one of the students! Elder Jang had a smile on his face. He knew who Baxia was. Baxia couldn't accept any form of defeat without retaliating, even at the cost of his life. Although this trait made taking stupid decisions common for Baxia, this time, elder Jang was going to put the trait to good use.
