Christian~~~~
The events of yesterday replayed in my head countless times as I remembered how close I was to dying again. It worked out in my favour as I gained a strong ally, but it was another one of the many close calls I've had with death and it's beginning to irk me a lot.
I already knew the people who wanted me dead but I can't do anything about that for now. If even one of them dies, I'll be blamed with good reason and I could end up losing everything. The fact that I'm powerless against them just makes me want to expand my influence even more.
Now I understand what rich people mean when they say money without power is basically useless. I am as rich as Audrey now if not richer, but I'm still powerless against him because of his influence.
"I need power."
"You don't get that by sitting on your ass and reading papers all day," Donna said with amusement in her voice. She was sitting in the chair opposite my table and reading through some papers. She seems to have fit into the role of a PA quite well.
I cocked an eyebrow. "What?"
"You don't get power by being cooped up in here all day," she repeated.
"How do you know that?" I asked in confusion. I was sure I only thought about it.
"You were thinking out loud," she smiled. "Are you that worried that you didn't even realize it?"
"Well, I didn't," I replied. "And aren't you a little too comfortable? This isn't even your office."
"Don't mistake things, stud," she smiled. "Your assassination is still very much on since I haven't gotten my money yet. I'm only giving you time to get it ready."
"Then why are you reading my papers?" I asked.
"You wanted a PA, right?" she asked looking back at the paper. "I'm only doing the job of one."
"Well, good," I replied as I also got back to work.
"I'm beginning to question why you bought this company though," she asked. "Yes, they are making a ton of profit, but there's been so much embezzlement in the company that it's almost going bankrupt. Isn't this a bad deal?"
"I didn't buy this company for a profit," I informed her as I picked up a photograph.
"Then, why?" she asked looking up, but I said nothing as my expression got darker. The hatred and anger were evident in my eyes as I stared at the photograph of Laura in another man's arms.
"Oh," she smiled. "Revenge, huh? Did it satisfy you?"
"Surprisingly, no," I replied coldly. "I really thought it would. I am making Gabe cough up all the money he embezzled and ripping him clean of everything he ever had, but Laura....."
"What about her?"
"I don't know what to do with her?" I sighed. "She had no idea what I went through and even now she still has no idea. All she lost was her job and her rich boyfriend. Nothing else. I lost myself because of her. I lost everything when she left and she still hasn't known what it feels like to lose everything because of one person."
"That's a pretty precarious situation," Donna sighed. "But I don't think I have any ideas that might help you at the moment. I'm an assassin so I can only give you twisted ideas."
"Say it," I ordered.
She paused to look me in the eyes and then proceeded to shake her finger in my face. "You have no right to order me as you are not my master. You have neither bought nor earned my submission. Be polite."
"Fine," I sighed. "Please, tell me."
Good," she smiled before giving me a mischievous grin. "Did you ever think you would be asking an assassin for love advice?"
"It's not love advice," I corrected her. "It's revenge. Now get to it."
She paused again and stared at me in silence.
"Please."
"Good," she smiled. "Make her your slave."
"What?" I asked. "Slave? How is that possible?"
"Does she have a family that might go searching for her?" she asked.
"None that I know of."
"Does she have friends?"
"I don't know but many people hate her."
"Would you be a suspect if she disappears?"
"Probably," I shrugged.
She grinned at that. "What if she does that at her own will? Will anyone care?"
"I'm not sure what you mean," I said. "How does this make her my slave?"
"You want to hurt her, don't you?" she smiled.
"Yes?"
"I would have suggested that I take care of it, but your expression already says no."
"Yes, I want to hurt her more emotionally than physically."
"Then what hurts a human more than absolute loneliness and hatred from the only person who knows of your existence?" she grinned, this time a lot more gleefully. Now I understand how twisted she is.
"Are you saying I should abduct her and treat her like a slave?" I asked.
"Exactly," she clapped. "Except, I'm not asking you to treat her like a slave."
"What?"
"I'm asking you to make her your slave."
"How is that possible?" I asked. "You know-"
"What?" she cut me off. "Society? Rules? Right or wrong? Isn't that why you abducted her in the first place? Take her to an environment where you become God. Where your rules are absolute and your word is the law. A place where your actions are divine and unquestionable, and you dictate right or wrong. A place completely free from the shackles of society and where you are the society."
"Wow," I couldn't help but say. "That's not a bad idea. Infact, it's great."
"But, there's a catch," she grinned. "It's addictive. When you become God, you slowly lose your humanity and you struggle with maintaining the balance. That means wanting more subjects, or hating the shackles of society when you have to abide by them. This has also led to problems before but if you can handle it then it's fine."
"I will handle it," I said. "I'm going to do this."
She smiled at that. "Then make sure to become her god."

~Lauren~ I got a call from the hospital the umpteenth time in seventy minutes. Releasing a heavy sigh, I answered. The words that followed had me hitching my breath 'Ma'am, your brother has been transferred into the emergency room again. His stitches tore and this has caused more complications. We advice that you make in an instant payment so the treatment will be carried out.' 'Noo. You don't have to wait for payment to be made. Treat him immediately. I'll be there in few minutes' I yelped frenziedly, worry and anxiety settling in my bosom. Only few days ago, I sent a thousand dollars so he would get the surgery done... It was all I had on me... Nothing else. I couldn't ask Gabe for help. I hurried into my car and drove like a human possessed, only barely staying within the speed limit and begrudgingly stopping for the red light as a ticket would only delay me further. "Please, be fine. Please, survive," I chanted the words like a mantra as my anxiety grew even more. It was gett

That idiot is still alive and I'm stuck in here hoping this shit doesn't blow up in my face any second from now!""Yelling isn't going to solve anything," she sighed."But it sure as hell is making me feel better," I retorted. "Fuck! I don't feel even a little bit better!""See?" she sighed. "This is just a waste of your energy. This anger is supposed to be directed at finding a solution to this problem.""And what solution do you propose?" I hissed. "Because I sure as hell don't see one. Just how hard is it to kill one stupid man?!""Calm your ass down!" she yelled, standing up abruptly. "I warned you to be sure of the people you hire in the first place. Just how stupid ca
Rejected as a Commoner, Wanted as an Heir You don't want to play this game with me...
Christian's POV Lauren looked like she would collapse at the sight of the men behind me, but I am not exactly concerned about how uncomfortable she might be feeling. I had come to check on a property of interest near the hospital and I saw her about to enter her car. It amused me, they say think of the devil, and it will rear its head. I asked for us to sit at the café opposite the hospital. Just when I was still thinking of ways to get my revenge on her and make her pay for the pain she caused me. Staring at her, a part of me feels some sort of attachment towards her. “Control yourself!” I cautioned myself. “Are you sick? Did you visit the hospital to abort Gabe's pregnancy?” I asked in amusement. Lauren blinked slowly, but she didn't respond to my taunt. Instead, she said. “I am surprised you called me here to seat, thank you for giving me this opportunity.” Lauren amuses me, why she thinks I would ever want to seat with her after breaking my heart and humiliating me. Lauren let out a dry chuckle. “I'm no fool, Dylan. I see how hard it is you are fighting the urge to express how hurt you feel. But, I will tell you this; you should be thrilled that your real father found you. If your life was really continuously miserable as it is from the start, you would have eventually committed suicide or delve into crime.” She paused, “how long was I supposed to endure for? It's been four years. Four years of my life hoping you would get a better shot at life. But you were such a coward, even a little child will ride you. It was always painful to watch. I wanted a better life for myself and I went in search for it.” I laughed at her last statement, “and how does your life look any better now? You are out of job, and Gabe seem to enjoy tossing you around to plead for a job to feed the both of you. Aren't you back to square one?” “And I hope you feel really better now that you bought M&F Jewels. I hope it gets you to sleep at night. You bastard!” That was i

Christian's POV I have always seen fast and furious in the movies but I never thought I would be practicing it one day. My heart was in my mouth at the sight of the horrid look on the assailants faces. Coming after us in powerbikes with guns that look murderous enough on its own. Oh, lord save my soul. If I end up dying in this type of attack, I should definitely belong to the members of heavens. I can't go to hell like this. "How the hell are we getting out of this?" I blurted, bending down to avoid getting hit. Not even a bullet proof car would save me from the bullets of those wild guns. "We have more men on the way sir." The wounded guard assured me. How they could be calm in this ruckus is something I would never be able to fathom. And I really don't care at the moment I just want to be save. I tried to pay attention to the attack, the gun men weren't exactly shooting at the car windows, it's more of targeting the car tires. Almost like an attempt to bring the car to a

Christian's POVI dropped my cutlery staring at him in confusion, "what do you mean?" The guard cleared his throat, after drinking water from the glass handed to him by Dora. "she started fussing and throwing things at the door. When I got in to see what was going on, she attacked me and bit me hard on my hand. I had to hold her back and run out of the room to come to you." I hissed in irritation, "is she still throwing tantrums?""She is locked back in now, boss." He bowed."Alrighr, that works. You can go." I told him.Silence reigned and I can sense Dora's eyes trailing my movement. As delicious as the casserole was. It was beginning to taste watery and all of the flavor I imagined to savor was all gone. "What is it, Dora?" "I know this might sound nosy, but I hope you know what you are doing?" "Pack up the food Dora, I will microwave it when I return." I muttered, standing up. My head reeled in anger as I made my way towards the room Lauren got locked up in. A guard had open

Raising a kid isn't exactly easy, you know," she said. "We're not suffering yet, but we're struggling. I would very much like to walk away from her, give you the middle finger and pray you die in an accident on your way back, but I can't." I flinched as she said those words. I forgot that she was also quite emotionally violent when she wants to be. "Why not?" She chuckled at my question. "Weird. Normally, one would be happy when they realize that they can't be cursed to death." I shrugged. "I can't say that I don't deserve it. Sometimes I wish for the same thing too." She gave a surprised look before continuing. "We need help, and even though you are a heartless, devilish, godforsaken, rotten, disgusting piece of shit, you have the ability to help us. You are rich and we aren't. A Humble request
The aroma of sizzling seafood pleasantly assaulted my nostrils as I looked around in search of the blonde beauty I came here for. I found her at the far corner of the restaurant sitting by a window wall and staring directly at me. I tensed up for a few seconds at the intensity of her stare but eventually relaxed as I walked towards her table. Even if I'm apologetic, I still have a reputation to uphold. I'm not gonna appear weak in front of her. "Hi, Donna," I flashed my best smile at her as I sat down on the seat opposite hers. "Hi," she said, her melodious voice filtering into my ears like a song. "It's...uh...nice to see you again," I said awkwardly. "I can't say the same, sorry," she shrugged. "I'd rather be with my child right now, or working." "Speaking of your child," I looked around her. "Where is.....your child?" "You don't know the gender, do you?" she asked and I shamefully looked away. I couldn't bring myself to answer that. "Well, she's okay, and happy where she is."
Meeting Donna
AUDREY HEPBURN I calmly exited my room once I was done with my exaggerated preparations to meet Donna. The maids gave me an apprehensive look as I made my way down the stairs before bowing respectfully as they hurried past me to do their jobs. "Good morning, sir," they said before heading in multiple directions and focusing on their chores. Even then, I could feel the tension in the air caused by my presence. "Everyone's acting like I'm the first person to attempt a murder on planet earth," I thought as I rolled my eyes. "There's a woman literally being called the worst human in the country and they just wouldn't ignore my little transgression." "Good morning, Audrey my boy," a calm sonorously thin voice greeted from behind me and placed a small frail hand on my back. "You look good today." I turned around with a sigh of relief as the old but beautiful nanny Helen graced me with her beautiful smile. She's been my nanny ever since I can remember and devoted all of her life to raisi
Free but not free
AUDREY HEPBURN The alarm clock blared in my ear causing me to slam it quiet with a groan. Rolling over on my bed, I let out a sigh. "I don't want to leave my room today." Just like every other day, I don't want to have to leave this room. I don't deserve to. My world has been turned upside down since that incident with Christian and sincerely, it's all my fault. I can't even blame it on anyone else. At the time, it seemed like the best course of action but now that I think about it, attempting to kill your step brother just because of a misunderstanding is quite extreme and malicious. Especially if it turns out that the woman you believed to be your mother was a lying bitch and you were infact biological brothers with the same step brother you tried to kill. That just brings it to a whole other level of terror. That was exactly what I did and now I feel like shit. For the most part of my life, I've always seen Christian as my step brother. I've always envied him, hated that he

He was mocking me," I retorted. "Who in their right mind, would risk their reputation and business influence over a murderer's nobody daughter. For all I know, he might just be thinking of using me for some publicity stunt, and the last thing I need right now is more publicity." She sighed again. "From my standpoint, it seemed like he was genuinely trying to help. You were the one being difficult." I swallowed hard, the truth of her words hitting me but my obstinacy wouldn't let me succumb. I placed my hand in my pocket and slowly brought out my business card, then proceeded to carefully lay it on the table before backing away. "Call me when you've calmed down," I said as I headed out. "I'm sorry for the things I said." "Yeah, get out," she hissed. "And make sure to close the door behind you." With a heavy heart and a little anger at her reluctance to listen to or believe me, I closed the door behind, letting out a sigh before making my way to the car. My phone rang as I opened my car door and the caller ID was Courtney's, making me think twice about answering. I really am not in the mood for her requests and taunts. "What?" I asked as I reluctantly answered the call. "I assume it didn't go well?" "It's none of your business," I retorted. "What do you want, Courtney? I'm busy." "Well, first of all, stop using that tone with me," she warned. "Second, I think we can still find ways to help clear her name." "Nevermind that," I sighed as I got into the car. "She doe
You pity me?
"Would it kill you to say thank you?" she rolled her eyes as she revved her car engine. "You know what, never mind. Thank me by funding my newest project. Surely that's easier for you than saying the words, right?" I ignored her as I adjusted my clothes and walked away from her car. I crossed the road swiftly and headed for the house with my head down, hoping that she doesn't recognise me before I approach her door. I knocked on the door, praying again that the door opens before she realizes that I'm the one. It seems like luck's on my side as she opened the door while looking behind her. "Delivery?" she asked, her eyes still focused on something behind her. "Hi, Tiff." She froze at the sound of my voice. She remained frozen for a few minutes, as if trying to convince herself that she hadn't just heard my voice. "I know you heard me," I added as the silence stretched longer. She slowly turned her head to look at me and immediately gasped. "Oh, hell no." She tried to close th
