CHAPTER 11

“You are fired,”.

The booming words that broke out of Grandpa Tony's mouth through the phone, left Valencia paralyzed in pristine trepidation. Blood rained out of her system as the words hit her eardrums.

“Wh-what,” Valencia stammered. She couldn't believe her ears. Her ears were whizzing with these distasteful words. They were swirling in her mind like a tsunami. Her heart sank, and her hands started trembling.

“Did I stutter,”? Grandpa Tony raised a question from the other side. His tone contains an unsaid portent.

“You can't do this to me,” Valencia screeched. Hitting the table vase near her. It smashed to the floor, infringement into pieces. People nearby glance at her strangely, but she glares at her. They succumb away from their leaving her alone.

Her heart was pounding wildly in her chest. She rubbed her clammy hands on her dress. Her phone almost slipped from her fingers. She still can't believe what she is hearing.

“Try me,” Grandpa Tony asked in an incurable tone.
