Chapter 14

Keith was trying to make sure that he didn't stay long inside the room and he was sure that spending a whole day inside a locked room would make him look terrible.

“I hate doing this but I have to go around the city to see if I will find anything that would make me even think of anything else.” Keith got up and walked over to the wardrobe that Jacqueline prepared for him.

He opened it and spotted a plain black shirt with a pair of trousers, they were all in the highest class of things and he knew that there was no way Jacqueline would want him to wear anything below class.

‘That's right, I left all my clothes back at Eleanor's house and there is no way I am going back there to take them. I might as well jump into the ocean and let the fishes eat me.’

Keith picked a cloth out of the varieties of clothes in the wardrobe, he didn't know what else he would do but he was going to be roaming around the city till he found something that would make him forget that he had his divorce to think about.

Keith dressed up and headed down the lobby of the hotel, he was surprised to see his guards there. It was like they were waiting for him to come down.

“Good morning sir, Sir Marx told us to be with you all day and make sure that nothing would make you angry.” The guard said as he bowed his head, they were trying to make sure that Keith was not angry or going to kill them for leaving him the day before.

“We are sorry that we left without telling you but Sir Marx called for us.” They were still bowing down, Keith looked at them and he couldn't even think of a thing to say to them but just looked at them amused.

“You can raise your heads, Marx already told me why you left.” Keith was sounding defeated, he thought he would be alone that day but there was no chance he was going to be alone for anything.

“So you are here to guard me, I didn't know I needed guards till now.” Keith smiled, he knew that there was no way he would even want guards to be with him.

“Sir we must not let you walk out on your own like that, we know you are capable of taking care of yourself but we have to make sure that nothing happens to you.” The guard was not even looking at anything Keith would say, we were going to make sure that they followed him everywhere he was going to be heading to.

Keith didn't even have the strength to argue with them, he knew that it would only end with them following him even if he said that he didn't need them to do that.

“Fine, I want to go around town and look around. Maybe who knows, find something that will intrigue me.” Keith rooked his eyes as he walked to the car, he was not going to let anything hinder him from doing anything he wanted.

The guard followed him to the car, they opened the door for him as he entered to sit down. “I want you to take me to the Chervel Bar, I have an old friend I want to see there.”

Keith was going to pay his respects to a certain man, but it was not like he wanted to show up there with guards following him like he was some kind of royal brat.

“Okay sir,” the guard started the car, he was not going to make Keith repeat himself. Keith noticed that the guard was acting like some kind of robot.

“You do know that you can act freely, I am not a monster you know.” Keith looked at him, noticing that he was trying his best to avoid eye contact and the way he was even trying to make sure he didn't speak.

“I am sorry if my behaviour annoys you my lord. I will make sure that I don't do anything to make you angry.” The guard was not even trying to let anything Keith said sink into his head.

“You didn't even listen, I wonder what they told you about me. Listen I am not a monster and if anything I am human like you.” Keith was trying to see if he would make the guard loosen up.

“Sorry sir, I heard you don't like people looking you in the eye and you always liked it quiet and you would not like any looking at you like there was a problem.”

Keith couldn't help but laugh at the guards words, he knew that his days of terror were still following him. “Sounds like I am some kind of terrible man that will do anything to make sure that people follow my rules, but seriously I am not a monster. What's your name?”

The guard was shocked to see Keith even ask him such a question, “My name is Lucas sir,”

“Well Lucas, I only hurt people that deserve it and I won't bite your head off if you don't cross the line.” Keith smiled, he didn't even know what he would say to Lucas to make him act like a normal man.

“Okay sir,” Lucas kept driving till they got to the Chervel Bar, it was not like any of the luxury bars in the city but it seemed like there was someone there that Keith wanted to see.

“Okay Lucas you guard the car while I go meet up with someone,” Keith got down from the car, he was not about to take him inside the bar and draw attention to himself.

Keith walked in, he looked around the bar and it was like a run down place, it seemed like the bar was going out of business.

“Well, look what the cat dragged in. Keith Norman as I live and breathe.” A man sitting at the counter smiled when he saw the man walk in.

“You really look like you don't age a bit, what is it you put in your drink that keeps you this young you bitter old man.” Keith smiled.

“You know that your tongue needs to be fixed and it's not. I will make sure that you get a new one.” The man laughed as he stepped out to greet Keith, the both of them gave each other a hug.

“It's good to see you Wally, you're still kicking I thought you would be in the hospital.” Keith made another joke.

“I will not die until I have had a night with every single woman from each country.” Wally laughed as he walked back to the counter.

“You still have that sick fantasy of yours, don't you know that you are an old man and you should stop trying to get laid.” Keith was trying to hold in his laughter.

“No way I would give it up, now where have you been? The last time we spoke you said that you had an accident. I hope you didn't lose your balls in that crash.” Wally was trying to sound serious, he noticed that Keith had stopped smiling.

“Nah, I am fine. I came to see you,” Keith took a seat, he was not even trying to make Wally feel worried.

“Ah, you came all the way here to see me. I am touched by the way, how is your wife?” Wally smiled, he was trying to find out how Keith was doing and all.

Wally was one of Keith's old friends when he first came into MetroVille, they have know each other for long and it was thanks to Eleanor's father that the both of them met each other.

“Well, I am getting divorced.” Keith smiled, Wally looked at him like he was looking at a ghost.

“You look happy? I don't know how or why you are happy? You know most men would be sad if they lose a woman like Eleanor. But you seem rather happy that it happened,” Wally was looking at Keith trying to find out what was making him happy.

“Wally, she was never the one for me. I gave her all my love but she wanted to be with William's family's spoiled brat.” Keith looked at the table.

“Oh I see, well you know what they say if it was love then it won't fail. But you don't seem bothered by it, you must have one heck of a life going on.” Wally was still looking at Keith.

“You have no idea,” Keith smiled as he sat to talk to his friend.

“Let me pour you a cup of your favourite, I know that is what you need to calm your nerves down as you tell me how things are going for you.”

Wally brought a bottle and he was about to begin mixing a cocktail for Keith.

“Wally? Why is your bar looking like it's run down by the mafia?” Keith smiled when he looked at Wally, he didn't know what it was that made a bar he knew that was one of the biggest in the city to look like it was abandoned.

“It's a long story, are you sure you want to hear it?” Wally brought out two glasses of cocktail and handed one to Keith as he sat down ont he opposite side of the table.

Keith smiled as he took the cup “Go on, it's not like I have anywhere to be now.”
