Yuki finally began learning basic magic from Aira as they had agreed. He was eager to learn so he could survive in this strange, magical world.
Yuki, Aira, and Seira, who was in the form of a little girl, sat in a circle on the grass.
"Do you know there are different elements of magic in this world, Yuki?" Aira started the lesson by asking Yuki about his knowledge of magic.
"I don't know," Yuki replied honestly. He knew nothing about magic because, in his world, magic was just an imaginative creation of artists.
"Huh? You don't know? Even children know this. Where are you really from?" Aira found it odd. Nevertheless, she decided to help Yuki because they had made an agreement.
Yuki grinned sheepishly. He couldn't possibly tell her he was from the modern world, not originally from the magical one.
"So, what do you want to learn first?" Aira asked, her tone a bit sharp out of frustration.
She felt like she had taken on a student who was truly clueless, not realizing Yuki was special.
"Hmm, I want to learn about the types of magic first so I can understand quickly when we practice later. I want to study the theory first." Yuki's eagerness as a learner was palpable.
"Hmm, theory, huh. That's good too. Theory is indeed important for learning magic. So, therefore..." Aira agreed with Yuki’s point and began to reach into her backpack while chanting a spell.
"Item box!" Aira called out, and a white light, like a portal to another dimension, shone from her backpack.
Yuki was amazed by this. Now he understood how Aira could pull a large pot from a small backpack when cooking.
"Like a game," Yuki muttered to himself.
"What? Game?" Aira, almost done with her task, repeated Yuki's words, though she was busy.
"Oh, it's nothing. I'm just amazed by that." Yuki pointed to the backpack from which Aira had pulled out a thick book.
"Oh, this is called storage magic. It's a sub-space spell with unlimited space and no time constraints. Essentially, this spell is crucial for adventurers. Here, read this!" Aira tossed the book gently to Yuki.
"It's a basic book on learning magic." Knowing Yuki's curiosity, Aira explained further.
"Ooh..." Yuki nodded and began to open the book, flipping through the pages.
Yuki looked very serious as he read, his brow furrowed, which made Aira lose patience.
"What's wrong? Can't you read it?" Aira was suspicious, thinking Yuki might be a handsome but dim-witted person.
However, Yuki could read the writing in Aira's book. He was genuinely puzzled as to how he could read these unfamiliar characters.
"I can read it." Yuki smiled, hiding his surprise. He tried hard to keep Aira from becoming more suspicious.
"Oh, good. I don't have to teach you how to read and write." Aira was relieved she didn't have to start from the basics.
"So, can I learn that magic?"
"That magic? You mean the item box?" Aira repeated.
"Yes, it seems very efficient." Yuki was enthusiastic.
But Aira sighed, unlike Yuki's excitement.
"Is it too difficult?" Yuki guessed from Aira's expression.
"It's not about the difficulty of using sub-space magic. Actually, the item box is the lowest form of sub-space magic. We can even travel to other dimensions and create our own using sub-space magic. We could store entire worlds within the sub-space we create. But..." Aira stopped her explanation, making Yuki even more curious.
"But what?" Yuki couldn't help but ask.
"Using sub-space magic requires a huge amount of magical energy, and if the user doesn't have enough mana, instead of using sub-space magic, the magic itself will consume them. So, this magic is still too advanced for you." Aira decisively dashed Yuki's hopes of learning sub-space magic.
"Magical energy, huh? Just like a fantasy novel." Yuki muttered to himself again.
"Fantasy novel?" This time, Aira also heard Yuki's quiet mutter.
"Oh, it's nothing. So, what exactly is magical energy?" Yuki quickly changed the subject, afraid Aira might become suspicious.
Yuki felt odd that Aira's hearing was so sharp, even though his muttering was almost inaudible.
"Alright. Magical energy works like this." Aira took a stick and drew a simple human figure on the ground.
Yuki, seeing Aira's drawing, wanted to laugh but held it in so as not to offend Aira, who was teaching him magic.
"Human magical energy centers at three points: the heart, the head, and the stomach. From these three centers, magical energy spreads to every cell in the body, enabling the use of various types of magic." Aira explained while scribbling on her drawing.
"That's easy." Yuki nodded repeatedly.
"What's easy? Mages must control the flow of magical energy in their bodies. One small mistake can cause side effects. The mildest is tingling in the joints, and the worst can be paralysis, loss of senses, or even death." Aira's tone turned sharp again, frustrated by Yuki's underestimation.
"Sorry, sorry. I'm just amazed," Yuki scratched his head and smiled sheepishly. "So, how do you control the flow of magical energy?"
Aira took a deep breath, trying to contain her annoyance. "Okay, listen carefully. First, you need to feel the magical energy in your body. Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Feel the energy flowing from your heart, head, and stomach."
Yuki closed his eyes, following Aira's instructions. He tried to focus on his breath, feeling every pulse of energy in his body.
"Feel the energy, Yuki. Imagine it as a gentle river flowing within you," Aira continued in a softer voice.
After a few minutes of silence, Yuki slowly opened his eyes. "I can feel it! There’s a small flow of energy inside me!"
Aira gave a thin smile. "Good, that's the first step. Now, let's try directing that energy to your hands. Focus your energy on one point, imagining it flowing like water from a source to your hands."
Yuki closed his eyes again and tried to follow Aira's instructions. He imagined the energy flowing from his heart, head, and stomach to his hands. Gradually, he felt warmth in his palms.
"Good, Yuki. You're doing well," Aira praised him gently. "Now, feel that energy and form it into a small ball in your hands."
Yuki opened his eyes slightly, focusing on his hands. He felt the energy growing stronger and slowly forming a small, glowing ball in his palms.
"I did it!" Yuki exclaimed excitedly. "I really did it!"
Aira smiled proudly. "Good job, Yuki. That's an excellent start. But remember, this is just the beginning. There's still much more to learn and master."
Yuki nodded eagerly. "I'm ready, Aira. I'm ready to learn more."
Seira, who had been silently watching, smiled gently. "You both are amazing. Aira, you're a great teacher. Yuki, you're a quick learner."
Aira smiled and nodded. "Thank you, Seira. We'll continue to learn and train together."
With renewed enthusiasm, Yuki was ready to face the challenges of learning magic in this wondrous world. He knew that with Aira and Seira's help, he would master magic and become a part of this amazing world.
Chapter 6: Understanding the Elements of Magic"Does this mean I can use magic now? I can use spatial magic, right? Right?" Yuki's excitement was palpable, but it was abruptly interrupted by a flick to her forehead."Ow!" Yuki winced at the sting of Aira's action."Stop acting like a child," Aira grumbled."Sorry," Yuki apologized, adjusting her posture."Alright. You can sense the magic energy within your body now, right? But that doesn't mean you can use magic just yet. First, read the book I gave you. It explains why you can sense the magic energy but can't use it yet." Aira pointed to the book lying beside Yuki."Okay." Yuki obeyed, opening the book to the first page."There are four types of magical elements: fire, water, air, and earth." Yuki read aloud softly. Her forehead creased with concentration. Yuki was now certain that the world she had found herself in was a fantasy realm, much like those she had read about in fantasy novels."Are you confused?" Aira asked with a condes
After finishing their studies on magical elements, Yuki, Aira, and Seira continued their journey to the nearest village to find lodging."Are we going to keep walking like this?" Yuki asked, feeling utterly exhausted after nearly two hours of continuous walking. Moreover, the day was getting late."Haha, be patient. We're almost there. Maybe another two hours," Aira replied, laughing at Yuki's complaint.Yuki pouted. In his original world, Yuki often walked, but never for hours on end like this."Hey, there's a horse-drawn cart. Maybe we can hitch a ride," Aira said, waving her hand as she spotted a brown horse pulling a cart heading towards them."Really? For real?" Yuki, who was already tired, instantly perked up.Aira waved her hand again, and the cart stopped politely. After asking for permission to hitch a ride, Aira handed over three copper coins as payment for their ride to the nearest village. The cart driver happily accepted and helped Yuki, Aira, and Seira onto the cart.Ins
After a long journey, Yuki, Aira, and Seira finally arrived at the inn. They disembarked from the freight cart with tired but relieved faces."Um, Aira. Are we staying here?" Yuki asked hesitantly."Of course, Yuki. It's already dark, and it's too dangerous to continue traveling now," Aira replied, puzzled by Yuki's question."But, Aira... it's like this..." Yuki looked unsure. He scratched the back of his head and seemed nervous."What? Speak clearly.""Well, it's like this. Sorry, just a moment." Yuki leaned closer to Aira's ear, his tall frame bending down to match Aira's shorter height.Yuki whispered, and Aira burst out laughing."Hahaha. It's fine. I'll cover it this time. Don't worry. Hahaha." Aira laughed, patting Yuki's arm.It turned out Yuki had confessed he had no money. He told Aira his money pouch had fallen somewhere. Of course, he couldn't mention that the death god who threw him into this magical world hadn't given him any money to survive.Yuki felt embarrassed, but
"Grow!"The once cute and small rabbit had transformed into a giant, fearsome monster, letting out a roar that echoed through the entire forest. The wind generated by its roar was much stronger than when it was still the size of a normal rabbit."Ukh!" Yuki drove his sword into the ground, using it as an anchor to prevent himself from being blown away. His ears ached from the deafening roar of the monstrous rabbit."Damn it!" Yuki cursed, regretting underestimating the monster he was hunting. The giant rabbit had white fur that now looked dull and ragged. Its body, which was once small and adorable, had grown into a terrifying figure. Standing at a height of one and a half meters, its sharp fangs protruded from its mouth. The claws on its feet were now made of gleaming metal under the moonlight. The eyes, once innocent and gentle, had turned into glowing red orbs filled with hatred and the intent to kill.Yuki took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He knew he had to focus and thi
"Argh!" Yuki groaned, feeling every part of his body aching. His head throbbed, and it was the first time he had experienced such intense pain all over. He tried to remember what had happened before everything went dark."You're awake?" Aira's voice sounded, making Yuki turn his head to the side. Aira was sitting on a chair right next to his bed, her eyes filled with a mixture of concern and anger."Where am I?" Yuki asked weakly, trying to endure the pain without complaining too much."At an inn," Aira replied curtly. "I didn't know you were that reckless. You should know that a body not accustomed to using magic or forcing itself to use magic it can't handle will suffer severe consequences. The power generated is immense, but so are the effects. It can even lead to death with a shattered body." Aira started lecturing him the moment Yuki opened his eyes.Yuki, weak and in pain, couldn't escape Aira's scolding. In this situation, Yuki thought Aira was very similar to Hana when she was
“What do you mean by dangerous, Aira?” Yuki stopped eating and looked at Aira, who was staring out the window with a cold expression.“This village is dangerous,” Aira replied with the same cold expression.“Please explain more, Aira. I just woke up from being unconscious,” Yuki protested. He was not ready to leave immediately after just waking up from a two-day unconscious state.“You know, Yuki. You’re an illegal monster hunter,” Aira stared sharply at Yuki.“Illegal? What do you mean by that?” Yuki asked, confused.“It’s because you haven’t officially joined the adventurer’s guild, yet you’re taking on monster-slaying missions. That’s considered illegal. Accepting a mission to kill a monster without being officially registered with the adventurer’s guild is a crime. Not only that, but you also don’t even know what magic you possess,” Aira, who had been looking out the window, now turned to face Yuki, who was taken aback."I was just helping the villagers because they said they wer
That night, according to their plan, Yuki and Aira slipped out of the inn. They packed their belongings in silence, careful not to make any noise that might draw attention. As the night grew darker, they stepped out of their room, taking care not to alert the innkeeper or anyone else.As they stepped outside, Yuki felt the cold night air brush against his skin. Aira signaled for him to stay quiet and follow her lead. They navigated through dark alleys, staying within the shadows."Why do we have to sneak out like this? Wouldn't it be better to leave during the day?" Yuki whispered."Trust me, it's safer this way. During the day, everyone can see us. Now, at night, we have the advantage of darkness," Aira replied in a low voice. Before completely leaving the inn, Yuki glanced back at the place they had rented. He couldn't believe they weren't allowed to rest longer, especially since his body still ached from their last battle. They continued walking in silence until they heard suspicio
“You?!” The village elder and innkeeper were shocked when Yuki and Aira burst into her hideout. “How did you get here?” she asked again, her voice filled with disbelief. No wonder the old woman was surprised by their presence. She had expected Aira and Yuki to be unconscious from the drugged tea they were given.“Let them go!” Yuki demanded, trying to remain respectful despite facing someone older. However, his polite demeanor only seemed to enrage him further.“Pah! A mere child dares to command me?! You should have stayed quietly in your room, waiting for your turn to be sold. Your lives hold no value other than as commodities for the slave market.” The innkeeper spat on the floor, glaring at Yuki with contempt.“Why you…!” Yuki's expression twisted with anger. His grip tightened on the Seiryū no Inazuma in his hand.Aira, standing beside Yuki, was taken aback. She had never seen him so furious before.“Yuki….” Aira called out softly, sensing the intense emotion radiating from her p
