Part 5: Comeback Into Old Life

Balver took a deep breath. The car had already passed through the boundary gate between the mansion's grounds and the mansion's outer area.

"I know they are enemies of the Hamilton family, but from which alliance?" Barvel grumbled under his breath.

Aland stole the opportunity to fasten his seat belt when he felt the car's speed was decreasing. If it weren't for the situation that the two of them had to rush, Aland would definitely target Barvel.

But Barvel looks trying hard to protect himself. Aland couldn't distract Barvel while driving the car.

"I can't detect it either, Barvel. But they must have deliberately surrounded the mansion to look for the whereabouts of the remaining members."

Barvel propped up his temples, and now steered using only one hand. He increased the speed of the car so that Aland spontaneously shouted in surprise.

"Barvels!" Aland reprimanded Barvel.

Instantly the telephone conversation between Barvel and the man he didn't know became silent.

Until not long after, the sound of male laughter was heard. Like the laughter of someone who is relieved because they haven't seen each other in a long time.

"Greetings, Young Master Aland, I didn't expect that there were still some members of the Hamilton family alive," said the man in the phone call.

Alan didn't answer right away. He needed a moment to get over his shock before, for some reason, he laughed. However, his laugh sounded awkward.

"Ah... yes, nice to meet you. I seem to feel familiar with your voice, who are you?" he asked.

"So you've forgotten me?" The man asked Alan back. "It's okay, Young Master Aland. You haven't been in your family circle for more than five years. Later, when you get here, you will know who I am and what it means for us to pick you up where you are.

After hearing the man's answer, Aland didn't seem to find satisfaction. The incident that had just happened had not been properly digested by Aland.

Understanding Aland couldn't immediately grasp the whole situation, so Barvel gave instructions to take over the phone conversation. Then Barvel spoke back to the man Aland didn't know.

"All right, Marcello, we'd better end our calls now."

Marcello agreed, and three seconds later the calls between them stopped.

After there were no more phone conversations, Barvel breathed a sigh of relief as he leaned his head back.

"The man on the phone said the people who attacked earlier had made the 'movement' a long time ago. They are going to visit the connections of well-off people, and it seems they are suspicious of Mr. Aland's name as the occupant of the mansion."

Aland and Barvel fell silent for a moment. The long explanation from the man on the phone call was digested.

"That's weird," Barvel said. "I'm confused where they can find out about the mansion and there is someone by the name of Aland as a resident of the mansion."

The man on the phone can be heard taking a deep breath, then letting it out slowly.

"I don't understand. But, anyway, I have to make sure they can't trace Mr. Aland's whereabouts."

"I think it's unlikely that they will get hold of Mr. Aland."

At that time, Alan curiously looked back, wanting to watch from the rear window of the car. Aland did not see the people following or shooting at the car.

Then Aland breathed a sigh of relief after leaning his back against the car seat.

Benito Juárez International Airport, Mexico, 2025.

"Have you confirmed the flight schedule for Mr. Aland?" Barvel asked someone on the phone call.

Beside Barvel, Alan walked looking around. They have arrived at the special terminal line that is not passed by other public passengers. Aland was a bit surprised because he thought Barvel would take him over the common passenger line.

How can the Hamilton family, who have experienced desolation, still get this special facility?

Aland has been living as an ordinary person for ten years without receiving special facilities for the Hamilton family. Aland had almost forgotten what it felt like to have to live life with VIP facilities like this.

"Don't let anyone follow and interfere with this flight," said Barvel with firm words. "I will not spare you if Mr. Aland is caught."

Aland and Barvel's steps entered a building that looked majestic. Like a hotel lobby with ceramics covered with a red carpet with a gold woven pattern. The pillars are in the form of a large and tall circle, also in the middle of the pillar there is a slightly protruding part where there are carved carvings with motifs of ancient Greek gods.

"In that case, please tighten security in every area. We must keep Mr. Aland's flight schedule a secret from everyone," Barvel said firmly but calmly.

Before the two of them passed through the security system xray scanner, their steps stopped. Aland looked at the watch on his wrist while waiting for Barvel to still call someone.

"What? The executive general manager of the airport is waiting for us in the waiting room?"

Aland looked at Barvel with a frown. Without making a sound, Aland was surprised why an airport executive general manager was actually waiting for the two of them?

"Ah, fine. We'll be there. The flight is in half an hour, right?"

After a few seconds, Barvel's phone conversation with someone who doesn't know anyone ends. Barvel looked at Aland and gave his formal smile.

"Mr. Aland, we have prepared everything for the flight schedule," said Barvel.

Feeling foreign to this kind of situation, Aland nodded his head once. His body gestures became slightly awkward.

"Since the flight schedule is still half an hour away, Mr. Aland will meet with—"

"Executive general manager of the airport? Yes, I heard what you said earlier," interrupted Aland.

Barvel nodded his head. Nothing was said, but Barvel let Aland go ahead.

They passed the xray scanner security system, put the bags and cellphones they were carrying in different places. While Aland and Barvel walked past the full body scanner before being examined in turn by an officer using a body scanner in hand.

"Enjoy your trip, Mr. Aland." An officer holding a body scanner gave a greeting.

Aland just gave the officer a smile, and so did Barvel. After they finished picking up their belongings and cellphones, they were now walking towards the special waiting room.

"Are there no bodyguards on guard following us?" he asked.

Barvel was silent for a moment, then shook his head. "Too bad, no. But Mr. Aland has someone who can look after you."

"Who?"

"Me."

While Aland was dumbfounded by that answer, Barvel again turned his gaze forward. There was no awkwardness or embarrassment from the look on his face. Flat.

"Woah..." Aland didn't expect the Hamilton Family to have men like this. "So how about security while we're in the waiting room or on the plane? You're so worried about someone watching in disguise, can you guarantee there's no undercover officer here?"

The sarcasm at Aland's lengthy question was of course known to Barvel. But Barvel, still in a calm manner, nodded.

"Of course, Master Aland. Because the bodyguards are already in their positions."

"Where?" asked Alan in disbelief.

Barvel's gaze was directed forward, then smiled meaningfully. Aland followed the direction of Barvel's gaze and was immediately dumbfounded.

A few meters away from them, Alan saw six bodyguards standing at the bottom of the escalator. Then at the very top of the escalator, there were four bodyguards standing looking down. While other bodyguards stood in a row along the second floor glass barrier.

Alan was silent for a few moments. In all the years of living as a new identity, Aland had never witnessed anything like this again. Does this mean he will return to his old life?

As a member of the Hamilton family in danger from enemies?
